ফিঙ্গারপ্রিন্ট সেন্সর সমৃদ্ধ লেনদেন কার্ড উন্মোচন করেছে ক্রেডিট কার্ড সেবাদাতা প্রতিষ্ঠান মাস্টারকার্ড।
দক্ষিণ আফ্রিকায় সফলভাবে দুইবার পরীক্ষা চালানোর পর এই ডিভাইস উন্মোচন করা হল। মোবাইল লেনদেনের মতো একই উপায়ে এই প্রযুক্তি কাজ করে। কোনো কিছু ক্রয়ের সময় ব্যবহারকারীকে কার্ডের সেন্সরের উপর তার আঙ্গুল রাখতে হবে। নিরাপত্তা বিশেষজ্ঞরা জানিয়েছেন, এই ফিঙ্গারপ্রিন্ট ব্যবহার পুরোপুরি অব্যর্থ নয়। তবে, এটি বায়োমেট্রিক প্রযুক্তি ব্যবহারের একটি ‘বিচক্ষণ’ উপায়।

যদিও ফিঙ্গারপ্রিন্ট সেন্সরও ক্ষতিগ্রস্থ হতে পারে, বলা হয়েছে বিবিসি’র এক প্রতিবেদনে। জার্মানির বার্লিনের সিকিউরিটি রিসার্চ ল্যাবস-এর প্রধান বিজ্ঞানী কার্সটেন নওল বিবিসি’কে বলেন, “আমার যা দরকার তা হচ্ছে আগে আপনি স্পর্শ করেছেন এমন একটি গ্লাস বা কিছু।” যদি এই তথ্য হাতিয়ে নেওয়া হয়, তবে “আপনার অপশন শেষ হওয়ার আগে আপনার কাছে শুধু নয়টি ফিঙ্গারপ্রিন্ট বদলের সুযোগ রয়েছে।” অন্যদিকে, এই প্রযুক্তি নিয়ে আশাবাদীও তিনি। “বর্তমানে আমাদের যা আছে তার চেয়ে এটি ভালো”- বলেন তিনি।

আগের বায়োমেট্রিক লেনদেন কার্ডগুলোকে শুধু আলাদা কোনো একটি ফিঙ্গারপ্রিন্ট স্ক্যানারের সঙ্গে যুক্ত করলেই কাজ করত। এটি ওই কার্ডগুলোর ব্যবহার উপযোগিতা কমিয়ে দেয়। একই কার্ডে ডেটা আর স্ক্যানার রাখার মানে হচ্ছে এগুলো সাধারণ চিপ বা পিন লেনদেন কার্ড যে কোনোটি ব্যবহারের জায়গায়ই কাজ করা ক্ষমতা রাখে।

Virtual reality technology could become a popular travel tool during the booking process, allowing consumers to explore their hotel room, cruise cabin or destination before they plonk down their hard-earned money.
At its Singapore office, Expedia showed Mashable a demo of the kinds of products they're working on at their new innovation lab facility.Travelers shopping for a hotel room or cruise, for instance, could don their headsets and get a virtual tour of rooms and cabins, sliding open doors and stepping out onto the balcony.
It's not the first time Expedia has toyed with the potential of VR.
In a charitable collaboration with St. Jude's Children's Hospital last year, Expedia brought the world to sick, bed-ridden children with 360-degree cameras, interactive live-streaming technology and room projections.
Kids momentarily forgot about their illness as they were whisked to Patagonia, the jungle, the depths of the ocean, and embarked on fossil hunts with archeologists in the desert.
The company is also looking at how Amazon's Echo voice-controlled speaker devices could help the travel process.
Last year, Expedia partnered with Amazon to launch a new feature that allows consumers to interact with their Alexa-enabled Amazon Echo and Echo Dot devices and receive real-time updates on their travel itineraries, including hotel bookings, flight status, loyalty points balance and rental car reservations.
Likewise, the company also launched an Expedia bot last year, allowing travelers to book a hotel room directly on Facebook or Messenger.

Technology giant Google Inc will open a merchant account in Bangladesh to take on board the tech-savvy Bangladeshi youths and facilitate their freelance work.
State Minister for Information and Communication Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak received the assurance from the world’s leading technology firm at a meeting in the US recently.
The Information and Communication Technology Division issued a media statement on Sunday on his visit.
Palak flew to Silicon Valley in California and held separate meetings with the University of California, Berkeley, Facebook Inc, Nuance Communications, and PayPal-Zoom between Mar 31 and Apr 2.
At a meeting with the Google executives, Palak pointed out that Bangladeshi youths have made their mark by developing the technology sector, but they cannot transfer their money for not having a merchant account in Bangladesh.
Google’s Public Policy Senior Council Wilson L White promised to take steps to open the merchant account.
The media statement quoted White as saying that they were keen to work with the ICT Division of Bangladesh to start ‘Google Launchpad’ and ‘Google for Entrepreneur’ programmes.
Both teams agreed to provide technical support to each other in the project ‘Innovation Design and Entrepreneurship Academy’ to enable Bangladeshi start-ups to use Google start-up tools free of cost.
Facebook’s Vice-President Ime Archibong said they were working on ‘Facebook and Billing’ banking channel.
Facebook authorities promised to verify accounts of Bangladeshi opinion leaders, start Facebook workspace at government offices, create opportunity for elected local start-ups at the Facebook developers' conference, and cooperate about the ‘social media expo’ to be held in Bangladesh in May.
Palak also met Nuance Communications Chairman and CEO Paul Richie and urged him to work on natural language processing, screen reading, speech-to-next, text-to-speech and Bangla corpus.
The statement said Richie showed interest to work with the ICT Division in those areas.
Nuance Communications is a software developer that also works as a language research affiliate of Apple Inc and Samsung.
Online money transfer platform PayPal-Xoom said they would start operations in Bangladesh soon, when Palak asked them.
Palak started for Argentina on Apr 2 to take part in the Young Global Leader Alumni Summit and returned to Bangladesh on Apr 6.

