    Minipack Pay Per Use (Max BDT 20/day) is for only prepaid subscribers where Internet usage is chargeable at BDT 0.02/KB up to a maximum of BDT 20/Day, between 12am-11.59pm daily.     Minipack 15MB is an internet offer for both Post-paid & Pre-paid subscribers with data browsing/downloading capacity up to 15MB @ BDT 29 (+VAT). This package has a duration of 15 days starting from the date of activation. Only after 15 days, if the subscriber has sufficient cash balance or credit limit Minipack 15MB will be renewed automatically. If the  subscriber does not have sufficient credit limit or account balance, Minipack 15MB will be deactivated and the subscriber has to activate Minipack 15MB again to use it after recharging.     If a pre-paid subscriber uses 15 MB before expiration of 15 days, he/she will not be able to browse internet anymore but still Minipack 15MB will stay activated till the expiration date. But post-paid subscriber will be charged BDT 0.01/10KB (+VAT) till the expiry date.

If a subscriber uses up his 1MB or 20MMS before expiration of 2 days, he/she will not be able to browse internet or send MMS till the expiration date.     1GB Package P6 is an internet offer of 1 GB per month @ BDT 300+VAT. The package has a validity of 30 days (from the date of activation). After expiration of 1 GB, subscribers will be charged as BDT 0.01/10KB without VAT. After expiration of the 30 days validity, EDGE P6 will be auto renewed only if sufficient Cash Balance remains in subscriber’s account. Auto-renewal feature will be set as default for any subscriber who activates EDGE P6 .If subscriber doesn’t want to Auto-Renew EDGE P6, then Type “OFF” and send to 5000. If sufficient Cash Balance is not available during auto-renewal then EDGE P6 will be discontinued. After recharging with sufficient balance, the subscriber has to activate P6 again.     Heavy Internet browsing Package P2 (FUP enforced after 5GB): P2 is a large screen internet package designed for heavy browsing by advanced users with 30 day validity, monthly charge is BDT 850 (excluding VAT).
    To subscribe to Package 2 (P2), type P2 and SMS to 5000 or dial *500*2*1#. Available for both prepaid and postpaid subscribers.
     

    Prepaid: When a subscriber activates EDGE P2, the auto-renewal feature becomes active by default. But for successful execution, subscriber needs to have sufficient balance (BDT 850+VAT) in his/her account. If the subscriber does not have sufficient balance, then EDGE P2 will be deactivated (applicable for prepaid) and the subscriber has to activate P2 again to use it after recharging.If any subscriber is reluctant to have this "Auto-Renewal" feature, he/she can Type 'OFF' and send SMS to 5000. If he/she wants to resume the service, then he/she has to type 'ON' and send SMS to 5000.

    Postpaid:When a subscriber activates EDGE P2, the auto-renewal feature becomes active by default. But subscriber cannot deactivate or reactivate this "Auto-Renewal" feature on his own.

    * Fair Usage Policy is applicable after 5 GB usage.  As per FUP, speed will be throttled down to 24 kbps during the remaining validity period. Normal speed will be restored in next bill cycle or activation.

    Night Time Heavy Internet browsing Package P3(FUP enforced after 5GB): P3 is a large screen internet package designed for heavy browsing by advanced users during night time, with 30 day validity, monthly charge is BDT 250+VAT. To subscribe to Package 3 (P3), type P3 and send SMS to 5000 or dial *500*3*1#. This package is available for both prepaid and postpaid subscribers. With this package, subscribers can enjoy unlimited internet from 12:00AM to 10:00AM. From day time, i.e. 10:01AM to 11:59PM using P3, browsing charge will be pay-as-you-go tariff of BDT 0.02/KB as per actual usage. Minipack Pay Per Use (Max 20 Taka) offer is not applicable for P3 subscribers.After the 30th day, if the subscriber has sufficient cash balance, EDGE P3 will be renewed automatically . If the subscriber does not have sufficient balance, P3 will be deactivated (applicable for prepaid) and the subscriber has to activate P3 again to use it after recharging. To stop auto renewal, send SMS Off to 5000.

