To create awareness on environment issues and to engage young groups in developmental work and to ensure safety of our environment, Daffodil International University (DIU) and Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom (FNF) of Germany jointly organized ‘Green Freedom Short Film Competition 2016’. The Grand Finale of the competition was held yesterday (Sunday) on November 20, 2016, 2016 at National Art Galleryof Bangladesh Shilpokala Academy in the capital. ‘Samporka’of Notredem University became champion in the festival while ‘Sabuje Swapno’ of Daffodil International University became 1st Runner Up and ‘The Unknown City’ of University of Dhaka became 2nd Runner Up.
Country’s renowned communication specialist and Chief Information Commissioner Prof. Dr. M Golam Rahman was present at the chief guest at the Grand Finale and distributed Prizes among the winners. Nasir Uddin Yousuf Bachchu, Film Maker, Dr. Jahangir Hossain, Chief Executive Officer, Bangladesh Film & TV Institute, Proshoon Rahman, Film Maker, Ms. Sihinta Sabin Khan, Program Executive, Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom (FNF) were present as the special guests. Presided over by Professor A M M Hamidur Rahman, Dean, Faculty of Humanities and Social Science of DIU, the program was also addressed by Mr. Syed Mizanur Rahman, Director (Student Affair’s) and Dr. A B M Kamal Pasha, Head, Department of Environmental Science and Disaster Management of DIU.



Besides memento and certificate Champion Team won the prize money of Tk. 100,000/- ( One Lac) and 1st Runner Up team won the prize money of Tk. 50,000/- and 2nd Runner Up team won the prize money of Tk. 25,000/=. 73 teams from different public and private universities and colleges took part in the competition. Among them 9 teams were selected for Grand Finale adjudged by the expert panel of Jury board and top 3 teams were defined by the judges evaluation (80%) and Facebook vote (20%).
The main objective of this festival is to create public awareness about the impact of climate change on our environment and necessity of its restoration and inspiring young generation to be involved in environmental development activities.
