Common Forum / 10 Great Mountain Towns
« on: November 01, 2011, 03:00:38 PM »
From the Alps to Alaska, here are 10 mountain towns that shamelessly seduce with good looks, affordable deals, and year-round appeal. Read on for ways to see some of the best views and hit the town without ever strapping on a pair of skis or pedaling a mountain bike.

Lucerne, Switzerland

This picturesque Swiss Alps city is like a model-train set come to life. Medieval-style homes and shops with flower boxes line cobblestoned streets. The wooden 14th-century Chapel Bridge (Kapllbrücke) spans the Reuss River flowing through the town's crystal-clear Lake Lucerne. And in the backdrop, little red cog railway cars climb the steep Mt. Pilatus.

Riobamba, Ecuador

Like many cities in the Pacific Ring of Fire, Riobamba lives in the shadow of a sleeping giant. Clouds wisp at the tip of the inactive Chimborazo volcano, Ecuador's highest point, while native llama, alpaca, and vicuña graze in the protected habitat below. You'll see why some call Riobamba the Sultan of the Andes when you explore the colonial city center's cathedrals and museums.

Girdwood, Alaska

Next to the state's largest ski resort, just outside Anchorage, Girdwood was originally called "Glacier City" for the colossal icy peaks that surround it. Calving glaciers thunder into the Prince William Sound, and humpback whales play in nearby Kenai Fjords National Park. Set amid this idyllic valley's rugged beauty is one of Alaska's most productive and still active placer gold mines, Crow Creek Mine, where you can pan for gold.

Bled, Slovenia

Bled is by far the country's most popular destination, thanks to its placid fairytale lake and island, dramatically sited castle and snow-tipped mountains. The town itself, which is most densely concentrated to the east of the lake, is thoroughly unspectacular, and there's nothing specific to see. In contrast, the lake is a natural playground, deluged with skaters during the winter and bristling with row-boats, gondolas and swimmers during the spring and summer months.

Whistler, British Columbia, Canada

Coverage of the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympic Games introduced the world to this ski town's stunning beauty and cosmopolitan allure. At the base of Whistler and Blackcomb mountains, icy blue streams gurgle through the pedestrian village. Boutique shops, lively pubs, and restaurant

Stowe, Vermont

Stowe is the quintessential New England village. In a fertile valley between the Green Mountains' peaks, this quaint town of 4,500 is a throwback to all things wholesome. The historical Main Street area is home to a general store, a malt shop, and even a mercantile with fresh handmade fudge. Head to the surrounding countryside for a grazing tour of Vermont's farm treats.

Wanaka, South Island, New Zealand

This South Island lake town, away from the crowds of its popular Queenstown neighbor, sits in a glacier-carved basin near the edge of Mt. Aspiring National Park's Southern Alps. Mountains rise out of Lake Wanaka, vineyards drape the hillsides, and tiny islands harbor uninhabited sanctuaries for the flightless buff weka bird. It's no wonder the laid-back Kiwi vibe has such a stronghold here.

Taos, New Mexico

This Southwestern town, in a high desert valley, is a study in contrasts. Rich blue skies meet an arid countryside dotted with adobe dwellings and the Taos Pueblo village. The Sangre de Cristo Range towers majestically above the desert floor. And the Rio Grande's whitewater cuts a deep gorge in red sandstone below. Is it any wonder Georgia O'Keeffe, D.H. Lawrence, and countless others have been inspired here?

Gyalthang (Jiantang Town), Yunnan Province, China

Set among Himalayan snowcaps, this ancient rural town near the Tibetan border is a hidden highland utopia. Here in Gyalthang (Jiantang Town), renamed after the fictional land of Shangri-La in 2001, locals live simple, long lives far from the influence of the outside world. Shaggy yaks drag plows through rich soil, and the sound of chanting floats out of Tibetan monasteries. Just outside town, pastures open up to alpine lakes, gorges, and swift rivers fed by mountain snow.

