Applications are invited for scholarship/post doctoral fellowship under the EU sponsored cLINK and FUSION project from Bangladeshi nationals who are currently pursuing Undergrad/Masters/PhD in any reputed public/private universities in Bangladesh. Under these projects Bangladeshi students/researchers will get an opportunity to carry out part of their study/research in certain thematic areas in one of the partner European universities.  Note that European universities will not confer any degree. They will give you opportunity to pursue part of your study there. You have to be a regular undergrad/master/PhD student in a local private/public university to qualify for the scholarship.  Scholarship will cover monthly subsistence allowance, return airfare, tuition/bench fees and insurance coverage. Please visit www.clink-edu.eu and  www.fusion-edu.eu for details about the cLINK and FUSION  scholarship respectively and visit  www.clink-edu-apply.org  and www.fusion-edu-apply.org  for application procedure. It is worth mentioning that some positions have been kept reserved for candidates with disabilities and candidates from indigenous ethnic communities.

Departments / Re: Condition of New building where CSE has been moved.
« on: April 20, 2011, 06:11:22 PM »
Dear Gentlemen

Thanks for raising these problems. Regarding air condition as you all are aware that Government stops giving permission to all sorts of electric connection last 2 years and due to this reason we can’t set-up air-condition system fully at our administrative building. Despite this limitation, DIU authority trying to give best service to its students and install air conditions in some common spaces like as lounges.
About replaying any post, DIU management always try to solve and answer any problem related issues. But due to busyness with recent IEB accreditation body (which is very much essential for our science faculty students to get international professional recognition of their degree), we failed to answer promptly. Moreover solving problem is more important than give replay.

This forum is open for all the students, faculty, staffs of DIU and authority always encourage constructive criticisms from the members, which help us to improve ourselves more and give better services to our students. But unfortunately some member misuses this opportunity by posting unwanted negative writing which is un-expectable.

Dear Friends,
I am writing to you about an interesting opportunity for some of your most deserving students to study in an academic environment that I believe may change their lives. The International University College of Turin (IUC) is now taking applications for the 2011-2012 Academic Year.  All students accepted have the possibility of receiving partial and in most cases full scholarships to attend our program (including accommodation, monthly living stipend, travel expenses and more).

 Eligibility

   * Candidates from diverse backgrounds with an emphasis on law, economics, finance (business or accounting,) political science, anthropology, and sociology.
   * Candidates must be at the Masters level, meaning graduation from their undergraduate program by July 2011 (does not apply to exchange students).
   * Additionally a high level of English language ability (IELTS 6.5 or 7) is required.  While students are not required to submit an IELTS or TOEFL score (though highly encouraged) with their application, we do expect in this case that the candidate provide some other equivalent method of reviewing language level (e.g. an academic paper written in English).

To give you some background on the college and our program:

The IUC was established in 2006 for the interdisciplinary and comparative study of law, economics and finance, in response to the clear lack of a transnational set of normative principles capable of controlling economic processes. The program specifically looks to engage students and young scholars from all over the world with special emphasis on the periphery, or 'global south', with leading figures in economics, law and the humanities.

The IUC offers a 1 year LLM program in Comparative Law, Economics and Finance as well as a 2 year MSc.  A number of renown intellectuals and scholars from around the world serve on the faculty and advisory board, including: Guido Calabresi (former Dean of the Yale School of Law), David Gerber (Chicago Kent School of Law), Josef Halevi (University of Sydney), Duncan Kennedy (Harvard Law School), Ugo Mattei (University of Torino & University of California, Hastings), Stefano Rodotà (coauthor of the European Charter of Fundamental Rights), Amartya Sen (Nobel Laureate), Gunther Teubner (Frankfurt School), Jan Toporowski (SOAS, University of London), Gustavo Zagrebelsky (Emeritus President of the Italian Constitutional Court).

Our students are from more than 40 different countries, spanning four continents, representative of a diverse range of disciplines and cultural backgrounds, with a focus on offering opportunities to students coming from social, economic, and/or political challenges, particularly students from former colonized territories (e.g., the global south) and other newer peripheries.

We have already established partnerships with institutions from around the globe including: The University of Copenhagen (DK), University of California, Hastings (USA), University of Fribourg (Switzerland), University of Illinois, Universidad Pompeu Fabra (Barcelona), Universidad de Chile (Santiago), Universidad de Concepcion (Chile), Universidad Torcuato di Tella, Universidad Nacional Mayor De San Marcos (Peru), Libera Università Internazionale degli Studi Sociali Guido Carli (Rome), Lanzhou University (China), Ruaha University College (Tanzania), Université de Bamako (Mali), National Law School of India University (Bangalore), Universidad San Francisco Xavier de Chuquisaca (Bolivia), University of Eastern Piedmont (Italy), Radzyner School of Law, Herzliya (Israel), Institut des Hautes Etudes sur la Justice (Paris), Universidad Nacional del Sur, Bahia Blanca (Argentina), Center for International Media Ethics (USA, Paris) Higher School of Economics (Moscow), UN Commission of International Trade Law (UNCITRAL), UN Interregional Crime and Justice Research (UNICRI), International Training Center-International Labor Organization (ITC-ILO). For more information see: http://www.iuctorino.it/

Attached here is the 2011-2012 Application and Application Instructions, please forward them on to your friends, students and colleagues! They can also be downloaded from our website: http://www.iuctorino.it/content/application. The deadline for all application materials is May 15th, 2011 by midnight CET.

The Dag Hammarskjöld Scholarship Fund for Journalists
[radio, television, print and web]

The Dag Hammarskjöld Scholarship Fund for Journalists is now accepting applications from professional journalists from developing countries for its 2011 Fellowship Program. The application deadline is April 6, 2011.

The Fellowships are available to radio, television, print and web journalists, age 25 to 35, from developing countries who are interested in coming to New York to report on international affairs during the 66th session of the United Nations General Assembly. The Fellowships will begin in mid-September and extend to late November and will include the cost of travel and accommodations in New York, as well as a per diem allowance.

The Fellowship Program is open to journalists who are native to one of the developing countries in Africa, Asia, South America and the Caribbean, and are currently working full-time for a bona fide media organization in a developing nation. Applicants must demonstrate an interest in and commitment to international affairs and to conveying a better understanding of the United Nations to their readers and audiences. They must also have approval from their media organizations to spend up to two months in New York to report from the United Nations.

NOTE: For 2011 only, the Fund will not accept applications from the countries of the 2010 Fellows – Nepal, Peru, South Africa and Togo – in an effort to rotate recipient countries.

The journalists who are awarded Fellowships are given the incomparable opportunity to observe international diplomatic deliberations at the United Nations, to make professional contacts that will serve them for years to come, to interact with seasoned journalists from around the world, and to gain a broader perspective and understanding of matters of global concern. Many past Fellows have risen to prominence in their professions and countries. The program is not intended to provide basic skills training to journalists, as all participants must be working media professionals.

This is the 50th year the Dag Hammarskjöld Scholarship Fund has sponsored the fellowship program for journalists. The program is administered on a volunteer basis by journalists at the United Nations, who raise money from foundations, corporations and diplomatic missions to finance it.

Click here for full eligibility and documentation requirements and Fellowship application form. Questions about the program, eligibility and application process can be directed to info2@unjournalismfellowship.org.

All the best

Mike