ডায়াবেটিস নিয়ন্ত্রণে সেন্সর তৈরির লক্ষ্যে একদল জৈবচিকিৎসা প্রকৌশলী নিয়োগ দিয়েছে অ্যাপল। কিন্তু প্রকল্পটি আপাতত গোপন রাখছে মার্কিন টেক জায়ান্ট প্রতিষ্ঠানটি।

EEE / অভিযান স্থগিত, ঢাকায় সিটিং বাস আপাতত চলবে

বাস মালিকদের সঙ্গে আলোচনার পর সিটিং সার্ভিসের বিরুদ্ধে চলমান অভিযান স্থগিতের সিদ্ধান্ত নিয়েছে বাংলাদেশ সড়ক পরিবহন কর্তৃপক্ষ- বিআরটিএ।
আগামী ১৫ দিন সিটিং সার্ভিস চলতে কোনো বাধা দেওয়া হবে না। তবে এসব বাসে সরকার নির্ধারিত হারের অতিরিক্ত ভাড়া আদায় করা যাবে না বলে জানিয়েছে বিআরটিএ। ১৫ দিন পর পরিবহন মালিক, যাত্রীসহ সংশ্লিষ্ট সবার সঙ্গে আলোচনা করে সিটিং সার্ভিসের বিষয়ে সিদ্ধান্ত নেওয়া হবে বলে জানান বিআরটিএ চেয়ারম্যান মো. মশিয়ার রহমান। বিআরটিএর দেওয়া রুট পারমিটে সিটিং বাস চালানোর বৈধতা না থাকলেও রাজধানীতে বহু দিন ধরেই চলছে এই ধরনের বাস। এই বাসের ভাড়া বেশি রাখা হলেও সেবা নিয়ে যাত্রীদের অভিযোগ বরাবরই ছিল।
বাস মালিকরা ঘোষণা দিয়ে গত রোববার সিটিং সার্ভিসের বাস চালানো বন্ধের ঘোষণা দেওয়ার পর বিআরটিএর ভ্রাম্যমাণ আদালত এর বিরুদ্ধে অভিযানে নামে। এতে অনেক বাস মালিক সড়কে গাড়ি না নামালে দেখা দেয় পরিবহন সঙ্কট। ভাড়া নিয়ে যাত্রী ও পরিবহন শ্রমিকদের বচসার মধ্যে বাস সঙ্কটের দুর্ভোগ চলছে গত তিন দিন ধরে। এই অবস্থার মধ্যে বুধবার বিকালে রাজধানীর তেজগাঁওয়ের এলেনবাড়ীতে বিআরটিএর কার্যালয়ে বৈঠকে ডাকা হয় পরিবহন শ্রমিকদের।
বিআরটিএ চেয়ারম্যান মশিয়ার সাংবাদিকদের বলেন, আগামী ১৫ দিন সিটিং সার্ভিসের বিরুদ্ধে অভিযান বন্ধ থাকবে। তারপর সংশ্লিষ্ট সবাইকে নিয়ে বসে এই বিষয়ে একটি সিদ্ধান্ত নিতে হবে। এই সময়ের মধ্যে বিআরটিএ নির্ধারিত চার্ট অনুযায়ী সব বাসের ভাড়া নিতে হবে বলে জানান তিনি। তা না করলে সড়কে কার্যরত ভ্রাম্যমাণ আদালত ব্যবস্থা নেবে বলে তিনি জানান। “কোনো অবস্থাতেই ভাড়ার ব্যাপারে আপস করব না। সরকারি হিসাবে কিলোমিটার প্রতি যা ভাড়া আছে, তা নিতে হবে।”
এই পদক্ষেপ থেকে সরে আসার বিষয়ে মশিয়ার বলেন, “একটা উদ্দেশ্য নিয়েই মালিকরা সিটিং সার্ভিস বন্ধ করেছিলেন। তাদের আবেদনের পরিপ্রেক্ষিতে আমরা তাদের সে উদ্যোগে সহায়তা করেছি। “তবে সিটিং সার্ভিস বন্ধ হওয়ার পর নারী, শিশু, বয়স্ক ও প্রতিবন্ধী যাত্রীদের অসুবিধার কথা বিভিন্ন গণমাধ্যমে উঠে এসেছে। তাদের গাড়িতে উঠতে সমস্যা হচ্ছে।” বৈঠকের পর ঢাকা সড়ক পরিবহন মালিক সমিতির সাধারণ সম্পাদক খন্দকার এনায়েত উল্লাহ সাংবাদিকদের বলেন, অভিযান স্থগিতের সিদ্ধান্ত পরিবহন মালিকদের নয়। “আপনারা হয়তো বলতে পারেন আমরা যুক্তি করে এটা করেছি, কিন্তু তা না। এখানে মালিকদের কেউ কথা বলেনি। এটা মালিকদের সিদ্ধান্ত না। সবার কথা শুনে বিআরটিএ চেয়ারম্যান এই সিদ্ধান্ত নিয়েছেন।”
