Don't waste waste-materials.
« on: October 11, 2011, 11:50:16 AM »
We have a habit to throw waste material here and there. That's why our Environment become polluted and it is dirty. But it is high time not to waste material have to be wasted.

How can we do this? We have to do something. That means we have to reuse or recycle those waste materials. Some process are given below-

REUSE- Reuse means use same thing again and again. A glass was broken either we can through it in dustbin or we can make a flower vase or pen vase by it. Like this we can use many waste materials by our imaginary power.

RECYCLING- Recycling means processing waste materials as a row materials and producing same things. We can make new glass from broken glass, new cloth from old cloth. We also make fertilizer from our household waste.

you are right...sethy!!!!! :) :).....please see it:

USE OF WASTE MATERIALS : A TYPICAL EXAMPLE
AN EXAMPLE WITH FUSED ELECTRIC BULB

The electric supply in our locality was erratic. The voltage fluctuation was too much. Within months I gathered so many electric bulbs, all fused; those were nothing but useless waste material at home. I gave one bulb each to my students in the class and gave an assignment. Within a week's time they had to come forward with ANY useful productive work they could think of using the fused bulb. The response was wonderful.

You carefully examine the bulb and make a list of such uses that can be made under different headings; then we shall compare the list with others.

We may consider it to be a type of game; fix the time limit and give marks.

Different fields of uses are :

1. Physics

2. Chemistry

3. Life Science

4. Experiments and Demonstration

5. Work Experience (SUPW)

6. Other Purposes

USES OF FUSED ELECTRIC BULBS PERTAINING TO DIFFERENT FIELDS OF STUDY :

 AS SUGGESTED BY PARTICIPANTS

 I. PHYSICS

1. Idea/knowledge of wattage, voltage, current (amperage).

2. Study of physical properties - brittle, malleable, ductile.

3. Examples of (seven) different matals and alloys and their properties.

4. As a convex lens/magnifying glass (by filling the glass envelop with water).

5. Thermionic emission/evaporation of metal by heat (why does the lighting by a bulb gradually decrease and innerside of the glass envelop gets a form of coating).

6 .........................................................

 II. CHEMISTRY

1. Oxidation at high temperature (purpose of the glass envelop; why does a lighted filament get fused if exposed to air).

80

2. Use of the thick wire (connecting the filament) for flame test.

3. Glass-envelop used as a round bottom flask.

4. As a component of distillation apparatus.

5. Broken glass envelop used as a watch glass.

6. For preparing a wash -bottle.

7. For preparing a boiling point apparatus.

8. As a gas preparing apparatus.

9.........................................

 III. LIFE SCIENCE

1. Specimen jar.

2. Petri dish.

3. Simple-microscope/magnifying glass.

4.........................................

 IV. FOR EXPERIMENTS AND DEMONSTRATIONS

1. The bulb explodes while breaks (explain the reason).

2. To show thermal expansions of glass vessel and of liquid.

3. To show convection of heat in liquid.

4. To show types of equilibrium of a body (stable, unstable and neutral).

5. To show optical properties - opaque and transparent.

6. To light the bulb so that the filament is in contact with air. Observe and explain why the filament becomes fragile.

Sojib, I want to give thanks to you for your informative post. See how many things we can produce from a fused bulb.

We can produce new product by recycling process. Here new product are introduce and waste things can be removed. We can do this in case of plastic, glass, paper, cloth, electronics tools, metals etc.It is the right time to be conscious and productive.

In Bangladesh,we are suffering a lot in every step of life due to lack of proper waste management.but i think if we recycle and try to reuse our waste,it will improve environment and somehow economy also.

In the country like ours, the wastes are emerging a huge controversies over the environmental issues. We should make the actual use of our capacity, by recycling the wastes & create productivity from that.

You are absolutely right. It will ensure cost minimization and sustainability of our environment. For this reason, we have to change our mentality, attitudes, and behaviors and so on.

If Waste Management would possible to our country, our country would be more developed and environment would be more healthier..
Until the proper utilization of waste management, we all have be cautious and careful about the usage of waste..
Nice and Informative post,, as well as positive thoughts of everyone...!