Breckenridge, Colorado

Gold seekers founded this Victorian mining town in 1859, and many of the original buildings that housed hotels, dance halls, and saloons still stand. The new occupants—quirky boutiques, restaurants, outfitters, and microbreweries—capture Breckenridge's pioneering spirit and down-to-earth character. It's an unpretentious Rocky Mountain high 90 miles west of Denver.

Nutrition and Food Engineering / Some poisonous Mushroom
« on: October 26, 2011, 03:13:53 PM »
I personally like mushroom to have in soup and I think most of the people do the same but there are some mushrooms which are extremely poisonous. In Amazon there is a yellow mushroom which is so poisonous that one can die just after touching it with naked hand. The poison is directly inserted inside the body by melting the protein of skin. Here some pictures of like those.

This is a species of Hypomyces—possibly H. hyalinus. This species is a parasitic “mold” which attacks A. rubescens, which is poisonous. This species of “Lobster” mushroom may be poisonous due to its host. Other Lobster mushrooms are red, feeding on Lactarious or Russsulas, and are commonly eaten and  are sold in grocery stores.

Deadly poisonous!

Deadly poisonous! Beauty is deceiving. The beautiful skirt like ring is not always this well defined. Even worms and bugs keep their distance from this angel-of-death.

Common Forum / Water conservation
« on: October 23, 2011, 04:05:53 PM »
Water conservation has become an essential practice in all areas of Bangladesh where water seems abundant.

In addition to saving money on your utility bill, water conservation helps prevent water pollution in nearby lakes, rivers and local watersheds.

Conserving water can also extend the life of your septic system by reducing soil saturation, and reducing any pollution due to leaks. Overloading municipal sewer systems can also cause untreated sewage to flow to lakes and rivers. The smaller the amount of water flowing through these systems, the lower the likelihood of pollution. In some communities, costly sewage system expansion has been avoided by community wide household water conservation.

water conservation in the home...

1. Check faucets and pipes for leaks
A small drip from a worn faucet washer can waste 20 gallons of water per day. Larger leaks can waste hundreds of gallons.

2. Don't use the toilet as an ashtray or wastebasket
Every time you flush a cigarette butt, facial tissue or other small bit of trash, five to seven gallons of water is wasted.

3. Check your toilets for leaks
Put a little food coloring in your toilet tank. If, without flushing, the color begins to appear in the bowl within 30 minutes, you have a leak that should be repaired immediately. Most replacement parts are inexpensive and easy to install.

4. Use your water meter to check for hidden water leaks
Read the house water meter before and after a two-hour period when no water is being used. If the meter does not read exactly the same, there is a leak.

5. Stop water while it is not used

It is our bad habit to open the tap while shampooing hair, scabbing soap or brushing teeth. In this way we can save gallons of water which most important for others but not for you.

6. Put plastic bottles or float booster in your toilet tank
To cut down on water waste, put an inch or two of sand or pebbles inside each of two plastic bottles to weigh them down. Fill the bottles with water, screw the lids on, and put them in your toilet tank, safely away from the operating mechanisms. Or, buy an inexpensive tank bank or float booster. This may save ten or more gallons of water per day.

Be sure at least 3 gallons of water remain in the tank so it will flush properly. If there is not enough water to get a proper flush, users will hold the lever down too long or do multiple flushes to get rid of waste. Two flushings at 1.4 gallons is worse than a single 2.0 gallon flush. A better suggestion would be to buy an adjustable toilet flapper that allow for adjustment of their per flush use.  Then the user can adjust the flush rate to the minimum per flush setting that achieves a single good flush each time.

For new installations, consider buying "low flush" toilets, which use 1 to 2 gallons per flush instead of the usual 3 to 5 gallons.

Replacing an 18 liter per flush toilet with an ultra-low volume (ULV) 6 liter flush model represents a 70% savings in water flushed and will cut indoor water use by about 30%.

7. Insulate your water pipes.
It's easy and inexpensive to insulate your water pipes with pre-slit foam pipe insulation. You'll get hot water faster plus avoid wasting water while it heats up.

