our teachers most often assigns us to prepare a formal report on various topics. To prepare a sound formal report it requires a proper format. I am willing to provide a formal report writing format, which can help all the students...

• Letter of transmittal---(to whom it is going to submit)

• List of tables and graphs (Illustrations)

The Report Proper:

• Introduction
• Objective of the report
• Scope of the study
• Methodology (what kind of Method be used)
• Limitations (obstacles and barriers you faced  to collect  information/ data and write report in a proper way)
• Background of the company / industry / Report
• Analysis (Analyze data and information with logical arguments and if necessary place tables and graphs)
• Report findings (Both Positive and negative based on your analysis)
• Recommendation
• Conclusion

Everything was complete but I wanna add something... The report should also be interesting, by interesting I mean the report should also have some sensible, futuristic and "different than other" aspects. For example- if u wanna report about introducing a new product in the market, the product should have some futuristic appeal. Because if it's not then the teacher may loose interest in it...

dear faiyaz

You are right little bit...every report should not contain your frutistic appeals...you are telling about marketing plan or any other business plan which should include some motivational appeals..but, when you are reporting on one company's job satisfaction among employees, comparisons of performanace between tow or more companies, evaluation of different business sectors and so on then it is important to mention all the relevent information and possible efficient points rather than frutistic appeling...

By interesting I meant not only futuristic but also sensiblity. For example- I think that a report should not always be hugely statistically analytic. On contray, it should 60% emphasize on marketing and other social thoughts aspects. Because it'll also enable a simple person to understand the report thus it'll be INTERESTING. I hope you understand...

Thank you,
Mr.Habib. you picked up a very crucial part of our educational program.Actually it is true that in your given format some point can be add or subtract.more over the point can be renamed.it's not fact.so we should not be confused because there is no fixed format for a formal report...