বৈঠকে নিরাপদ সড়ক চাই আন্দোলনের নেতা অভিনেতা ইলিয়াস কাঞ্চনও ছিলেন। তবে বৈঠক শেষে তিনি কোনো কথা বলেননি। বিআরটিএর একজন কর্মকর্তা বিডিনিউজ টোয়েন্টিফোর ডটকমকে বলেন, “ইলিয়াস কাঞ্চন সিটিং সার্ভিসের বিরুদ্ধে অভিযান চালানোর পক্ষে ছিলেন।” বৈঠকে সাংবাদিক নাইমুল ইসলাম খান, ট্রাক কভার্ড ভ্যান মালিক সমিতির সভাপতি রুস্তম আলী, ঢাকা মহানগর পুলিশের প্রতিনিধি এবং পরিবহন মালিকরা উপস্থিত ছিলেন। এনায়েত উল্লাহ দাবি করেন, তারা সড়কে শৃঙ্খলা আনার লক্ষ্যে সিটিং সার্ভিস বন্ধের পদক্ষেপ নিয়েছিলেন।
“আমরা কাজটা ধরেছিলাম যে জিনিসটাকে শৃঙ্খলার মধ্যে নিয়ে আসি। শৃঙ্খলা এলে দরকার হলে এই ভাড়া দিয়েই সিটিং সার্ভিস চালু করে দিতাম। কিন্তু তারপরও আমরা সমালোচনার পাত্র হচ্ছিলাম।”
আগামী ১৫ দিন সিটিং সার্ভিস চলতে কোনো বাধা দেওয়া হবে না। তবে এসব বাসে সরকার নির্ধারিত হারের অতিরিক্ত ভাড়া আদায় করা যাবে না বলে জানিয়েছে বিআরটিএ। ১৫ দিন পর পরিবহন মালিক, যাত্রীসহ সংশ্লিষ্ট সবার সঙ্গে আলোচনা করে সিটিং সার্ভিসের বিষয়ে সিদ্ধান্ত নেওয়া হবে বলে জানান বিআরটিএ চেয়ারম্যান মো. মশিয়ার রহমান। বিআরটিএর দেওয়া রুট পারমিটে সিটিং বাস চালানোর বৈধতা না থাকলেও রাজধানীতে বহু দিন ধরেই চলছে এই ধরনের বাস। এই বাসের ভাড়া বেশি রাখা হলেও সেবা নিয়ে যাত্রীদের অভিযোগ বরাবরই ছিল।
বাস মালিকরা ঘোষণা দিয়ে গত রোববার সিটিং সার্ভিসের বাস চালানো বন্ধের ঘোষণা দেওয়ার পর বিআরটিএর ভ্রাম্যমাণ আদালত এর বিরুদ্ধে অভিযানে নামে। এতে অনেক বাস মালিক সড়কে গাড়ি না নামালে দেখা দেয় পরিবহন সঙ্কট। ভাড়া নিয়ে যাত্রী ও পরিবহন শ্রমিকদের বচসার মধ্যে বাস সঙ্কটের দুর্ভোগ চলছে গত তিন দিন ধরে। এই অবস্থার মধ্যে বুধবার বিকালে রাজধানীর তেজগাঁওয়ের এলেনবাড়ীতে বিআরটিএর কার্যালয়ে বৈঠকে ডাকা হয় পরিবহন শ্রমিকদের।
বিআরটিএ চেয়ারম্যান মশিয়ার সাংবাদিকদের বলেন, আগামী ১৫ দিন সিটিং সার্ভিসের বিরুদ্ধে অভিযান বন্ধ থাকবে। তারপর সংশ্লিষ্ট সবাইকে নিয়ে বসে এই বিষয়ে একটি সিদ্ধান্ত নিতে হবে। এই সময়ের মধ্যে বিআরটিএ নির্ধারিত চার্ট অনুযায়ী সব বাসের ভাড়া নিতে হবে বলে জানান তিনি। তা না করলে সড়কে কার্যরত ভ্রাম্যমাণ আদালত ব্যবস্থা নেবে বলে তিনি জানান। “কোনো অবস্থাতেই ভাড়ার ব্যাপারে আপস করব না। সরকারি হিসাবে কিলোমিটার প্রতি যা ভাড়া আছে, তা নিতে হবে।”