8. Take shorter showers.
One way to cut down on water use is to turn off the shower after soaping up, then turn it back on to rinse. A four-minute shower uses approximately 20 to 40 gallons of water.

9. Turn off the water after you wet your toothbrush
There is no need to keep the water running while brushing your teeth. Just wet your brush and fill a glass for mouth rinsing.

10. Rinse your razor in the sink
Fill the sink with a few inches of warm water. This will rinse your razor just as well as running water, with far less waste of water.

11. Use your dishwasher and clothes washer for only full loads
Automatic dishwashers and clothes washers should be fully loaded for optimum water conservation. Most makers of dishwashing soap recomend not pre-rinsing dishes which is a big water savings.
With clothes washers, avoid the permanent press cycle, which uses an added 20 liters (5 gallons) for the extra rinse. For partial loads, adjust water levels to match the size of the load. Replace old clothes washers. New Energy Star rated washers use 35 - 50% less water and 50% less energy per load. If you're in the market for a new clothes washer, consider buying a water-saving frontload washer.

12. Minimize use of kitchen sink garbage disposal units
In-sink 'garburators' require lots of water to operate properly, and also add considerably to the volume of solids in a septic tank which can lead to maintenance problems. Start a compost pile as an alternate method of disposing food waste.

13. When washing dishes by hand, don't leave the water running for rinsing
If your have a double-basin, fill one with soapy water and one with rinse water. If you have a single-basin sink, gather washed dishes in a dish rack and rinse them with a spray device or a panful of hot water. Dual-swivel aerators are available to make this easier. If using a dishwasher, there is usually no need to pre-rinse the dishes.

14. Don't let the faucet run while you clean vegetables
Just rinse them in a stoppered sink or a pan of clean water. Use a dual-setting aerator.

15. Keep a bottle of drinking water in the fridge.
Running tap water to cool it off for drinking water is wasteful. Store drinking water in the fridge in a safe drinking bottle.

16. Don't run the hose while washing your car
Clean the car using a pail of soapy water. Use the hose only for rinsing - this simple practice can save as much as 150 gallons when washing a car. Use a spray nozzle when rinsing for more efficient use of water. Better yet, use a waterless car washing system; there are several brands, such as EcoTouch, which are now on the market.

Nutrition and Food Engineering / How to Remove Water from Ears
« on: October 23, 2011, 10:19:19 AM »
It is annoying and sometimes painful to get water in your ears, and if left there, it can cause ear infections. Try these simple ideas to get the water out of your ears.

Method 1:
Typical Method
Make sure that there is water in your ears. This can easily be checked by slightly tapping your temple with your wrist. You will feel very uneasy if water is stagnant in your ear. Then try any of the following methods.

# Create an ear drying solution. A good solution is a 50:50 mixture of 5% acetic acid (household vinegar) and isopropyl alcohol (95% is best due to less water in the mixture). The acid in this mixture acts to break down the cerumen (earwax) that may be holding in some water in the ear canal, while the alcohol dries fast and takes the water with it.
# An alternate method is to stand on one foot and tilt your head so the offending ear faces the ground. Hop on one foot until the water drains out.
# Another method is to lie down on your side with the clogged ear facing down. Gravity may cause the ear to drain naturally.
# Place your finger in your ear and make a vacuum with your finger by pushing and pulling rapidly. In a moment the water should come out of your ear very quickly.
# Pretend you are gnawing on some food. Tilt your head to the side that doesn't have water in it and then quickly tilt your head to the other side.
# Face affected ear down and then with your palm push in and out until water begins to come out.
# Contact a doctor if none of the above work, you could have an ear infection. Though ear infections are most common in children.

Method 2:
Pawan Suri Method

The Pawan Suri method of removing water from the ear: Tilt your head to the side with the affected ear facing up. Now drip a small amount (5-10 drops) of water into the affected ear (from a cup or the palm of your hand). As the water enters your ear canal, you will feel a "give" as it breaks through the "air-lock" that is trapping the water. Now tilt the head the other way and let all the water drip out....you ear is now clear.

