EEE / এবার তোশিবার চিপ ব্যবসায় মার্কিন কেকেআর

জাপানি ইলেক্ট্রনিক পণ্য নির্মাতা প্রতিষ্ঠান তোশিবার চিপ ব্যবসা কিনতে একসঙ্গে প্রস্তাব দেওয়ার পরিকল্পনা করছে দেশটির রাষ্ট্রায়ত্ত তহবিল প্রতিষ্ঠান আইএনসিজে ও ব্যক্তি মালিকানাধীন মার্কিন প্রতিষ্ঠান কেকেআর অ্যান্ড কর্পোরেশন এলপি।

ইলেক্ট্রনিক পণ্য নির্মাতা দক্ষিণ কোরীয় প্রতিষ্ঠান স্যামসাংয়ের পরই দ্বিতীয় বৃহত্তম ন্যান্ড চিপ নির্মাতা প্রতিষ্ঠান বিবেচনা করা হয় তোশিবাকে। ইতোমধ্যেই এই ব্যবসা কিনতে আগ্রহ প্রকাশ করেছে অ্যাপল, ফক্সকনের মতো প্রতিষ্ঠান।

আগের সপ্তাহেই ব্যবসা কিনতে নিজেদের আগ্রহের কথা জানায় আইএনসিজে। নিলামের প্রথম রাউন্ডে অংশ না নিলেও দ্বিতীয় রাউন্ডে যোগ দেওয়ার কথা জানায় প্রতিষ্ঠানটি। এবার কেকেআর-এর সঙ্গে মিলে নিলামে ডাক দেবে এই প্রতিষ্ঠান, দেশটির স্থানীয় ব্যবসায়িক দৈনিক নিক্কেই-য়ের বরাতে জানিয়েছে রয়টার্স।

নিলামে অংশ নেওয়ার ব্যাপারে জানতে কেকেআর এবং আইএনসিজে-এর সঙ্গে যোগাযোগ করা হলে কোনো প্রতিষ্ঠানের পক্ষ থেকেই মন্তব্য করা হয়নি।

এর আগে এ বিষয়ের সঙ্গে সম্পৃক্ত এক সূত্রের বরাত দিয়ে রয়টার্স জানায়, তোশিবায় লঘু অংশের জন্য বিনিয়োগ করবে আইএনসিজে। এতে নিলামের অন্য প্রার্থীর কাছে প্রতিষ্ঠান বিক্রির ঝুঁকি কমাতে পারবে সরকার। অন্য প্রার্থীর কাছে প্রতিষ্ঠান বিক্রিকে জাতীয় নিরাপত্তা হিসেবে বিবেচনা করা হচ্ছে।

২০১৫ সালে হিসাব জালিয়াতির ঘটনার পর নড়বড়ে অবস্থায় রয়েছে তোশিবা’র ব্যবসা। এই ঘটনায় কয়েকশ’ কোটি মার্কিন ডলার জরিমানা করা হয় প্রতিষ্ঠানটিকে।

ওই ঘটনার পর বারবার ব্যবসায় ফেরার ইঙ্গিত দিলেও সুবিধাজনক অবস্থানে পৌঁছাতে পারেনি তোশিবা। আগের বকেয়া পরিশোধ করতে ও যুক্তরাষ্ট্রের পারমাণবিক প্ল্যান্টে বিনিয়োগ করতে প্রতিষ্ঠানটি তাদের ব্যবসায়ের কিছু অংশ বিক্রি করার ঘোষণা দেয়।

শুধু চিপ ব্যবসা নয় টেলিভিশন ব্যবসাও বিক্রি করতে পারে তোশিবা। সম্প্রতি টেলিভিশন ব্যবসা কিনতে আগ্রহের কথা জানিয়েছে তুরষ্কভিত্তিক ইলেক্ট্রনিক পণ্য নির্মাতা প্রতিষ্ঠান ভেসটেল।

