আমাদের এ সৌরজগতে সূর্যকে কেন্দ্র করে ঘোরে পৃথিবী। তবে এমন গ্রহের বাইরেও রয়েছে ভিন্ন বৈশিষ্ট্যের গ্রহ। বিজ্ঞানীরা এমন গ্রহকে বলেছেন “নিঃসঙ্গ গ্রহ”। কেউ আবার বলেছেন “এতিম গ্রহ”। এমন তালিকায় যুক্ত হলো নতুন আরেকটি গ্রহ। ফ্রান্স ও কানাডার একদল জ্যোতির্বিদের পর্যবেক্ষনে ধরা পড়েছে এমনই এক “নিঃসঙ্গ গ্রহ”। তাদের ধারনা, সিএফবিডিএসাইআর২১৪৯ নামের এ গ্রহটি কোনো নক্ষত্রকে কেন্দ্র করে ঘুরছে না। জ্যোতির্বিজ্ঞানবিষয়ক সাময়িকী অ্যাস্ট্রোনোমি এবং অ্যাস্ট্রোফিজিকসে গত সপ্তাহে এ বিষয়ে তাদের একটি নিবন্ধ প্রকাশিত হয়েছে। গবেষনা দলের নেতা ছিলেন ফেলিপ্পি ডেলর্মি।

গবেষকেরা বলছেন, গ্রহটির ভর বৃহস্পতির চার থেকে সাত গুন বেশি। নিঃসঙ্গ গ্রহের তালিকায় যুক্ত এই গ্রহটির আকর্ষনক্ষমতা অন্যদের চেয়ে সম্পূর্ন ভিন্ন। ধারনা করা হচ্ছে, গ্রহটির বয়স ৫০ থেকে ১২০ মিলিয়ন বছর। এই আবর্তনশীল গ্রহটি কোনো নক্ষত্রকে পরিভ্রমন করে না। গ্রহটির উৎপত্তি সম্পর্কে বিজ্ঞানীরা বলছেন, এটি হয় একটি নক্ষত্রপুঞ্জ থেকে ছিটকে এসেছে অথবা ভিন্নভাবে সৃষ্টি হয়েছে। এক যুগেরও আগে নক্ষত্রপুঞ্জ ওরিয়ন নেবুলায় এমন আরও প্রায় এক ডজন গ্রহের প্রথম সন্ধান মিলেছিল। এরপর তালিকায় যুক্ত হয়েছে এমন আরও কয়েক ডজন গ্রহ।

তবে নতুন এ গ্রহটি সম্পর্কে কানাডার মন্ট্রিল ইউনিভার্সিটির গবেষক এনটিনি আরটিগাও বলেন, এই আবিষ্কার বেশ তাৎপর্যপূর্ন। কারন এটি পাওয়া গেছে নক্ষত্র সৃষ্টি হওয়ার অঞ্চলের বাইরে। এটি তুলনামূলক বয়স্ক, বেশি ঠান্ডা এবং পৃথিবীর বেশি নিকটে। পৃথিবী থেকে এটি আনুমানিক ১৩০ আলোকবর্ষ দূরে অবস্থিত।

পদার্থবিজ্ঞানী আলবার্ট আইনস্টাইনকে এযাবৎকালের মধ্যে সবচেয়ে মেধাবী মানুষের একজন ভাবা হয়। তাই তার মস্তিস্কের গঠন নিয়ে গবেষকদের মধ্যে রয়েছে কৌতূহলের পাহাড়। এ নিয়ে গবেষনাও হচ্ছে। যুক্ত্রাষ্ট্রের ফ্লোরিডা স্টেট ইউনিভার্সিটির নৃবিজ্ঞানী ডিন ফক ও তার সহযোগীরা আইনস্টাইনের মস্তিস্কের ১২টি ছবি নিয়ে নতুন করে গবেষনা করেছেন। এতে মস্তিস্কের এমন কিছু অবকাঠামো উঠে এসেছে, যা আগের গবেষনায় ব্যবহৃত ছবিগুলোতে দেখা যায়নি। ছবিগুলো এত দিন সংরক্ষিত ছিল মেরিল্যান্ডে অবস্থিত ন্যাশনাল মিউজিয়াম অব হেলথ অ্যান্ড মেডিসিনে। গবেষনার ফল প্রকাশ করা হয়েছে অক্সফোর্ড ইউনিভার্সিটি প্রেস প্রকাশিত সাময়িকী ব্রেইন-এ।

