Narrated 'Abdullah bin 'Abbas:

Once solar eclipse occurred during the lifetime of Allah's Apostle. He offered the eclipse prayer. His companions asked, "O Allah's Apostle! We saw you trying to take something while standing at your place and then we saw you retreating." The Prophet said, "I was shown Paradise and wanted to have a bunch of fruit from it. Had I taken it, you would have eaten from it as long as the world remains."

আবদুল্লাহ্ ইবন আব্বাস (রা.) থেকে বর্ণিত, তিনি বলেন, নবী (সাঃ)-এর যুগে একবার সূর্যগ্রহণ হয়েছিল। তখন তিনি এজন্য সালাত আদায় করেন। সাহাবা-ই-কিরাম (রা.) জিজ্ঞাসা করলেন, ইয়া রাসূলাল্লাহ! সালাতে দাঁড়ানো অবস্থায় আপনাকে দেখলাম যেন কিছু একটা ধরতে যাচ্ছিলেন, কিন্তু পরে দেখলাম, আবার পিছিয়ে এলেন। তিনি বললেন, আমাকে জান্নাত দেখানো হয় এবং তারই একটি আঙ্গুরের ছড়া নিতে যাচ্ছিলাম। আমি যদি তা নিয়ে আসতাম, তা হলে দুনিয়ার স্থায়িত্বকাল পর্যন্ত তোমরা তা থেকে খেতে পারতে।

Narrated Asma' bint Abi Bakr:

The Prophet once offered the eclipse prayer. He stood for a long time and then did a prolonged bowing. He stood up straight again and kept on standing for a long time, then bowed a long bowing and then stood up straight and then prostrated a prolonged prostration and then lifted his head and prostrated a prolonged prostration. And then he stood up for a long time and then did a prolonged bowing and then stood up straight again and kept on standing for a long time. Then he bowed a long bowing and then stood up straight and then prostrated a prolonged prostration and then lifted his head and went for a prolonged prostration. On completion o the prayer, he said, "Paradise became s near to me that if I had dared, I would have plucked one of its bunches for you and Hell became so near to me that said, 'O my Lord will I be among those people?' Then suddenly I saw a woman and a cat was lacerating her with it claws. On inquiring, it was said that the woman had imprisoned the cat till it died of starvation and she neither fed it no freed it so that it could feed itself."

আসমা বিনত্ আবূ বকর (রা.) থেকে বর্ণিত যে, নবী (সাঃ) একবার সালাতুল কুসূফ (সূর্য গ্রহণের সালাত) আদায় করলেন। তিনি সালাতে দীর্ঘক্ষণ দাঁড়িয়ে থাকলেন। তারপর রুকূ’তে গেলেন এবং দীর্ঘক্ষণ থাকলেন। তারপর দাঁড়ালেন এবং দীর্ঘক্ষণ দাঁড়িয়ে থাকলেন। তারপর আবার রুকূ’তে গেলেন এবং দীর্ঘক্ষণ রুকূ’তে থাকলেন। এরপর উঠলেন, পরে সিজদায় গেলেন এবং দীর্ঘক্ষণ সিজদায় থাকলেন। এরপর আবার দাঁড়ালেন এবং দীর্ঘক্ষণ দাঁড়িয়ে থাকলেন। আবার রুকূ’তে গেলেন এবং দীর্ঘক্ষণ রুকূ’তে দীর্ঘক্ষণ রুকূ’তে থাকলেন। এরপর রুকূ’ থেকে উঠে সিজদায় গেলেন এবং দীর্ঘক্ষণ সিজদায় থাকলেন। তারপর উঠে সিজদায় গেলেন এবং দীর্ঘক্ষণ সিজদায় থাকলেন। এরপর সালাত শেষ করে ফিরে দাঁড়িয়ে বললেনঃ জান্নাত আমার খুবেই নিকটে এসে গিয়েছিল এমনকি আমি যদি চেষ্টা করতাম তা হলে জান্নাতের একগুচ্ছ আঙ্গুর তোমাদের এনে দিতে পারতাম। আর জাহান্নামও আমার একেবারে নিকটবর্তী হয়ে গিয়েছিল। এমনকি আমি বলে উঠলাম, ইয়া রব! আমিও কি তাদের সাথে? আমি একজন স্ত্রী লোককে দেখতে পেলাম। আবূ হুরায়রা (রা.) বলেন, আমার মনে হয়, তিনি বলেছিলেন, একটি বিড়াল তাকে খামচাচ্ছে। আমি জিজ্ঞাসা করলাম, এ স্ত্রী লোকটির এমন অবস্থা কেন? ফিরিশতাগণ জবাব দিলেন, সে একটি বিড়ালকে আটকিয়ে রেখেছিল, ফলে বিড়ালটি অনাহারে মারা যায়। উক্ত স্ত্রী লোকটি তাকে খেতেও দেয়নি এবং ছেড়েও দেয়নি, যাতে সে আহার করতে পারে।

