Walking is a major mode of transportation in a developing country like Bangladesh. In urban areas, people should be able to walk with reasonable comfort and safety, as walking is an essential part of a wide variety of activities. People tend to walk from home to the nearest places by means of walkways. They gather wherever they need to take a break or even to change the manner of transportation like bus stands. However there is a negligence towards study of local activities, pedestrian behavior, transportation facilities, flow characteristics, future provisions etc. The lack of concern in this sector has led to complications in the traffic system and pedestrian movement in Dhaka city. Due to inadequate facilities, there exists conflict between pedestrian and motor vehicles in sharing the limited space of the road, which in return results in pedestrian being involved or being the cause of most of the road accidents. Segregating the pedestrian movement from the vehicular in order to reduce the amount of disorder lying within many areas of Dhaka city. In order to revitalize the spaces and utilize it, design of skywalk could separate the pedestrians from the vehicular movement in heavy traffic regions and also add to an overall experience to the people of Dhaka city. This will not only revitalize the area but also create an identity for the futuristic smart city.