গবেষনার সবচেয়ে আকর্ষনীয় পর্যবেক্ষন হচ্ছে, আইনস্টাইনের সস্তিস্কের সেরিব্রাল কর্টেক্সের জটিল গঠন ও খাঁজের ধরন। এটি জ্ঞান, অভিজ্ঞতা সঞ্চয়কারী ও চিন্তাশক্তিতে ভূমিকা পালনকারী মস্তিস্কের অংশ। বিশেষ করে, মগজের উপরিভাগের সামনের অংশ বা প্রিফ্রন্টিয়াল কর্টেক্সে এটা দেখা গেছে। বিজ্ঞানীদের মতে, বিমূর্ত চিন্তার জন্য মস্তিস্কের প্রিফ্রন্টিয়াল কর্টেক্স জরুরী। মহাশুন্য ও সময়ের প্রকৃতি নিয়ে আইনস্টাইনের বিখ্যাত তত্ত যেমন, আলোকরশ্মির পাশাপাশি ছুটে চলা- এমনটা কল্পনা করার জন্য তার এটা দরকার ছিল। সম্ভবত তার মস্তিস্কের খাঁজের এই ভিন্ন জটিল ধরনের কারনেই তিনি অসাধারন সব ক্ষমতার অধিকারী হয়ে থাকতে পারেন।

ফক ও তার সহযোগীরা মস্তিস্কের ডান দিকের সোমাটোসেন্সরি কর্টেক্সেও ভিন্ন বৈশিষ্ট্য লক্ষ করেছেন। এই অংশ দেহের ইন্দ্রিয়গ্রাহ্য তথ্য গ্রহন করে থাকে। গবেষকেরা ইঙ্গিত দেন, এ কারনেই সম্ভবত আইনস্টাইন বেহালা বাজাতে সিদ্ধহস্ত ছিলেন।

১৯৫৫ সালে আইনস্টাইনের মৃত্যুর পর তার লাশের ময়নাতদন্তের কাজ পান বিখ্যাত প্যাথলজিস্ট থমাস হার্ভে। তিনি আইনস্টাইনের মস্তিস্ক অপসারন করে বিশেষ প্রক্রিয়ায় সংরক্ষন করেন। এরপর তা ২৪০ খন্ডে বিভক্ত করার আগে তিনি কয়েক ডজন সাদাকালো ছবি তুলে রাখেন।

চালু হলো মোবাইল ফোনের বিভিন্ন অ্যাপ্লিকেশন (অ্যাপস) পাওয়ার বাংলাদেশি অনলাইন দোকান (অ্যাপস্টোর) “ইএটিএল অ্যাপস” (www.eatlapps.com)। এথিক্স অ্যাডভান্সড টেকনোলজি লিমিটেড (ইএটিএল) তৈরী করেছে এই অ্যাপস্টোর। নানা কাজের জন্য বিভিন্ন রকম অ্যাপস এতে থাকবে। ইএটিএলের প্রধান নির্বাহী নিজাম উদ্দীন জানান, এ অ্যাপস্টোরের মাধ্যমে কৃষি, শিক্ষা, health ও সামাজিক যোগাযোগের ওপর বিভিন্ন অ্যাপস নির্মানের উদ্যোগ নেওয়া হবে। প্রতিষ্ঠানটি শিক্ষার্থীদের জন্য “মোবাইল অ্যাপস” তৈরীর প্রতিযোগিতার ঘোষনা দেয়। প্রতিযোগিতায় সারা দেশের বিভিন্ন শিক্ষাপ্রতিষ্ঠানের শিক্ষার্থীরা অংশ নিতে পারবেন। পুরস্কার হিসেবে রয়েছে পাঁচ লাখ, দুই লাখ ও এক লাখ টাকা এবং স্মার্টফোন। এই অ্যাপস্টোর থেকে যে কেউ অ্যাপস নামাতে পারবেন এবং নিজের তৈরী অ্যাপসও এখানে রাখা যাবে। এখন এতে অ্যান্ড্রয়েড ও জাভাসমর্থিত অ্যাপস পাওয়া যাচ্ছে।

