Traffic jam in Dhaka city
« on: November 14, 2011, 12:52:51 PM »
Dhaka is one of the highly populated city in the world. Near about 12 million people live in this city.
Dhaka is a concrete maze that lacks sufficient infrastructure to facilitate easy mobility for its dwellers.

Causes of traffic jam

Narrow roads

Broken roads

Unplanned repairs

A)   Rickshaw: About 66 percent traffic jam of Dhaka city cause by Rickshaw. The number of rickshaws in Dhaka city now exceeds 1 million, of which less than 0.2 million are legally registered.
A rickshaw can carry a maximum of two passengers while a mini-bus can carry about 40 passengers.

B)   Unplanned traffic system in Dhaka: One side is clogged while the other side is virtually empty!
Effect of traffic jam Kill our valuable time. About 2 working hours of every people west on road.

Solution:

1. To improve and enforce the traffic law.
2. Establishment and enforcement of sound parking rules,
3. Rickshaws should be removed.

It is high time to take proper step…………………

In Dhaka city the traffic jam is very much bad situation. It hampers our time. If there is no traffic jam in Dhaka, the life will be a very good of us.

I think, violation of traffic rule and the huge number of cars are the main cause of traffic jam in Dhaka city.

Bangladesh is a poor country. But when I get out from home I think it is a wrong statement. Because there are a lot of privet car. A privet car carry one or two passenger. If we noticed that we can see the main reason of traffic jam is those privet car. So i think Government should take proper step against it. Govt. should take decisions either to build more road, flyover or to make limitation to buy more car.

Main problem is off course personal car. From the time we start using CNG, even middle class family start thinking to effort a car.

Number of traffic increased so that this situation formed.