ইতোমধ্যে চিপ ব্যবসায় নিলামের প্রার্থীর তালিকা ছাঁটাই করেছে তোশিবা। এতে চার প্রতিষ্ঠান অংশ নেবে বলে জানানো হয়েছে। সম্প্রতি চুক্তিভিত্তিক পণ্য নির্মাতা তাইওয়ানিজ প্রতিষ্ঠান ফক্সকন-এর সঙ্গে মিলে নিলামে অংশ নেওয়ার আগ্রহ প্রকাশ করেছে মার্কিন টেক জায়ান্ট অ্যাপল।

বাংলাদেশের বৃহত্তম মোবাইল ফোন অপারেটর গ্রামীণফোনের কলড্রপ নিয়ে এবার টেলিনর গ্রুপের প্রেসিডেন্ট ও প্রধান নির্বাহী কর্মকর্তা সিগভে ব্রেকের কাছে অসন্তোষ জানালেন অর্থমন্ত্রী আবুল মাল আবদুল মুহিত।

বৈঠক শেষে মুহিত বিডিনিউজ টোয়েন্টিফোর ডটকমকে বলেন, “টেলিনর প্রেসিডেন্টকে আমি বলেছি, তোমাদের বিরুদ্ধে আমার অভিযোগ প্রত্যেকবার একটা; এত কলড্রপ হয় কেন?

“তিনি আমার অভিযোগ স্বীকার করে বলেছেন, আমরা তাদের যে স্পেকট্রাম (তরঙ্গ) দিয়েছি সেটা সাফিসিয়েন্ট (যথেষ্ট) নয়। তিনি বললেন, আমাদের স্পেকটাম ডিভাইডেড টু পার্ট। একটি হচ্ছে-ডেটা এবং অপরটি টেলিফোন (ভয়েস)। ডেটাতে অনেক আনইউজড ক্যাপাসিটি আছে। কিন্তু টেলিফোনে নেই। সে কারণেই এই কলড্রপ সমস্যা।”

১৯৯৭ সালে কার্যক্রম শুরু করা গ্রামীণফোনের ৫৫.৮ শতাংশের মালিকানা রয়েছে নরওয়ের কোম্পানি টেলিনরের হাতে।

কলড্রপ সমস্যা নিরসনে আরও তরঙ্গ বরাদ্দ টেলিনর প্রেসিডেন্ট চেয়েছেন বলে জানান অর্থমন্ত্রী।

তিনি বলেন, “নামে থ্রি জি হয়েছে বলা হলেও আসলে আমরা কিন্তু টু জিতেই আছি। এখন আমাদের ফোর জিতে যেতে হবে। টেলিনর প্রেসিডেন্টও সেই গুরুত্বই দিয়েছেন।

ফোর জির নিলামের বিষয়ে দেশে ফিরেই বিটিআরসির চেয়ারম্যানের সঙ্গে কথা বলবেন বলে জানান মুহিত।

কবে নাগাদ নিলাম ডাকা হবে-এ প্রশ্নে তিনি বলেন, ‍“দেশে ফিরেই আমার আবার মে মাসের প্রথম সপ্তাহে এডিবির বার্ষিক সভায় যোগ দিতে জাপান যেতে হবে। তার পর বাজেট…। বাজেটের পর অকশন ডাকা হবে।”

পাঁচ কোটির বেশি গ্রাহকের অপারেটর গ্রামীণফোনের কলড্রপের বিষয়টি এর আগেও আলোচনায় এসেছে। প্রতিটি ভয়েস কল ড্রপের জন্য এক মিনিট ক্ষতিপূরণের ঘোষণাও দিয়েছিল তারা।

গত বছরের ১ অক্টোবর থেকে ওই ‘অফার’ চালুর কথা ফলাও করে প্রচার করলেও ‘গ্রাহকদের না জানিয়েই’ কয়েক দিনের মধ্যে তা বন্ধ করে দেওয়া হয় বলে অভিযোগ রয়েছে।

Clamp the wires onto the pins. Use a small clip or vise to keep them firmly in place. None of the three wires should touch the other two.
Solder the wires to the plug. Use sandpaper to roughen the edges to make it easier to solder to metal. Apply solder to a pin. Heat the pin to melt the solder. Repeat for the other two wires.