Narrated Abu Huraira:

Allah's Apostle used to keep silent between the Takbir and the recitation of Qur'an and that interval of silence used to be a short one. I said to the Prophet "May my parents be sacrificed for you! What do you say in the pause between Takbir and recitation?" The Prophet said, "I say, 'Allahumma, ba'id baini wa baina khatayaya kama ba'adta baina-l-mashriqi wa-l-maghrib. Allahumma, naqqim min khatayaya kama yunaqqa-ththawbu-l-abyadu mina-ddanas. Allahumma, ighsil khatayaya bil-ma'i wa-th-thalji wal-barad (O Allah! Set me apart from my sins (faults) as the East and West are set apart from each other and clean me from sins as a white garment is cleaned of dirt (after thorough washing). O Allah! Wash off my sins with water, snow and hail.)"

আবূ হুরায়রা (রা.) থেকে বর্ণিত, তিনি বলেন, রাসূলুল্লাহ (সাঃ) তাকবীরে ও কিরাআতের মধ্যে কিছুক্ষণ চুপ করে থাকতেন। আমি বললাম, ইয়া রাসূলুল্লাহ্! আমার মাতাপিতা আপনার উপর কুরবান হোক, তাকবীর ও কিরাআত এর মধ্যে চুপ থাকার সময় আপনি কী পাঠ করে থাকেন? তিনি বললেনঃ এ সময় আমি বলি – ইয়া আল্লাহ্! আপনি মাশরিক ও মাগরিবের মধ্যে যেরূপ দুরত্ব সৃষ্টি করেছেন, আমার ও আমার ত্রুটি-বিচ্যুতির মধ্যে ঠিক তদ্রুপ দূরত্ব সৃষ্টি করে দিন। ইয়া আল্লাহ! শুভ্র বস্ত্রকে যেরূপ নিমল করা হয় আমাকেও সেরূপ পাক-সাফ করুন। আমার অপরাধসমূহ পানি, বরফ ও হিমশিলা দ্বারা বিধৌত করে দিন।

Narrated Zaid bin Thabit:

Allah's Messenger (sallallahu 'alaihi wa sallam) made a small room in the month of Ramadan (Sa`id said, "I think that Zaid bin Thabit said that it was made of a mat") and he prayed there for a few nights, and so some of his companions prayed behind him. When he came to know about it, he kept on sitting. In the morning, he went out to them and said, "I have seen and understood what you did. You should pray in your houses, for the best prayer of a person is that which he prays in his house except the compulsory prayers."

