Climate Change: Impacts

Above all, the changes in climate that we have been witnessing are hard to predict as a result of the eccentricity they hold. Nevertheless, some of the most dangerous impacts of climate change the world has witnessed so far are listed below.

Risen Temperatures
The gases emitted by automobiles, factories, deforestation, etc. have trapped heat that is supposed to be radiated back to space, thereby, warming up the planet. Note that the past records may represent a rise of just a degree in the atmosphere, but even 1 degree is enough to warm the planet earth to a great extent. Higher temperatures have contributed to some horrifying health impacts of climate change such as increased deaths and illnesses, and other natural impacts such as storm intensities, and rise in the sea levels.

Rise in Sea Levels
As a result of a phenomenon called thermal expansion, melting glaciers have increased the level of seas due to increase in temperatures. This rise in the level of seas has augmented floods on low-lying areas, thus, eroding shores, damaging property, and thrashing ecology as a whole. Rising seas have highly contributed to the life-threatening economic impacts of climate change.

Shifting Landscapes
The changing patterns in rainfall and temperatures have forced the vegetation all around the world to shift towards the polar regions, thereby, undermining all the efforts of the conservation communes. This has highly affected national parks, land trusts, and world preserves.

Impact on Wildlife
One of the deadliest impacts of climate change is upon the wildlife. Experts believe that by 2050, one-fourth of the animal species on earth will head towards extinction as a result of this perpetual global warming. Changes in temperature, weather, and vegetation are forcing animals to move towards cooler regions of the earth for survival, which is likely to affect their existence as a whole.

Economic Catastrophes
Impacts of climate change on agriculture businesses, world infrastructure, and coral reefs have already cost the government a pretty penny. If not acted upon, climate change can have some utter damaging effects on the world property as a result of flash floods, hurricanes, and downpours. These calamities have potentially cost the government billions of dollars. Also, drought and famines in many agricultural regions has led to decline in crop yields, thereby, putting countless people's lives at stake.

The impacts of climate change on the world have hit the world like none other. While the poor are the most dependent on natural resources for their sustenance, the deadly effects of change in climate have made it impossible for them to putting up with it. Illnesses, natural calamities, and decline in crop production are few of the major impacts of climate change which, if not taken care of, can be responsible for scourging world's most susceptible biotic regions.

Library of DIU / Practice to read more books
« on: October 23, 2010, 12:03:01 AM »
We all are know that books are our best friend. When you have felt lonely, a book can give you company. Some books give you joy, some books give you pain. We should collect different types of book like- Poem, Novel, Story, Science fiction & others. The biggest difference between reading a book and watching a movie is the scope to unleash your own creativity. In movies, the concept is conceived by the writer and director and presented before you in a specific form. On the other hand, the writer does conceive the concept of the book, but you are also given ample freedom to unleash your creative thinking and power of imagination.

We should try to read more books to develop our own thinking. I believe that, anyone will keep control on his/her life if he/she can take a book as a friend. So, my humbly request to all of my friends, when you get free time you read any type of book. Inshallah, You will be a successful person in your life.

Best wishes for all.

Heritage/Culture / Decreasing our traditional song
« on: October 21, 2010, 07:10:47 AM »
Our traditional songs are losing their popularity and western music is having an inevitable influence on our music and culture. Bangladeshi modern songs are sung in western melody. Even use of the western instrument is inevitable in Bangladesh music. Dhol, Tabla, Sharad, Shetara, Dotara are being replaces bu guitar, drum, keyboard, harmonium and piano etc. Popularity of our traditional songs like jatra, jarigan, sharigan, kabigan, palligiti, Nazrul shangeet, Rabindranath shangeet is decreasing. Hindi music and English music are getting popular day by day. Band music and pop music are getting popular fast among the young generation.

This is a positive at the same time negative sign because of Hindi music and western music we forget and neglect our rich musical tradition.

Here two bad things that is helpful in our career:

1. Failure: we all are know that failure is the key of success. If we will not to get the taste of failure, so we can't understand the meaning of success. When we become failure, we should try to recover it.

2. Obstinacy: Everyone should have obstinacy for better something. I believe that, we can do everything which is better if we have obstinacy.

Various Resource for Career Development / Really is it necessary ??
« on: October 11, 2010, 12:40:20 AM »
Everyone so worried to build their career. For this reason we all are busy with our study, cause we believe that we can't be a successful person & can't to build our career without bookish knowledge. We can't get a good job without only better marks. Actually only bookish knowledge is necessary to build our career??????

I don't believe it. Of course better marks & good GPA is important to establish our career, but many extra knowledge should have there. Yeahh...I have better GPA & my teachers are tell me you are so good student, but I have no extra knowledge outside our books, I have not own personality to express myself, I can't frankly speak in English, I can't present my ideas properly & I can't adjust with everyone.

* So how can I establish my career???
* What is value of my certificate???
*What is the meaning of my education??

So, when we will fulfill above these, hope we will establish my career & we will be successful person.

Common Forum / Power of Concentration
« on: October 10, 2010, 12:22:38 AM »
A major cause of not concentrating is not being interested in the work. If we are studying something we really want to, our attention generally will remain keen. However, when we are reading something that we consider dull or boring, we will usually find it difficult. This is probably because we didn't prepare our-self  properly to work on the task. If our lack of concentration is due to being tired or not being motivated, we may have to postpone the work until a more suitable time. Certainly a wise use of available time to read and study is one of the best remedies.