    3GB Package P5 is an internet offer of 3 GB per month @ BDT 700+VAT. The package has a validity of 30 days (from the date of activation). After expiration of 3 GB, subscribers will be charged as BDT 0.01/10KB without VAT. EDGE P5 will be auto renewed only if sufficient Cash Balance remains within subscriber’s Account. Auto-renewal feature will be set as default for any subscriber who activates EDGE P5 .If subscriber doesn’t want to Auto-Renew EDGE P5, then Type “OFF” and send to 5000. Currently the Robi Internet subscribers go directly to pay per use mode after the bundle packet is fully consumed. Infact they do not get any kind of notification prior to 100% consumption of the bundle packet. As a result they lose huge sum of money from their pocket and this creates customer dissatisfaction and also huge complaints. There has been a directive from BTRC also to develop a tool to restrict this unexpected money deduction. Considering the customer centricity and also to get aligned with BTRC directive, Robi has developed a tool which would keep the internet users on a comfort zone. From October 16th 00:00 Hrs, all Robi Internet users will be migrated to pay per use package, ofcourse their bundle packet will be carried forward. To again migrate to bundle package they have to dial USSD code. Please note that subscriber in bundle mode cannot go on to pay per mode without migration and subscriber on pay per mode cannot purchase bundle unless they migrate to bundle package and dial the respective package code. ans: no; all the gprs services need to be activated (wap, web). however, you may use only wap or web browsing if you so wish.

6. what is wap?
ans: wap (wireless application protocol) is a special protocol that enables mobile phone users to access the internet in a simplified format. most handsets have built in wap support.

7. my handset does not support web, but supports wap. can i browse the internet?
ans: yes, you can visit the simplified wap versions of most popular web sites. if you enter the web address, you will be automatically taken to the respective web site’s wap versions.

1. what is a gprs/edge connect card?
ans: it is a device where you can insert a gprs enabled sim card and get connected to the internet through a pc/laptop.

2. how do i install a connect card?
ans: the connect card needs to be connected to either pcmcia port (laptop) or usb port (laptop/pc). most connect cards are bundled with appropriate driver software, which can be installed easily.

3. do i need a data cable for my mobile to use connect card?
ans: no, actually connect card totally eliminates the need for using the handset and its accessories for using internet.

4. can i receive calls during using a connect card?
ans: you have to remove the sim card from your handset in order to insert it in to the connect card and hence you cannot receive calls.

5. why would i use a connect card when i can use internet by connecting my handset through data cable/infra-red?
ans: handset battery charge depletes very fast when it is used for gprs browsing. also, infra-red connectivity is unstable, and a slight movement might cause disconnection.

What is GPRS?

GPRS stand for General Packet Radio Service. GPRS is a type of cellular mobile service by which we can transfer data. This can be compared with the fixed phone dial-up internet service. You can use your PC or the mobile set itself to get the internet service. GPRS offers up to 115 kbps which is faster than fixed phone dial-up service.

How to subscribe and use GPRS on your phone:

To activate GPRS service.

1.    To register "Pay per use" or "No Use No Pay" connection, write 'reg' and send SMS to 111.
2.    To register monthly limited "250tk per month-1GB" connection, write 'm01g' and send SMS to 111.
3.    To register daily limited "08tk per day - 10MB" connection, write 'd10m' and send SMS to 111.
4.    To register Weekly (7 days) limited "40tk per 7 days - 50MB" connection, write 'w50m' and send SMS to 111.
5.    To register Fortnightly (15 days) limited "80tk per 15 days - 100MB" connection, write 'f100m' and send SMS to 111.
6.    To register unlimited GPRS connection, write 'unl' and send SMS to 111.
7.    To register daily unlimited connection, write 'dunl' and send SMS to 111.

To check the Usage of Volume Bundled Package write 'u' and send SMS to 111.

When Daily and Monthly limited or unlimited packages time band and volume have been finished then the connection automatically changed by normal "Pay per use".

It’ll be activated within 24hrs and you will be notified. After notified please configure your hand set with below information.

There are three ways for you to access the internet using your Airtel phone

    You can surf the net directly from your mobile phone, either through World Wide Web or through WAP depending on your handset compatibility. For most handsets, the internet browser can be found under the “Web” menu in your handset’s menu options.
    You can use your Airtel phone as a modem and connect it to a PC via USB cable/IrDA/Bluetooth
    You can insert your Airtel SIM in an EDGE PC Data card & use the card with your laptop/desktop.

1. Using Mobile Internet on your Phone

In order to use Mobile Internet there are certain steps you need to follow

First- You need to have a GPRS/MMS compatible handset.

Second - Your handset needs to be configured for GPRS/EDGE

As soon as you insert your Airtel SIM in your handset for the first time, it will automatically initiate a handset configuration request. If you have a GPRS/EDGE compatible handset, you will soon receive an SMS notification for each of the settings (eg. MMS, WAP etc.).

To avail these services, you just have to save the settings when prompted. In case your handset prompts for a password please enter 1234.