যায়িদ ইবন সাবিত (রাঃ) থেকে বর্ণিত যে,  রাসূলুল্লাহ (সাল্লাল্লাহু আলাইহি ওয়াসাল্লাম)  রমযান মাসে একটি ছোট কামরা বানালেন। তিনি (বুসর ইবন সায়ীদ (রা.) বলেন, মনে হয়, (যায়িদ ইবন সাবিত (রাঃ) কাম্রাটি চাটাইর তৈরী ছিল বলে উল্লেখ করেছিলেন। তিনি সেখানে কয়েক রাত সালাত আদায় করেন। আর তাঁর সাহাবীগনের মধ্যে কিছু সাহাবীও তাঁর সঙ্গে সালাত আদায় করতেন। তিনি যখন তাঁদের সম্বন্ধে জানতে পারলেন, তখন তিনি বসে থাকলেন। পড়ে তিনি তাঁদের কাছে এসে বললেন, তোমাদের কার্যকলাপ দেখে আমি বুঝতে পেরেছি। হে লোকেরা! তোমরা তোমাদের ঘরেই সালাত আদায় কর। কেননা, ফজর সালাত ব্যতীত লোকেরা ঘরে যে সালাত আদায় করে তা-ই উত্তম।

Narrated `Aisha:

Allah's Messenger (sallallahu 'alaihi wa sallam) used to pray in his room at night. As the wall of the room was LOW, the people saw him and some of them stood up to follow him in the prayer. In the morning they spread the news. The following night the Prophet (sallallahu 'alaihi wa sallam) stood for the prayer and the people followed him. This went on for two or three nights. Thereupon Allah's Messenger (sallallahu 'alaihi wa sallam) did not stand for the prayer the following night, and did not come out. In the morning, the people asked him about it. He replied, that he way afraid that the night prayer might become compulsory.

আয়িশা (রাঃ) থেকে বর্ণিত, তিনি বলেন, রাসূলুল্লাহ (সাল্লাল্লাহু আলাইহি ওয়াসাল্লাম) রাতের সালাত তাঁর নিজ কামরায় আদায় করতেন। কামরার দেয়ালটি ছিল নিচু। ফলে একদিন সাহাবীগণ নবী (করীম সাল্লাল্লাহু আলাইহি ওয়াসাল্লাম) এর শরীর মুবারক দেখতে পেলেন এবং (দেয়ালের অপর পার্শ্বে) সাহাবীগণ দাঁড়িয়ে দাঁড়িয়ে তাঁর সহিত সালাত আদায় করলেন। সকালে তারা একথা বলাবলি করছিলেন। দ্বিতীয় রাতে তিনি (সালাতে) দাঁড়ালেন। সাহাবীগণ দাঁড়িয়ে তাঁর সাথে সালাত আদায় করলেন। দু’ বা তিন রাত তারা এরূপ করলেন। এরপর (রাতে) রাসূলুল্লাহ (সাল্লাল্লাহু আলাইহি ওয়াসাল্লাম) বসে থাকলেন, আর বের হলেন না। ভোরে সাহাবীগণ এ বিষয়ে আলোচনা করলেন। তখন তিনি বললেনঃ আমার আশঙ্কা হচ্ছিল যে, রাতের সালাত তোমাদের উপর ফরয করে দেয়া হতে পারে।

Narrated Abu Huraira:

The Prophet (sallallahu 'alaihi wa sallam) said, "The Imam is (appointed) to be followed. So do not differ from him, bow when he bows, and say, "Rabbana-lakal hamd" if he says "Sami`a l-lahu liman hamidah"; and if he prostrates, prostrate (after him), and if he prays sitting, pray sitting all together, and straighten the rows for the prayer, as the straightening of the rows is among those things which make your prayer a correct and perfect one.

আবু হুরায়রা (রাঃ) থেকে বর্ণিত যে, নবী (করীম সাল্লাল্লাহু আলাইহি ওয়াসাল্লাম) বলেনঃ অনুসরণ করার জন্যই ইমাম নির্ধারণ করা হয়। কাজেই তাঁর বিরুদ্ধাচরণ করবে না। তিনি যখন রুকু করেন তোমরাও রুকু করবে। তিনি যখন ‘সামিয়াল্লাহু লিমান হামিদাহ’ বলেন তখন তোমরা রাব্বানা লাকাল হামদ’ বলবে। তিনি যখন সিজদা করবেন তোমরাও তখন সিজদা করবে। তিনি যখন বসে সালাত আদায় করেন, তখন তোমরাও সবাই বসে সালাত আদায় করবে। আর তোমরা সালাতে কাতার সোজা করে নিবে, কেননা কাতার সোজা করা সালাতের সৌন্দর্যের অন্তর্ভুক্ত।