Fear of failure is another reason for poor concentration. Often the thought of failing an exam or assignment starts to take more time than the actual study and this in turn adds to our worry.

Here is a list of suggestions which will help you improve your power of concentration:

1. Select a place you like to study and where there are few distractions

2. Plan your study time so that you will have enough time to finish your work.

3. Make sure that you have all the materials and resources you need to finish the assignment.

4. Develop a positive mental attitude to the task ahead. Think about finishing your work and try to do well.

5. Remember your purpose for studying and make this your goal. Question yourself about what you are studying and then read actively for the answers.

6. Work in short sessions of forty to fifty minutes and take regular breaks to avoid getting tired.

7. Make notes and summaries of the main points you are studying and refer to them to check your progress

8. Break your work into smaller units of study and mark each unit off as you complete it.

Journalism & Mass Communication / Stop Child Labour
« on: October 09, 2010, 11:44:00 PM »
Our country is so much beautiful. The people of our country are so simple & friendly. But it's very painful when we see that the poor children of our country are moving here & there. They haven't proper guidance, good advantages & environment, sufficient food & proper education. As a result, they are engaged with different types of dangerous work for living. Their parents don't want to send them to school.

Child Domestic service is a widespread practice in Bangladesh. The majority of child domestics tend to be 12 and 17 years old.But children as young as 5 or 6 years old can also be found working.A survey of child domestic workers found that 38 percent were 11 to 13 years old and nearly 24 percent were 5 to 10 years old.Child domestics works long hours, getting up well before their employers and going to bed long after them.on 50 percent domestic workers work 12- 14 hours a day.Irrespective of their gender,Child domestic carry out all sorts of household work.Boys often perform tasks like going to the grocery, cleaning the drain, talking the garbage to roadside bins, washing the car and sell nuts etc.On the other hand, girls have to iron the cloths, attend phone calls and serves the guests. The child domestic workers are often the least paid in the society, their remuneration ranging from 80 taka to 400 taka per month. In most of the cases, they hand over all their earnings to their parents, leaving nothing for themselves.

Debate Forum / How to make a debate automatically?
« on: October 09, 2010, 12:08:26 AM »
A debate does not mean that there should have a judge, particular 2 groups, some chairs & others. But a topic should have there. I think when we discuss different type of topics, there create a debate automatically. Some people tell "Yes" some people tell "No". There have no fixed rules. Sometimes we can get good knowledge through this debate.

Be Alert / Road Accident
« on: October 07, 2010, 11:55:21 PM »
Most of the time we can see many people cross the road without over bridge or zebra crossing. They think if they use over bridge or zebra crossing to cross the road, their time will waste. As a result they have accident. Everyday we listen through the news that, today 'X' number of people have died by road accident. It's so much painful.

There are some tips that will help us:

 1) Pay attention to the road. Avoid doing things in your car (i.e. talking on the cell phone, searching for a CD, looking for a radio station, eating, drinking, reading, getting into a deep discussion with a passenger, etc.) that will distract you from the road.

2) Follow at a safe distance from the vehicle in front of you (which includes merging onto the freeway). A good distance is at least 3 seconds. An also, avoid traveling side-by-side with another vehicle. This will give you a chance to stop or avoid a potential accident.

3) Give yourself plenty of time to reach your destination. Rushing will substantially increase your chance of being involved in an accident.

4) Avoid an aggressive driving behavior. Aggressive driving is the OPPOSITE of safe driving.

Parents Guidance / Parents & Teachers
« on: October 06, 2010, 10:12:55 AM »
                                                                                       For Parents

Parents are so best friends of child. If our parents take care their child properly & show friendly behavior with them, I think those child don't any unpleasant activities. When a children can share their any type of problems with their parents, then they will more successful in their practical life. Sometimes we can see that, parents & child both are not friendly & they have not sufficient time to give other. As a result, their child are going to engage many unpleasant activities. So, I think, parents should become more friendly with their child.

                                                                                                          For Teachers

Similarly, Teachers are also best friends of students. A teacher is a best guider for a student. Students should to respect their teachers & teachers should to affection their students. When a teacher become very friendly with their students, then students can easily solve their problems. A teacher can change the life of a student through their teaching method. So, mutual understanding so much necessary for both of them.

Environmental Science and Disaster Management / Power of science
« on: October 05, 2010, 11:17:21 PM »
Environmental science is interdisciplinary; it embraces a wide variety of topics from different areas of study. Yet there are several major unifying constructs, or themes, that cut across the many topics included in the study of environmental science.

The following themes provide a foundation for the structure of the AP Environmental Science course.

   1.  Science is a process.

          * Science is a method of learning more about the world.
          * Science constantly changes the way we understand the world.
   2. Energy conversions underlie all ecological processes.

          * Energy cannot be created; it must come from somewhere.
          * As energy flows through systems, at each step more of it becomes unusable.

   3. The Earth itself is one interconnected system.

          * Natural systems change over time and space.
          * Bio geochemical systems vary in ability to recover from disturbances.

   4. Humans alter natural systems.
          * Humans have had an impact on the environment for millions of years.
          * Technology and population growth have enabled humans to increase both the rate and scale of their impact on the environment.

   5. Environmental problems have a cultural and social context.
          * Understanding the role of cultural, social and economic factors is vital to the development of solutions.

   6. Human survival depends on developing practices that will achieve sustainable systems.
          * A suitable combination of conservation and development is required.
          * Management of common resources is essential.
