Common Forum / The World's Fastest Roller Coasters
« on: November 29, 2010, 03:06:44 PM »
Do you have a need for speed? Want to test your mettle against the world's speediest metal behemoths? The world's 10 fastest roller coasters are all made of steel (no wood coaster currently cracks the list), come in a variety of designs, and use an assortment of launch systems to catapult their rides into the record books. Hang on tight. Five of the fastest roller coasters reach or exceed 100 mph.

1: Formula Rossa- 149 mph
Formula Rossa accelerates from 0 to 100 km (62 miles) in 2 seconds, climb 52m (171 feet), and riders experience 1.7 Gs. Formula Rossa starts inside the indoor theme park, accelerates through the dome, travels outside the park, and returns to the loading station inside the building. The train's cars look like flashy red Formula One Ferraris.

Common Forum / 13 What is the root of these fears?
« on: November 23, 2010, 10:19:22 AM »
Imagine being issued boarding pass number 13 just before entering an airplane, or walking into a stadium and searching for your seat… seat number 13! How would you feel? Have you ever noticed how people become uneasy at the association of the number 13? What is the root of these fears?
The number 13 has been a mysterious obsession, to the point where many buildings do not have a 13th floor, and hotels often omit the room number 13. In the legal field, attorneys may consciously choose to sign documents on either the 12th of 14th of the month, avoiding the dreaded 13th. Gamblers may opt out on the 13th, and surgeons avoid scheduling important medical procedures on that day. Even in DIU we don’t use 13 as the subject code.
So it’s obvious that fears regarding the number 13 still exist, and therefore precautions must be taken, but from where did these fears originate?
There are many cultural legends that perpetuated the allure of the number 13. Some relate the fear of 13 to Norse mythology, where Loki, one of the more evil figures, became the 13th guest at a party and ended up causing the death of the god of light. In Rome, witches would gather in groups of 12 members, and the 13th guest was said to be a bringer of evil. On Friday, October 13, King Philip IV of France ordered the arrest of the Grand Master and Knights of the Knights Templar. In Christianity, there were 13 attendees at the last supper, and Friday was believed to be the day of Christ’s crucifixion.
In numerology, the number 12 is associated with fulfillment and completion. For example, there are 12 months in a year, 12 on a clock face, 12 items in a dozen, and 12 signs of the zodiac. The number 13 suffers much wrath simply because of its position following the number 12, leaving a feeling of uncertainty or imbalance.
In an attempt to remove much of the negative stigma, people are rediscovering the allure of the number 13. Modern paganism and Wicca have embraced the number 13, understanding that there are positive aspects of the number 13 that can balance the negative.
In numerology, 13 is reduced to the equation 1+3 = 4. Four is a number representing balance and totality. There are four elements, and four directions.
So what do you think?any idea?

A bird does not sing because it has an answer. It sings because it has a song.

A bit of fragrance clings to the hand that gives flowers.

A book holds a house of gold.

A book is like a garden carried in the pocket.

With money you can buy a clock but not the time

With money you can buy a bed but not the sleep

With money you can buy a book but not the knowledge

With money you can buy food but not the health

With money you can buy a position but not the respect

With money you can buy a house but not the home.

Birth:
Fatimah Zahra [a.s] the only daughter of the Holy Prophet Mohammed [PBUH] of Islam, was born in Mecca on 20th jumada th-thaniyah 18 B.H.
The good and noble lady Khadijah (a.s) and the Apostle Of Allah bestowed all their natural love, care and devotion on their lovable and only child Fatimah, who in her turn was extremely fond of her parents.

Character:
The Princess of the House of the Prophet, was very intelligent,
accomplished and cheerful. Her sermons, poems and sayings serve,
as an index to her strength of character and nobility of mind.
Her virtues gained her the title Our Lady of Light. She was tall,
slender and endowed with great beauty, which caused her to be called
az-Zahra (the Lady of Light). She was called az-Zahra
also because her light used to shine among those in heaven.