If you have incidentally not saved these settings, simply go to your Airtel menu to receive these settings through SMS-

Using Mobile Internet on your PC

You can also use your Airtel SIM with your computer and laptop to access internet.

You can access the internet in any of the following ways:

    Using your mobile phone as a modem

Connecting your GPRS/EDGE phone to a laptop/desktop allows the phone to function as a wireless data modem, bringing internet to your computer.

There are a number of ways in which you can connect your mobile phone to your computer to make it function like a modem:

a. Bluetooth: Some mobile phones, laptops and PDAs (Personal Digital Assistants) come with built-in Bluetooth. You can pair both your mobile phone and the laptop/PDA for connectivity communication. This gives you the comfort of being connected cable-free

How to use Bluetooth for Connectivity

Step 1:   Turn Bluetooth on in your mobile menu (for some models, you may need to turn on the search mode as well)
Step 2:   Look for "My Bluetooth place” in your computer. Select “Add Bluetooth Device” and add your mobile phone
Step 3: Start setting up the modem.

b. Infrared: Nowadays, most of the mobile phones support Infrared Port (IR-Port) connections. When an IR-port compatible handset is aligned to a PC or laptop, it allows for the two devices to communicate amongst each other without the use of wires.

How to use Infrared for Connectivity

Step 1: Turn the IR-port on in your mobile phone from your menu options, and also in the laptop
Step 2: Place your phone close to your computer (generally up to 1 meter)
Step 3: Start setting up the modem.

Please remember that, for most of the cases, the infrared connection is limited up to 1 m and the mobile device has to be placed within line of sight of the computer.

c. USB Cable: It is also possible to connect your mobile phone to your computer using USB (or serial) cables.  Sometimes, these cables are included with your handset package; if not, these cables can be purchased separately from most electronic stores.

For USB and Infrared set-ups

After your phone has been connected to your computer using USB/IR-port the operational system in your computer will find a new device and will automatically set it up as a modem. In these cases, the operational system will set up the needed software (drivers) by itself.
However, it is possible that some additional software might need to be installed to complete the process. In this case, you can get the required software from the compact discs which are supplied with your mobile phone, or drivers you can download them from the website of your handset company.

For Bluetooth set-ups

For mobiles that have been set-up using Bluetooth, the Bluetooth adapter program will add the new modem to the system). After this has been done, you need to set up the remote connection

Using a Data Card as a modem

An EDGE PC Data Card is an alternative solution that you can use to insert your Airtel SIM in your laptop and bring internet connectivity to your computer!

Most laptops come with Data Card slots. The Data Card slot is generally located on the left or right hand side of your laptop, and will generally have two available locations for the cards to be connected. As you can see in the below picture, the card has to be inserted in the laptop horizontally.

    Registration:
    To enlist any of  the above-mentioned volume pack, compose an SMS with corresponding SMS keyword and send to 5000.
    Activation time:
    Once you receive a confirmation SMS that you have subscribed to volume pack, your usage will be captured under volume pack.
    Important Note:
        Subscriber can buy multiple packs at the same day.
        If you have purchased a volume pack, irrespective to his data balance in DA4 account, s/he can purchase as many data packs as s/he wants. Data Volume will accumulate but Validity date will stand as per latest purchased pack validity.

            Example:

            Suppose, you have purchased FPM (120MB@99TK/15day) on day 1 of a month. Then, on day 10 of that same month, you purchase a P9 pack, (10MB@10TK/1day). His/her data balance will add up in that case, whereas his/her validity date will be 23:59 hour of 11th day of the month. The validity date will not remain till 15th day of the month anymore.
        To check internet balance & validity period, please dial *778*4# (free).
        Once the 'Data Volume' is consumed, meaning internet balance is between 0 to 1 MB, but validity period has not expired yet, you cannot use anymore internet.

        Then, you can do either of the following for further usage:

                  Option A: You can repurchase any of the abovementioned pack again.

                                                                    or,

                  Option B: You can send SMS 'PG2' to 5000 for 10KB/paisa rate +VAT.
        If you choose, option B, then you will be able to browse on 10KB/paisa rate + VAT, till the validity period.
        Any pack validity expiration time is at 23:59 hour (11:59pm at night)
        If your package validity period expires, and you dial to *778*4#, following notification will be displayed, where as date-field will be emplty.

            Remaining Internet: 0.00MB. Validity: 11:59pm

        If your package validity period is valid, and you dial to *778*4#, following notification will be displayed.

    Pack Purchase Policy:
    No internet pack can be purchased between 0:00 hour (12:00 am at night) to 02:00 hour (2:00 am at night) in a given day. However, you can use internet in that time.