Connect the wires to the probes. Separate each of the three wires in your cable. Twist any frayed ends together so each wire has a thin tip. Tie these firmly to the jack plug as follows:[8]
Bare copper wire connects to the sleeve probe, the longest piece of metal. If there is no bare wire, connect the wire with striped insulation.
The remaining two (insulated) wires connect to the other two pins (the tip and ring probes). There's no universal color code for these. If you connect them the wrong way round, the left and right audio will be switched. The headphones will otherwise work fine.

Fit the plug parts over the cable. Unscrew the new plug. Slip the cover and spring over the end of the cable. Slip on a piece of shrink tubing as well.
The plug base should have two pins sticking out of the end. If it only has one, then you have got a mono, not stereo, plug.

Strip the wire with wire strippers. There will normally be one "loose" wire (unshielded) and two insulated, or shielded, wires. The bare one will be the earth or ground wire, the others are left signal and right signal.
Side-by-side cables have an additional bare wire, but are otherwise the same as single cables.

Remove the old plug. Some plugs can be unscrewed from the cable. If your plug is molded on to the plastic, you'll need to cut it off instead, about 1 inch (2.5 cm) from the plug.
If your plug unscrews, look at the wires. If they all seem connected and unbroken, cut the cable off anyway. The problem is probably in the cable right next to the plug.

Purchase a new jack plug. You can find these for cheap online or at an electronics store. Select a metal plug with stereo connection and a spring. Make sure it's the same size as your old plug, typically 3.5mm.

Slide your shrink tube over the repair. Warm with a heat gun to shrink it. Aren't you glad you slid it over before your soldered?
The tube should shrink down to a quarter of its original size, fitting snugly to protect and strengthen your newly repaired section of cable.

Solder the connections. Use a soldering iron to melt a small dab of solder over the wires. Repeat for each splice. Let cool.
Bare wires without insulation usually have a thin coat of protection. Sand this off or burn it off with the soldering iron before you solder. Avoid breathing in the fumes.[6]
Once cooled, wrap the two pairs of joins in electrical tape to ensure the red and white ends are kept separate from the ground wire.

Splice the wires. This means you'll be joining the wires together. Make sure to connect wires with the same color insulation (or no insulation). You have two options: a pigtail splice and an in-line splice.[5]
For a pigtail splice, hold the two exposed sections of wire that you want to join parallel to each other, then twist them together to create a join. This is quick and easy, but the repair will be bulkier.
For an in-line splice, hold the wires so that they overlap end to end. Twist the wires in opposite directions. This is more difficult but the repair is easier to hide.

Slide on a shrink tube. This is a rubber tubing that looks just like the rest of your headphone cable. Slide it onto the cable for later. After your repair, you'll slide this back over the open area to protect it.
If you had to cut the wire several times to find the problem, slip on a tube over each cut.

Cut the cord. Cut the cord in half. If the wire inside is shredded, cut on either side of it to remove the problem. If you do this, remove the same amount from the left and right cords. Uneven lengths of cord can cause electrical damage to your headphones.[3]
If only one of your wires is broken, you might want to skip to soldering the wire, without cutting or splicing.[4] This will save time, but the repair will be less sturdy.

Strip off insulation. Use wire strippers, or carefully run a knife around the outside of the cable. Remove ½ inch (1.25 cm) of the outer shielding. Extend the cut in either direction until you see a broken wire. This is the area you'll need to repair.
If your cable looks like two cables glued together, each one will contain an insulated wire (the signal) and a bare wire (the ground).
Apple headphones and other headphones with single cables have two insulated wires (the left and right signal) and a single bare ground wire.

Test the cable. Wear the headphones and turn on audio. Bend the cable 90 degrees across the top of your thumb and run it along the length of the cable. When the sound crackles or cuts in and out, you have found the problem.[2] If the problem is near the plug, see Fixing the Plug for repair instructions. Otherwise, continue to the next step.
When you know that you've found the site of the break, mark it with a piece of electrical tape.
If you already found the problem with a multimeter, skip this step.
