BBA Discussion Forum / Gratitude to teachers & CDC
« on: December 22, 2012, 07:01:05 PM »
The name i must respect & recall all the time "Sabrina Mem (Faculty of Business & Economics)", who furnished me the opportunity of Internship in IDLC Finance Limited through CDC. This may look a small opportunity to all, but in my case, it brought a new beginning in my life. Me & another DIU student "Abu Yousuf" got internship opportunity in IDLC after facing Two interviews (Viva & Computer test). after four months intern period they liked our performance & asked to join IDLC & we did the same. Now IDLC believes, yes, DIU students are also competent. In this effect, they have recruited two more interns from DIU in this semester & it will be continued.

My intention of sharing this story carries a big desire. we, DIU students just need some opportunity to prove ourself. If our respectable teachers use their personal relations to bring some opportunity for their beloved students, I am sure, the day is knocking the door, when companies will come to DIU with their Job offering.

The conversation was starting like that “If you use mobile phone while driving car, what will be the amount of fine? We said tk. 100. She again said, if anyone dies in an accident with your car while you are driving car and at the same time you are using mobile phone. Should it fine tk.100? Can you compensate for the life? We said, obviously, not. Then she replied, yes this is part of humanity, ability to learn, spontaneous learning”

Yes, we had an experiential co-operative class with “Begum Rokeya Prachi” last Friday, where we learned from each other. The class specially was about “Advertising” which is regularly conducted by Syed Mizanur Rahman. He arranged this class to get us learned and concerned about How advertising agency works, How creative persons work, How media planners plan their media and so on.

The discussion among us and Begum Rokeya prachi was like get to real life. The class was fully co-operative where we were free to ask any questions and build relationships. In that particular discussion we were apart from our syllabus. She disclosed how they actually works and what kind of constraints the face.

Some words she told while ending the discussion which is very much influential is “Do something good, yes, you will get many obstacles but you just continue that. It will make you honorable and happy”.

Finally, I would like to say thanks to our Raju sir for arranging such kind of co-operative class, where we could learn about practical life.

BBA Discussion Forum / A success to infinity....
« on: February 13, 2011, 11:45:27 PM »
We, the students of DIU just observed a Historical moment as well as the foundation stone laying ceremony on 10th February 2011. This day is just apart from the other history of our university because on this day, DIU has created a new wonder & our dream for a digital permanent campus has come to reality. This is the evidence we are always best.

Professor Najrul Islam, Chairman, University grand commission (UGC) said that “seven private universities is following the government rule which is set recently and Daffodil International University is one of them”. So it is unquestionably great achievement for DIU as well as for us.

I am very happy and proud for being a student of DIU and I think all of the students are same to me. This is nice to share that our university is taking some initiatives to make competent the students for real life and unquestionably, it will help our university to become in number one position…

Group work a form of cooperative learning. It aims to cater for individual differences, develop students' knowledge, generic skills (e.g. communication skills, collaborative skills, critical thinking skills) and attitudes.

Each semester we are assigned to prepare reports, assignments, presentation topic and so on. Most of those tasks are assigned to perform group wise and every group consists 3-5 members. To prepare a knowledgeable assignment it requires active participation of all the group members. It is usual, that all the members will contribute actively.

But what is happening in Practical? One or at best two members are working for the whole assignment rest of them are sleeping. One, who is doing the whole assignment, learning lots of things and on the same time the whole pressure, goes to him. On the other hand, who, do not participate actively, are getting failure and looser. They completing their degree without knowing about group work, practical work, procedures of formal report writings and so on. As a result, the are getting failure in job market.

I want to share my practical example, from 1st semester to 6th semester, I had to prepare 24 assignments and approximately 18-20 was group assignment. I have 4 friends who are common in my group. In this semester, I have prepared two formal reports for principle of Banking and Principle of Insurance without the participation of my group members. We got the highest mark and as a consequence they got the full mark. But they still don’t know How to write a formal report??

I would like to draw our respectable teacher’s attention to think about it. I think this really important for the development of students.

Bangladesh is most densely populated country with a partial resource. There are about 150 millions of people and 49 percent of them live under poverty line. Unquestionably, unemployment is a Big Macroeconomic Issaue of Bangladesh.

Unemployment occurs when a person is able and willing to work but currently without work. The prevalence of unemployment is usually measured using the unemployment rate, which is defined as the percentage of those in the labor force who are unemployed.

Unemployment situation in Bangladesh:

According to a study of the International Labor Organization (ILO), the rate of growth of unemployment in Bangladesh was 1.9 per cent in the decade of the nineties. But the growth in unemployment currently is 3.7 per cent. The ILO figures also show Bangladesh in the twelfth position among the top twenty countries in the world where unemployment is rising.

The number of the unemployed in Bangladesh now is estimated at 30 million. The way the rate of unemployment is increasing, it is feared that at this rate unemployment would soar to some 60 million by 2015. According to another estimate, every year some 2.7 million young persons are becoming eligible for jobs whereas only about 0.7 million of them are getting employment.

some recommendations to reduce Unemployment:

1.Create a National Office of Employment to develop long term strategies and oversight of the Bangladesh labor market in order to track trends, analyze data, research emerging problems, and prepare early interventions.

2.Identify growing and potential industries and the skills they will need in future staff.

3.Design a plan which allows for the rapid retargeting of training courses as Community Colleges and vocational schools are traditionally 5 to 15 years behind current needs.

4.Renovate the processes of State Unemployment Offices by implementing coordinated support programs in which workers participate as part of receiving unemployment benefits and employers participate as a means of meeting their future needs for staff.

5.Provide incentives for employers to hire more part-time workers

can you give more efficient ideas to reduce Unemployment problem? If there is any ideas please please share...
