Someone once said that you have two choices as a new day unfolds: you may look at it with anxiety or you may look forward to it with faith. To paraphrase management guru Peter F Drucker : the best way to predict the future is to create it!

The importance of MBA

Before completing MBA, i myself thought that Finance is all about maximizing profit; but after completing MBA, I could understand Finance is all about playing with money; it is about cost minimization and wealth maximization. There is huge difference between profit maximization and wealth maximization?

Before doing MBA, i thought, Marketing is about selling and advertising; but after doing MBA, i understood, marketing is all about identifying customers' needs and wants and delivering value up to their satisfaction and building profitable relationship with them.  Before doing MBA i thought, Management is about getting things done by others, but after completing MBA, i understood, Management is about planning, organizing, controlling, leading and stuffing and finally doing things rightly.

“Supplying knowledge to find out how existing knowledge can best be applied to produce results is, in effect, what we mean by management. But knowledge is now also being applied systematically and purposefully to determine what new knowledge is needed, whether it is feasible, and what has to be done to make knowledge effective. It is being applied, in other words, to systematic innovation.” (Drucker, 1993).

However, some of us have done and are doing MBA here. That is very good. I think everybody here in DIU should do MBA. Otherwise, their idea about business would be totally vague and incomplete. They will truly lack in business-knowledge.

Those(graduates) who have not completed MBA yet should do it immediately.  It's now or never.

Qualities and skills of a good manager

Qualities make a person perfect. To be a good or successful manager,s/he needs some good qualities and skills.

Successes are not magic. The success of a manager comes from wide variety of qualities and skills. The manager must have the sound educational background. Because we know education develops our mind and the range of knowledge. So the manager must have the sound health. The person of weak health can’t work hard. Now we can discuss on the skill of a manager. Skill is the ability to use knowledge, behavior and aptitude to perform a task. Manager needs many skills to perform their duties. For example the technical skill. It is the knowledge of proficiency in activities involving methods, process and procedure. Secondly the human skill. It means the ability to work with different types of people. Thirdly conceptual skill. It is the ability to organize and integrate information to better understand the organization. Next design skill. This skill means the ability to solve the problems in ways that will benefit the company. And lastly the decision making skill and the time management skill.

In conclusion we can understand that a manager needs the above qualities and skills to perform their duties and responsibilities.

This is an assignment done by one of my students

Do not undermine your worth by comparing yourself with others. It is because we are different that each of us is special. Don't set your goals by what other people deem important . Only you know what is best for you.

Communication

>> Better than a thousand hollow words, is one word that brings peace.

>> One kind word can warm three winter months.

>> Man is least himself when he talks in his own person. Give him a mask, and he will tell you the truth.

>> If you say what you think, don't expect to hear only what you like.

>> If you wish your message to hit the target, make adjustment to the wind.

>> The most important thing in communication is to hear what isn't being said

>> Knowledge speaks, but wisdom listens.

>> A good listener is not only popular everywhere, but after a while he knows something

>> A bore is a person who talks when you wish him to listen.

>> Never mistake legibility for communication

“Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent.”Calvin Coolidge
