Business Administration / BPL and our economy
« on: November 12, 2016, 11:18:32 PM »
The specialised infrastructure and operating expenses required to host the BPL, however, is extremely costly, and it is not at all clear that either the long or short-term benefits of the games are anywhere nearly large enough to cover the economic costs. Bangladesh, a country with a staggering 160 million population strives for achieving the middle income country status by 2021. With this in mind and despite numerous economic shocks of external and domestic origin along with inflationary pressure and other monetary management problem, is the country ready to host such a major event within the country?

A Trump presidency will plunge the United States into an era of unknowns that has little parallel in the nation’s 240-year history.

While Donald J. Trump has been vague about his position on many issues, he has been explicit about several that would fundamentally change America’s direction.

If his campaign promises become reality — and it is not clear how many he will actually pursue — the Affordable Care Act could be repealed with the help of a Republican-dominated House and Senate whose leadership had virtually given up hope of recapturing the White House. Mr. Trump said he would replace the act with something better, but he never offered a plan.

The Supreme Court would veer right – perhaps eventually far to the right of where it was before Justice Antonin Scalia’s death created a vacancy that Mr. Trump will now fill, and there is the prospect of several more openings during his tenure. The wall he promised along the Mexican border would be built, and the prospect of immigration reform may be buried beneath it.

BBA Discussion Forum / Effect of Facebook on Our Life
« on: November 23, 2015, 06:48:50 PM »
Effect on higher education:

The EDUCAUSE Learning Initiative has  released a brief pamphlet entitled "7 Things You Should Know About Facebook" aimed at higher education professionals that "describes what [Facebook] is, where it is going, and why it matters to teaching and learning".
Some research on Facebook in higher education suggests that there may be some small educational benefits associated with student Facebook use, including improving engagement which is related to student retention. More recent research has found that time spent on Facebook is related to involvement in campus activities. This same study found that certain Facebook activities like commenting and creating or RSVPing to events were positively related to student engagement while playing games and checking up on friends was negatively related. Furthermore, using technologies such as Facebook to connect with others can help college students be less depressed and cope with feelings of loneliness and homesickness.

"Necessity knows no bound" - the saying was based on daily needs and wants. But the fact is now brought to the daily lives. No matter it is friday or saturday, we have to finish our responsibilities. And that is why we are taking classes the whole day on friday and saturday despite enjoying our free days that comes in the weekend.  :(

They are just waiting for when their make up classes will be held. Even the teachers are running back and through to look for their schedules to cover the make up the classes. Friday and Saturday are not enough. Can we get 9 days in a week with 2 fridays and 2 saturdays???

Well, nevertheless to say that Business Festival is one of the largest initiatives of out beloved DIU.

I am very glad to become a part of this. But I am feeling very upset on behaviors of some students who have destroyed some of the decorations done for this festival.

I have seen the effort the organizers put to decorate the premises. Even I lead a team of 18 students in decorating the entire. We worked for almost 18 hours at a stretch. And those non-sense students have destroyed it in 18 seconds.

My request to all is to keep this decoration for next two days till the business festival ends.