Narrated Abu Huraira:

The Prophet (sallallahu 'alaihi wa sallam) said, "Martyrs are those who die because of drowning, plague, an Abdominal disease, or of being buried alive by a falling building." And then he added, "If the people knew the Reward for the Zuhr prayer in its early time, they would race for it. If they knew the reward for the `Isha' and the Fajr prayers in congregation, they would join them even if they had to crawl. If they knew the reward for the first row, they would draw lots for it."

আবু হুরায়রা (রাঃ) থেকে বর্ণিত, তিনি বলেন, নবী (করীম সাল্লাল্লাহু আলাইহি ওয়াসাল্লাম) বলেছেনঃ পানিতে ডুবে, কলেরায়, প্লেগে এবং ভুমিধসে বা চাপা পড়ে মৃত ব্যক্তিরা শহীদ। যদি লোকেরা জানত যে, প্রথম ওয়াক্তে সালাত আদায়ে কি ফযিলত, তা হলে তারা এর জন্য প্রতিযোগিতা করে আগেভাগে আসার চেষ্টা করত। আর ইশা ও ফজরের জামা’আতের কি মর্তবা তা যদি তারা জানত তাহলে হামাগুঁড়ি দিয়ে হলেও তাতে উপস্থিত হত এবং সামনের কাতারের কী ফযিলত তা যদি জানত, তাহলে এর জন্য তারা কুরআ ব্যবহার করত।

Narrated An-Nu`man bin 'Bashir:

The Prophet (sallallahu 'alaihi wa sallam) said, "Straighten your rows or Allah will alter your faces."

নু’মান ইবন বশীর (রাঃ) থেকে বর্ণিত, তিনি বলেন, নবী (করীম সাল্লাল্লাহু আলাইহি ওয়াসাল্লাম) বলেছেনঃ তোমরা অবশ্যই কাতার সোজা করে নিবে, তা না হলে আল্লাহ্তা’লা তোমাদের মাঝে বিরোধ সৃষ্টি করে দেবেন।

Narrated `Abdullah bin 'Abi Qatada:

My fathe said, "The Prophet (sallallahu 'alaihi wa sallam) said, 'When I stand for prayer, I intend to prolong it but on hearing the cries of a child, I cut it short, as I dislike to trouble the child's mother.' "

আবু কাতাদা (রাঃ) থেকে বর্ণিত, নবী (করীম সাল্লাল্লাহু আলাইহি ওয়াসাল্লাম) বলেন, আমি অনেক সময় দীর্ঘ করে সালাত আদায়ের ইচ্ছা নিয়ে দাঁড়াই। পরে শিশুর কান্নাকাটি শুনে সালাত সংক্ষেপ করি। কারন আমি পছন্দ করি না যে, শিশুর মাকে কষ্টে ফেলি।

Narrated Anas:

The Prophet (sallallahu 'alaihi wa sallam) used to pray a short prayer (in congregation) but used to offer it in a perfect manner.

আনাস ইবন মালিক (রাঃ) থেকে বর্ণিত, তিনি বলেন, নবী (করীম সাল্লাল্লাহু আলাইহি ওয়াসাল্লাম) সালাত সংক্ষেপে এবং পুর্ণভাবে আদায় করতেন।

Narrated Abu Mas`ud:

A man came and said, "O Allah's Messenger (sallallahu 'alaihi wa sallam)! By Allah, I keep away from the morning prayer only because So and so prolongs the prayer when he leads us in it." The narrator said, "I never saw Allah's Apostle more furious in giving advice than he was at that time. He then said, "Some of you make people dislike good deeds (the prayer). So whoever among you leads the people in prayer should shorten it because among them are the weak, the old and the needy."

