Narrated `Abdullah bin Abi Qatada:
My father said, "One night we were traveling with the Prophet (sallallahu 'alaihi wa sallam) and some people said, 'We wish that Allah's Messenger (sallallahu 'alaihi wa sallam) would take a rest along with us during the last hours of the night.' He said, 'I am afraid that you will sleep and miss the (Fajr) prayer.' Bilal said, 'I will make you get up.' So all slept and Bilal rested his back against his Rahila and he too was overwhelmed (by sleep) and slept. The Prophet (sallallahu 'alaihi wa sallam) got up when the edge of the sun had risen and said, 'O Bilal! What about your statement?' He replied, 'I have never slept such a sleep.' The Prophet (sallallahu 'alaihi wa sallam) said, 'Allah captured your souls when He wished, and released them when He wished. O Bilal! Get up and pronounce the Adhan for the prayer.' The Prophet (sallallahu 'alaihi wa sallam) performed ablution and when the sun came up and became bright, he stood up and prayed."
ইমরান ইব্ন মাইসারা (র.) আবূ কাতাদা (রা.) থেকে বর্ণিত, তিনি বলেন, এক রাতে আমরা রাসূলুল্লাহ্(সা.)-এর সঙ্গে ছিলাম। যাত্রী দলের কেউ কেউ বললেন, ইয়া রাসূলুল্লাহ্! (সা.) রাতের এ শেষ প্রহরে আমাদের নিয়ে যদি একটু বিশ্রাম নিতেন। রাসূলুল্লাহ্(সা.) বললেনঃ আমার ভয় হচ্ছে সালাতের সময়ও তোমরা ঘুমিয়ে থাকবে। বিলাল (রা.) বললেন, আমি আপনাদের জাগিয়ে দিব। কাজেই সবাই শুয়ে পড়লেন। এ দিকে বিলাল (রা.) তাঁর হাওদার গায়ে একটু হেলান দিয়ে বসলেন। এতে তাঁর দু’চোখ মূদে আসল। ফলে তিনি ঘুমিয়ে পড়লেন। সূর্য কেবল উঠতে শুরু করেছে, এমন সময় রাসূলুল্লাহ্(সা.) জাগ্রত হলেন এবং বিলাল (রা.)-কে ডেকে বললেন, হে বিলাল! তোমার কথা গেল কোথায়? বিলাল (রা.) বললেন, আমার এত অধিক ঘুম আর কখনও পায়নি। রাসূলুল্লাহ্(সা.) বললেনঃ আল্লাহ্তা’আলা যখন ইচ্ছা করেছেন তখন তোমাদের রূহ্কব্য করে নিয়েছেন; আবার যখন ইচ্ছা করেছেন তখন তা তোমাদের ফিরিয়ে দিয়েছেন। হে বিলাল! উঠ, লোকদের জন্য সালাতের আযান দাও। তারপর তিনি উযূ করলেন এবং সূর্য যখন উপরে উঠল এবং উজ্জ্বল হলো তখন তিনি দাঁড়ালেন এবং সালাত আদায় করলেন।