Method 3:
Product Method

There is a product at most drugstores called "swim-ear". You put a few drops in the affected ear and wait until it fills the ear up. Then get a kleenex or cotton ball. Put it in the ear and tilt to the none affected ear. It all will drain out. IT is amazing!

We can put a small cotton into the ears while taking bath specially for the kids.

Everyday when I come to office I have to hold my breath from rickshaw stand to DIU entrance. I feel really bad when I see that number of students are smoking on the foot path as if they are participating in a competition. The entire atmosphere gets smoky and difficult to take full breath. Some try to hide the fire in their hands but most dont care. I wish if I could smash those shops who are selling cigarettes and destroying our fresh blood.I know some are getting annoyed on me for making such comments but still I cant help saying this.According to the sales man "As ppl smokes so that we sell" and the customer says " as they sell we buy." and I think if there is no demand the production will automatically decline.

When your parents were young, people could buy cigarettes and smoke pretty much anywhere — even in hospitals! Ads for cigarettes were all over the place. Today we're more aware about how bad smoking is for our health. Smoking is restricted or banned in almost all public places and cigarette companies are no longer allowed to advertise on TV, radio, and in many magazines.

Almost everyone knows that smoking causes cancer, emphysema, and heart disease; that it can shorten your life by 10 years or more; and that the habit can cost a smoker thousands of taka a year. So how come people are still lighting up? The answer, in a word, is addiction.Once You Start, It's Hard to Stop

Smoking is a hard habit to break because tobacco contains nicotine, which is highly addictive. Like heroin or other addictive drugs, the body and mind quickly become so used to the nicotine in cigarettes that a person needs to have it just to feel normal.

People start smoking for a variety of different reasons. Some think it looks cool. Others start because their family members or friends smoke. Statistics show that about 9 out of 10 tobacco users start before they're 18 years old. Most adults who started smoking in their teens never expected to become addicted. That's why people say it's just so much easier to not start smoking at all.

By smoking, you can cause health problems not only for yourself but also for those around you.

The nicotine, therefore, makes it very difficult (although not impossible) to quit. In fact, on the dangers of smoking, millions of Americans have quit. Still, approximately 440,000 deaths occur in the U.S. each year from smoking-related illnesses; this represents almost 1 out of every 5 deaths. The reason for these deaths is that smoking greatly increases the risk of getting lung cancer, heart attack, chronic lung disease, stroke, and many other cancers. Moreover, smoking is perhaps the most preventable cause of breathing (respiratory) diseases
Smoking harms not just the smoker, but also family members, coworkers, and others who breathe the smoker's cigarette smoke, called secondhand smoke or passive smoke. Among infants up to 18 months of age, secondhand smoke is associated with as many as 300,000 cases of chronic bronchitis and pneumonia each year. In addition, secondhand smoke from a parent's cigarette increases a child's chances for middle ear problems, causes coughing and wheezing, worsens asthma, and increases an infant's risk of dying from sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS).

Smoking is also harmful to the unborn fetus. If a pregnant woman smokes, her fetus is at an increased risk of miscarriage, early delivery (prematurity), stillbirth, infant death, and low birth weight. In fact, it has been estimated that if all women quit smoking during pregnancy, about 4,000 new babies would not die each year.

Exposure to passive smoke can also cause cancer. Research has shown that non-smokers who reside with a smoker have a 24% increase in risk for developing lung cancer when compared with other non-smokers. An estimated 3,000 lung cancer deaths occur each year in the U.S. that are attributable to passive smoking. Secondhand smoke also increases the risk of stroke and heart disease. If both parents smoke, a teenager is more than twice as likely to smoke as a teenager whose parents are both nonsmokers. Even in households where only one parent smokes, young people are more likely to start smoking.

Lets make a try to stop smoking

1. Set a Date to Quit Smoking

If you want to quit smoking, it helps to set a quit date, says Lindy Wolfenden, MD. Wolfenden is an assistant professor of medicine at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta. She is also director of the outpatient pulmonary function laboratory at Emory Clinic. Setting a date to quit formalizes the attempt to quit. And while it may still take several attempts, the likelihood of permanently quitting goes up with each attempt you make.