আবু মাসউদ(রাঃ) থেকে বর্ণিত, তিনি বলেন, এক সাহাবী এসে বললেন ইয়া রাসূলুল্লাহ! আল্লাহ্র শপথ! আমি অমুকের কারণে ফজরের সালাতে অনুপস্থিত থাকি। তিনি জামা’আতে সালাতকে খুব দীর্ঘ করেন। আবু মাসউদ (রাঃ) বলেন, আমি রাসূলুল্লাহ (সাল্লাল্লাহু আলাইহি ওয়াসাল্লাম) কে নসীহত করতে গিয়ে সেদিনের ন্যায় এত বেশি রাগান্বিত আর কোন দিন দেখিনি। তিনি বলেন, তোমাদের মাঝে বিতৃষ্ণা সৃষ্টিকারী রয়েছে।  তোমাদের মধ্যে যে কেউ অন্য লোক নিয়ে সালাত আদায় করে, সে যেন সংক্ষেপ করে। কেননা, তাঁদের মধ্যে দুর্বল, বৃদ্ধ ও হাজতমন্দ লোকও থাকে।

Narrated Abu Huraira:

Allah's Messenger (sallallahu 'alaihi wa sallam) said, "If the Imam leads the prayer correctly then he and you will receive the rewards but if he makes a mistake (in the prayer) then you will receive the reward for the prayer and the sin will be his."

আবু হুরায়রা (রাঃ) থেকে বর্ণিত যে, রাসূলুল্লাহ (সাল্লাল্লাহু আলাইহি ওয়াসাল্লাম) বলেছেনঃ  তারা তোমাদের ইমামতি করে। যদি তারা সঠিকভাবে আদায় করে তা হলে তার সাওয়াব তোমরা পাবে। আর যদি তারা ত্রুটি করে, তাহলে তোমাদের জন্য সাওয়াব রয়েছে, আর ত্রুটি তাদের (ইমামের) উপরই বর্তাবে।

Narrated Abu Huraira:

The Prophet (sallallahu 'alaihi wa sallam) said, "Isn't he who raises his head before the Imam afraid that Allah may transform his head into that of a donkey or his figure (face) into that of a donkey?"

আবু হুরায়রা (রাঃ) থেকে বর্ণিত, নবী (করীম সাল্লাল্লাহু আলাইহি ওয়াসাল্লাম) বলেন, তোমাদের কেউ যখন ইমামের আগে মাথা উঠিয়ে ফেলে, তহন সে কি ভয় করে না যে, আল্লাহ্তা’লা তাঁর মাথা গাধার মাথায় পরিণত করে দিবেন, তাঁর আকৃতি গাধার আকৃতি করে দেবেন।

Narrated Al-Aswad:

That he asked `Aisha "What did the Prophet (sallallahu 'alaihi wa sallam) use to do in his house?" She replied, "He used to keep himself busy serving his family and when it was the time for prayer he would go for it."

আসওয়াদ (রাঃ) থেকে বর্ণিত, তিনি বলেন, আমি আয়েশা (রাঃ) কে জিজ্ঞাসা করলাম, নবী (করীম সাল্লাল্লাহু আলাইহি ওয়াসাল্লাম) ঘরে থাকা অবস্থায় কি করতেন? তিনি বললেন, ঘরের কাজ-কর্মে ব্যস্ত থাকতেন। অর্থাৎ পরিজনের সহায়তা করতেন। আর সালাতের সময় সালাতে চলে যেতেন।

Narrated Anas bin Malik:

Allah's Messenger (sallallahu 'alaihi wa sallam) said, "If the supper is served start having it before praying the Maghrib prayer and do not be hasty in finishing it."

আনাস ইবন মালিক (রাঃ) থেকে বর্ণিত, রাসূলুল্লাহ (সাল্লাল্লাহু আলাইহি ওয়াসাল্লাম) বলেছেনঃ বিকেলের খাবার পরিবেশন করা হলে মাগরিবের সালাতের আগে তা খেয়ে নিবে। খাওয়া রেখে সালাতে তাড়াহুড়া করবে না।
