An important and growing part of the textile industry is the medical and related health care and hygiene sectors. Textile materials have wide range properties such as flexibility, elasticity, strength etc.

Textiles used for medical purposes should be non-allergic, non-carcinogenic, non-toxic, and antistatic in nature, optimum fatigue endurance, bio-compatibility, flame proof, dyes must be non irritant.

The extent of the growth is due to the constant improvements and innovations in both textile technology and medical procedures.
Like

. Non-implantable materials: Wound dressing, bandages, plasters etc.

. Extracorporeal devices: Artificial kidney, liver and lungs.

. Implantable materials: Sutures, vascular grafts, artificial joints etc.

. Healthcare/hygiene products: Bedding, clothing, surgical gowns cloths, wipes

They have an ever increasing demand worlwide & much can be done regarding research of these specialized textile materials.

after reading this, i think most of you now realize how extensively we are using this category textiles in our day to day life.

similarly, as much as you know about technical textiles, you will realize all around are technical textiles;some are visible but not come into mind; some as partially visible, means you never think that this is technical textiles and some are totally invisible as it is never seen you as any part of textiles.

believe me or not, the slipper you put on, the shoes you uses, the waist belt you wrap around, the artificial ornaments of leather or ceramic, polymer, and composite all are technical textiles.

the floor you walk on, the bed you sleep, the interior of your house or car are all technical textiles.

you are again requested to join lecture class that conducted by me in the evening. then you know why these are technical textiles? and more!

We can learn a lot from the conversation in different topics. This is one of them. I already have a curiosity on medical textile and this topic provoked my thrust on medical textile again.
