The Solano College Athletics Department will induct eight individuals into the 19th annual Solano College Athletics Hall of Fame on Oct. 3 at Hiddenbrooke Golf Course in Vallejo.
Being inducted into the 2015 class are Alison Aubert, Nadia Cameron Hollomon, Christina Horner, Tom Hassey, Arica Henry, Rex Pettigrew, Holy Smith and Ebonielove Williams.
• Pettigrew was a star athlete at Hogan High, where he played football and baseball. He played baseball at Solano and earned his associate’s degree in Science in 1977. Pettigrew would go on to graduate from San Jose State in 1981 and for the past 35 years has taught physical education and biology at the high school level in the Vallejo City Unified School district. He’s also coached Babe Ruth and Little League teams in Vallejo. From 1988 to 1998, Pettigrew joined Solano head football coach Ron Beverly as the Offensive Line Coach and assisted the Falcons to five bowl game appearances.
• Williams was a star basketball player at Vallejo High and later received the Most Improved Player award at Solano, where she averaged in double figures for both points and rebounds. She is the fourth all-time leading rebounder for a single season with 381. She is Solano’s ninth all-time leading scorer for a career with 819 points.
• Aubert is an athletic trainer that has been with Solano since 1993. She was the athletic trainer for track and field at the 1984 and 1996 Summer Olympic Games. In 2002 she was awarded the 2002 California Athletic Trainer of the Year.
• Cameron Holloman is a star softball player that was the MVP of the Bay Valley Conference in 1998 and was an All American the same year. She would later go on to have a solid career at the University of Tennessee, where she helped lead the Lady Vols to their first-ever SEC championship.
• Horner was a star volleyball player for Solano and was MVP in 2008. She obtained two degrees from Solano, one in Psychology and the other in Social Science.
• Hassey was a Fairfield High graduate who was a track and field star. Hassey’s best event was the triple jump. He owns the third best triple jump in junior college history. He also did very well in professional arm wrestling.
• Henry was a softball star and was the starting pitcher of the year in 1995/1996. She also won the most Inspirational Coaches Award in 1996.
• Smith was another softball star who graduated from Armijo in 1995. After starring at Solano, Smith went on to a solid career at Arizona State and played in the College World Series in 1999.