When you choose a date to quit smoking, make it one when it is less likely you'll have added stress. Stress is a major roadblock to any behavioral change. That's especially true when you try to quit smoking.

Mark the quit date on your calendar. Experts recommend that as it approaches you stay mentally and emotionally focused on this date as a time for new beginnings and better health.

2. Expect to Feel Miserable

When you first quit smoking, it will be rough. You might feel miserable, irritable, even depressed.
For a few weeks, you might feel hungrier than normal. You may want to eat snacks all day long -- anything to occupy your hands and mouth. Once you get past the first few days, though, you will begin to feel more in control.

Keep sugarless gum or hard candy in your pocket during this time as a short-term "fix" when you crave a cigarette.

3. Remove Smoking Triggers
A smoking trigger is anything your brain has connected with smoking. Everyone's smoking triggers are different. Your smoking trigger may be the smell of cigarette smoke, your morning coffee, or spotting an ashtray.

4. Try Nicotine Replacements
"Nicotine replacements are medications that reduce a person's craving for smoking, include nicotine gum, patches, inhalers, and lozenges.

The replacement therapy works by putting nicotine in your system without the buzz that comes with smoking. Nicotine replacement therapy does not provide the same sensation as a cigarette. However, the treatments supply enough nicotine to halt withdrawal symptoms.

Chances for success are higher for those who use stop smoking aids, Schachter says. "Up to 50% of people who use nicotine replacement will stop smoking."

5. Ask About Drugs Approved by the FDA for Helping Smokers Quit

Schachter says there are two approved drugs available that can help people quit smoking. The first is Zyban. It's also known as the antidepressant Wellbutrin. Zyban helps some people quit smoking by reducing nicotine cravings. It may also curb your appetite.

Another prescription drug is Chantix. "It works indirectly on the metabolism of nicotine. This helps overcome the chemical dependency. Chantix blocks the pleasant effects nicotine has on the brain.

Both drugs have a "black box" label warning indicating the most serious type of warning in prescription drug labeling. The warning includes reports on symptoms such as changes in behavior, hostility, agitation, depressed mood, and suicidal thoughts (thinking about harming or killing oneself or planning or trying to do so) while taking either of these medications to stop smoking.

6. Know Why You Crave Cigarettes

If you are a smoker and have tried to quit before, you may feel guilty now. That's especially true for people with illnesses such as COPD or heart disease.Smokers are not self-destructive, lazy, or unmotivated. The cycle of quitting and then going back to smoking, due to the powerful addiction which creates strong cravings for cigarettes. Smoking again after stopping is not a reflection on the character of the person trying to quit.

Even those who have been able to stop smoking for years can get the urge to smoke again. And while no two smokers are alike, trying to quit smoking is guaranteed to increase feelings of stress, anxiety, and depression.

7. Get Support or Counseling

One way to deal with the stress of quitting -- and increase the odds that you'll quit for good -- is to consider group or individual counseling, according to Wolfenden. And, she adds, always talk to your physician to get the best help you can.
Quitting Cigarettes for Good

So if cigarettes are so addictive, can you quit smoking for good? Yes. Anyone who wants to quit smoking has a 3% to 5% chance of quitting, says Schachter. Most patients who do quit smoking have to try several times. But each time you try to quit, you have another 5% chance.

Your chances of stopping cigarettes once and for all adds up over time. For example, say you're on your fourth try to quit smoking. This means you may have a 20% chance of really making it.So please lets at least try to quit smoking!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Common Forum / When a thief forced you to take money from the ATM
« on: September 24, 2011, 09:39:51 AM »

When a thief forced you to take money from the ATM, do not argue or resist, you might not know what he or she might do to you. What you should do is to punch your PIN in the reverse...

Eg: If your PIN is 1234, you punch 4321.

