Bangladesh ratifies Kyoto plan

Dhaka: Bangladesh has ratified the second commitment period of the Kyoto Protocol as the 4th country among the member of the UNFCCC.
 
This came as Dr Aparup Chowdhury, Additional Secretary to the Ministry of Environment and Forests, was presenting Bangladesh country statement at the stocktaking plenary session Saturday at United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP 19 & CMP 9) in Warsaw, Poland.
 
In the statement, the Bangladesh delegation expressed agreement with the statements made by the Group 77 & China, LDC Group, Association of Small Island States (AOSIS) and the African Group.
 
Bangladesh had officially indicated its acceptance for the second phase of the Kyoto Protocol on 13 November, 2013 he declared at the plenary session. Bangladesh also urged all Country Parties to complete the ratification process in order to make the amendments to the Kyoto Protocol effective as early as possible.