Marriage:
After arriving in Medina , she was married to Hazrat Ali (a.s),
in the first year after Hijrah,

She gave birth to three sons and two daughters. Her children, Hasan, Husayn, Zaynab and Umm Kulthum are well-known for their piety, goodness and generosity. Their strength of character and actions changed the course of history.
The Holy Prophet [PBUH] said, Fatimah AS is a piece of my heart.
He would go out to receive his daughter whenever she came from
her husbands house. Every morning on his way to the Mosque,
he would pass by Fatimahs house and say, as-Salamu alaykum ya ahli
bayti n-nubuwwah wa madani r-risalah (peace be on you O the
Household of Prophethood and the Source of Messengership).

The Best Woman:
Fatimah is famous and acknowledged as the Sayyidatu nisai l-alamin
(Leader of all the women of the world for all times) because
the Prophethood of Muhammad would not have been everlasting
without her. The Prophet is the perfect example for men,
although Fatima (a.s) compliments his teachings toward and for women . For all the verses revealed in
the Holy Quran for women, Fatimah is the perfect model, who
translated every verse into action. In her lifetime, she was a
complete woman, being Daughter, Wife and Mother at the same time.
As a daughter, she loved her parents so much, that she won their
love and regard to such an extent that the Holy Prophet used to rise,
whenever she came near him. As a wife, she was very devoted.
she never asked Hazrat Ali (A.S) for anything in her whole life.
As a mother, she cared for and brought up wonderful children;
they have left their marks on the face of the world, which
time will not be able to erase.

« on: September 15, 2010, 10:17:21 PM »
No breakfast

People who do not take breakfast are going to have a
lower blood sugar level. This leads to an insufficient
supply of nutrients to the brain causing brain
degeneration.

Overeating
It causes hardening of the brain arteries, leading to
a decrease in mental power.

Smoking
It causes multiple brain shrinkage and may lead to
Alzheimer disease.

High Sugar Consumption
Too much sugar will interrupt the absorption of
proteins and nutrients causing malnutrition and may
interfere with brain development.

Air Pollution
The brain is the largest oxygen consumer in our body.
Inhaling polluted air decreases the sup ply of oxygen
to the brain, bringing about a decrease in brain
efficiency.

Sleep Deprivation
Sleep allows our brain to rest. Long term deprivation
from sleep will accelerate the death of brain cells.

Head covered while Sleeping

Common Forum / Program change procedure
« on: September 04, 2010, 07:30:19 PM »
Being a student of a university  its a turning point to set ur mind goal career so at first decide in which track u wanna build ur career then select the dpt. at the time of admission.U better understand in which way u can do best use of ur inner talent. sometimes we see some students select their dpt traditionally but who knows s/he might do far better in some other program in which they will get really interesting. Here we offer such courses each of which has its own career sector where students can make a really good future. Some newly admitted students are found indecisive to select their program and initially they get admission in one subject and after a while they wanna change the dpt. DIU is always facilitates students demand and here we are flexible for them and permit them to change their dpt at least after completion of one semester cause at initial stage dpt offer more or less same courses. Here is the procedure of Program change I think this will help you to get acknowledged.
After final exam result publication and before Registration in new semester is the perfect time for Dpt change.A rough transcript is mandatory to submit during this process (procedure will be described later)
1.Collect the program change Form from Dpt or Admission Office
2.Fill the students part.
3.Collect the signature of present program's Head and Future program's Head
4.Pay the program change fee (2500 tk ) to the accounts and get the signature of the accounts dpt.If you dont have any previous dues and paid the program change fee then they will sign on it.
5.By this time collect a rough trascript from exam section. Then submit the form along with 2500 tk money receipt and rough transcript to Dean Office. If you wanna change ur faculty in that case you need to submit it to both Dean Offices of two Faculties. In case of FBE its not Dean Its Advisor. But for FSIT and FHSS its Dean.
6.Then after 2/3 days collect your new ID no of new dpt from admission office and do your registration in this new ID number after clearing Registration fees for new dpt.
7.Finally you have to apply for a new ID card to the counseling office and you need to submit the previous one while collecting the new one.

How to get a rough transcript
1.Write an application to the Controller of Examination
2.Pay taka 50 to the accounts and get signed from there that you dont have any dues.
3.Submit the application to the Controller of Examination along with the money receipt to get the signature of Controller sir.
4.After signing submit it to the Exam Section (in b2in Main campus and Library you will find a stairs second floor of that building). They will declare an issue date to collect a rough transcript.