The moment you punch in the reverse, the money will come out, but will be stuck into the machine half way out and it will alert the police without the notice of the thief.

Every ATM has it; It is specially made to signify danger and help. Not everyone is aware of this

Common Forum / Types of Fear
« on: December 30, 2010, 09:28:21 AM »
4 types of Fear u must know

We all want to dominate our fears and phobias. We don’t want that these negative reactions stop possessing us It will be even better if we control them and use them to your advantage.

The Result Of Fear

When you think that some things, people, or places can produce undesirable consequences when you are near them, that’s the result of fear.

The Role of Fear

Fear is really designed to warn you. It is your biological security alarm to keep you from treading unknown territory unprepared. If you re-discover the true role of fear in your life, you would find it a real friend in times of danger.
Fear is not meant to forbid you. It means to warn you for early preparation. Fear tells you to think twice before you launch into an adventure. It gives you time or another chance to prepare so that you can be better equipped the next time around. This is the correct perspective on fear.
For instance, the Bible is replete with warnings for the Jews to fear God. This was not to stop them from going to God. The fear was to make them extra careful about approaching a holy God.
Children are also trained to fear their parents, especially the father in a patriarchal setting. This is not to stop them from approaching their parents, but to keep the kids disciplined, in order to please the parents.
A trained dog fears his master so much, and yet it fondly approaches him with excitement. The master is delighted by a trained dog’s correct behavior.

Types Of Fears

There are four types of fear

1- Healthy Fear

You fear someone you highly respect. In this sense, fear is a byproduct of wisdom and high esteem. You don’t fear the person because you are afraid of him. You fear him because he excites admiration and reverence.

2- Alarming Fear

Alarming fear occurs when you sense some threat or danger in a place, person, or thing. The idea is not to stop you, but to make you very careful in your undertakings. The idea is to dissuade you from pursuing a wrong direction.

3- Debilitating Fear

Debilitating fear is synonymous to being afraid. In simple words, it turns you into a coward. It makes you want to suddenly disappear from the situation at hand. Debilitating fear makes you give up in fighting the thing you’re afraid of.

4- The No-Fear Guys

There are people who seem to be fearless — or at least they claim to be so. Some believe them, but others do not. There are people who claim that bravado is not the absence, but the conquest, of fear. This means fear is still intact; but brave people are able to conquer their fear masterfully.

A person’s blood type is very important in a medical emergency that might require a blood transfusion or an organ transplant. The study of blood is a particular specialty in medicine known as hematology. There are 29 different blood group systems, each represented by specific elements found on the surface of red blood cells. The most common blood group systems are ABO and Rhesus.

A person’s blood type becomes a crucial matter when a blood transfusion is necessary. If an individual is transfused with the wrong blood type, a reaction that severely compromises the immune system can result. There are different levels at which a mismatched transfusion can occur, from minor to major incompatibility. Minor factors may lead to very minor problems, but a major incompatibility of blood type during a transfusion can be serious.

So please be serious about this and try to know what is your Blood group without any delay.

A simple, yet very expressive snap!
MOTHER IS GOD'S Best GIFT.

THERE IS NOTHING IN THE WORLD BETTER THAN MOTHER'S LOVE.......

Baby Monkey hit by bike

...Nothing in this world is better than a Mother...

..- Do you know..

a human body can bear only upto 45 Del (unit) of pain.
But at the time of giving birth, a woman feels upto 57 Del of Pain.
This is similar to 20 bones getting fractured at a time!!!!

THE MOST BEAUTIFUL PERSON ON THIS EARTH

Are they pens with cameras?

Any wild guesses? No clue yet?Ladies and gentlemen... congratulations!
You've just looked into the future... yep that's right!

You've just seen something that will replace your PC in the near future.

Here is how it works:

In the revolution of miniature computers, scientists have made great developments with bluetooth technology.. .
This is the forthcoming computers you can carry within your pockets .

This "pen sort of instrument" produces both the monitor as well as the keyboard on any flat surfaces from where you can carry out functions you would normally do on your desktop computer.
