Entrepreneurship Ideas

Entrepreneurs are those rare breed of individuals who don't just dream about working for themselves, they actually go out and start their own businesses. Often an entrepreneur may be involved in more than one business venture, either hoping one will become the cash cow or diversifying revenues among several business concepts. Success starts with a great concept that is followed by superb business execution.

Cruise Ship Travel Agent
Becoming a cruise ship travel agent is an attractive model for an entrepreneur who wants to work from a home office and does not want to invest in a lot of money to get the business started. According to Entrepreneur Magazine, this business concept requires between $2,000 to $10,000 in start-up capital to purchase computer and phone equipment, obtain the proper training and licensure as well as begin a target marketing campaign. The great thing about this idea is you can start it as a part-time venture until you are making enough money to leave the day job, so the risk of not having enough income is mitigated in the beginning.

Small Spaces Landscaping
Small spaces landscaping is a business concept that brings large-scale yard landscaping into smaller outdoor spaces such as patios, balconies and gazebos. The goal of the small space landscaper is to create custom designs that fulfill the functional and visual desires of clients. The start-up costs are minimal and the job can start part-time while you develop clientele and a portfolio of happy customers. The initial costs go towards general gardening supplies and basic marketing materials such as business cards, website and small business affiliations.

Capitalize on a Hobby
This is a strategy that takes what you already love to do and translates it into a money-making opportunity. If you love painting, you might want to start art classes offered to students or senior citizens. Coin collectors might want to become a coin broker for other collectors. Those who love swimming can start a swim school for infants and toddlers to teach water safety. Whatever your passion is, there is a way to make it a business. The best part of all is that you are able to start deducting expenses related to your hobby against your business.

Franchise Opportunities
Franchising is one way many entrepreneurs take an already established product and start to make money off of it. Whether it is franchising a fast food restaurant, frozen yogurt or retail store, franchising eliminates a lot of the work of finding something that is marketable. The challenge for the entrepreneur is executing the plan and coming up with the capital required by most franchise operations. Keep in mind that franchises may not be home-based and while you are your own boss, you do have to follow the franchise regulations and quality control factors. Each franchise has a different start-up requirement.
