No body of us want to be old. Our age will increase with the change of calender, our experience will be increased but not ageing. But it is not possible for the presence of Free radicals.

Lets know, what is Free radicals?

The process in which oxygen combines with another material is called oxidation. For instance, unprotected iron will turn to rust when oxidized, fruits will turn brown, and butter will become rancid. A similar process occurs in the body causing it to degenerate and age, and as we get older more oxidation occurs in the body.

When our cells are exposed to free radicals, this process of oxidisation occurs. Therefore, our aging process depends on our ability to protect our cells from oxidation. However, this is no easy task; we are exposed to free radicals every day, introduced to the body from toxic chemicals that are either breathed in or absorbed through the skin.

The body’s oxidative reaction occurs due to the exposure to environmental toxins that are present in the air we breathe, the water we drink, the food we eat and the household products we use. And it is these ‘free radicals’ that contribute to the oxidative reactions in the body and cause tissues to damage and can also affect memory and mood, wrinkling of the skin, hardening of the arteries, stiffening joints — the list goes on.

Exposure to environmental toxins dramatically increases the level of free radicals in the body, sometimes beyond what our body can fight on its own. The human body is capable of handling and neutralising a certain amount, but when the system is overloaded the body’s normal ability to cope with them is compromised and become susceptible to premature aging and disease.
Free radicals can be found in the following:

    Junk food
Refined foods, such as sugar and white flour
Processed foods (canned, frozen and ready made meals)
    Colourings, preservatives and food additives
Chemotherapy or radiation exposure (X-rays, TV and computer monitors)
    Drugs and medications
    Coffee and tea
Hydrogenated and saturated fat (margarine and oils)
    Fizzy drinks
    Exposure to heat or cold
    Household chemicals
    Tap water
    Cigarette smoke and alcohol

So we have to do some things for these free radicals.............

Doing exercise for up to an hour a day can improve memory and learning in children and the elderly, say scientists.

The researchers found that walking or cycling regularly for between six months to a year can improve memory and problem solving skills in the elderly by between 15 and 20 per cent.

They have shown that such exercise can also increase the size of crucial parts of the brain.

The scientists have also discovered that children who are fit also tend to be better at multitasking and performing difficult mental tasks than unfit friends, the Telegraph reported.

Professor Art Kramer, director of the Beckman Institute for Advanced Science and Technology at the University of Illinois, who led the research, said their findings could have major implications for improving children's performance at school.

He said it could also be used to help the elderly combat memory loss in old age.

"It is a sad fact of ageing that our brain function decreases as we get older. Increasingly people are also living more sedentary lifestyles. While we know that exercise can have positive effects on cardiovascular disease and diabetes, we have found it can bring about improvements in cognition, brain function and brain structure," Kramer said.

"It is aerobic exercise that is important so by starting off doing just 15 minutes a day and working up to 45 minutes to an hour of continuous working we can see some real improvements in cognition after six months to a year.

"We have been able to do a lot of neuroimaging work alongside our studies in the elderly and show that brain networks and structures also change with exercise.

"Children also seem to benefit and we have found that aerobically fit children exhibit superior cognitive control to lower fit children," Kramer stated.

Work published earlier this year by his team showed that the hippocampus, the part of the brain involved in memory, of elderly people who exercised regularly for more than six months increased by two per cent, effectively reversing brain ageing by one to two years.

In the latest research, he also found that fitter children are better at crossing the street when distracted by music or holding a conversation on a hands-free mobile phone compared to those who were less fit.

He found that while the fit children could cross a road in a virtual reality simulation with ease when distracted, the less fit children tended walk at the same speed as the fitter children but misjudged the speed and distance of the computer generated vehicles.

"The low fitness kids were just as good at crossing the street when it was the only thing they were doing. If they were listening to music or talking on the headset, they performed badly. They often ended up with the screen going red to show they had been hit," Professor Kramer said.

"One way to look at it is that the high fit kids think more efficiently and so are better at multitasking," the researcher added.

The finding was presented at the American Association for the Advancement of Science annual meeting in Vancouver, and is due to be published later this year. (ANI)

Pharmacy / Just 3 mins of intense exercise can help burn fat
« on: February 27, 2012, 03:15:16 PM »
Those who feel lazy to go to gym or do not have time to exercise may be literally jumping once they read this news.

Scientists say we don't need to work for hours at the gym to cut flab, as just three minutes of exercise a week could be enough to help you lose weight.

The secret is short bursts of intense exercise - known as high-intensity interval training.

According Scientists at Birmingham and Nottingham universities, such a session once a week is far more effective at -burning fat than daily workouts, the Daily Express reported.

HIT triggers the release of fat-burning hormones helping to shift those unwanted love handles. It also moves glucose from the blood into muscle tissue where it is burned as energy rather than converted to fat.

And vigorous bursts of physical activity also have the effect of killing your appetite, whereas longer workouts can leave you wanting to eat more.

This means people keen to lose weight would be less likely to be tempted to snack on unhealthy treats if they ditched the gym and went for a short brisk walk.IT sessions can include running, riding a bike or walking.

"HIT is really good at improving glucose uptake into the muscles in a very, very short time," Professor James Timmons, leading the research at Birmingham, said.

"With really intense exercise, you release hormones that can help break down fat. This may help burn that fat over time, after HIT is done. Also, we think, but don't know, that HIT will subdue appetite, while traditional exercise will stimulate appetite. This last point is key and will be researched by our team," he stated. (ANI)

1. Take the medicine After or Before meal........ But it will be actually Take the medicine Empty or partially filled stomach.
2. If we miss one dose than we take double dose at a time. But some time it is very dangerous.
3. Take three daily or two daily......it will be take 8 hourly or 12 hourly.

Pharmacy / Frequent intake of antibiotics and drug resistance microbes.
« on: January 26, 2012, 03:58:52 PM »
We are the people of this subcontinent............ most of the time we have very low level of tolerance about any kind of disease.

This tolerance may be due to:
1. Lack of physical strength
2. Lack of Physical exercise
3. Sociology-economical intolerance.

We start taking medicine without doctors' advise or with wrong advise and most of the time these drugs are antibiotic.

Because most of the time we get quick relief by doing so. But if we not complete drug regiment (full course) spore (dormant condition of microbe) of the microbe remain untreated. This spore can remain in dormant condition in you but can spread to your near one.
It may be your child, parents or partner. Then your loving family member may be attack by that microbes which are resistance to the antibiotics which one have you taken. In this way it can create a microbial generation which is resistance to all drugs.

So there is a high chance that your dear one is attack by a common disease created by drug resistance microbes and causes an untreatable disease. So there is very small difference between malaria and cancer and you are responsible for making malarial fever like cancer.

So stop taking frequent antibiotics.
Be patience and complete full course of antibiotics.

There is a common joke :::::::******* if you take medicine for viral fever it will take 1 week to cure and it will be cure without medicine in 7 days.***********