না খেয়ে বেঁচে থাকা কোনো প্রানীর পক্ষেই সম্ভব নয়। পেটে দানাপানি না পড়লে কেমন লাগে, এক বেলা না খেয়ে থাকলে হাড়ে হাড়ে টের পাওয়া যায়। এর পরও এমন কিছু প্রানী আছে যারা ক্ষুধা অনেক দিন দমিয়ে রাখতে পারে। মরুর জাহাজ উটের কথাই ধরা যাক। দিগন্তবিস্তারী মরুভূমিতে চাঁদি ফাটানো রোদের মধ্যে মানুষসহ বোঝা নিয়ে ক্লান্তিহীন হেটেঁ যায় তারা। দিনের পর দিন এভাবেই কাটে। এ সময় খাবার না পেলেও ক্ষুৎপিপাসায় কাতর হয় না ওরা। এর কারনটি হচ্ছে উটের পিঠে পাহাড়ের মতো উঁচু হয়ে থাকা কুঁজ। এই কুঁজ পুরাটাই চর্বির ভান্ডার। উট যখন না খেয়ে থাকে, এই চর্বি হজম হয়ে তার টিকে থাকার ক্ষমতা জোগায়। এছাড়া উটের গলার ভিতর পানি জমিয়ে রাখার থলে রয়েছে। এ সঞ্চয় তার পানির চাহিদা মিটায়।

সাপের ও খিদে ঠেকিয়ে রাখার ক্ষমতা দারুন। অনেক সাপই একটানা এক বছর না খেয়ে থাকতে পারে। স্যামন মাছ প্রায় নয় মাস না খেয়ে থাকতে পারে। সাগর থেকে এই মাছ যখন ঝাঁক বেঁধে নদীর উজানের দিকে ছোটে, এ সময় না খেয়ে থাকে ওরা। ভালুকদের মধ্যে বাদামি গ্রিজলি ভালুক অতিকায় একটি প্রানী। দেহ যেমন খায়ও তেমন। তবে খিদে চেপে রাখতেও কম পটু নয়। শীতকালে এই ভালুক নির্জন কোনো নিরাপদ জায়গায় শীতঘুমের আয়োজন করে। এ সময় পুরোটা শীতকাল ঘুমিয়ে কাটায় ওরা। এতে একটানা সাত মাস না খেলেও কিছু হয়না ওদের। ঠিক উটের মত গায়ে জমে থাকা চর্বি খাবারের কাজ করে।

ইংরেজিতে ওদের বলে “হানিপট অ্যান্ট”। বাংলায় ‘মধুপিঁপড়া’। শরীরের চেয়ে বড় গোলগাল একটা মধুর পোঁটলা নিয়ে ঘুরে ওরা। সঙ্গে মধু নিয়ে ঘুরলে কী হবে, উপোসে কম যায় না। একটানা ছয় মাস না খেলেও কাহিল হয় না ওরা। সামুদ্রিক প্রানীর মধ্যে বিশাল খাদক বলে কুখ্যাতি আছে তিমির। এ ক্ষেত্রে অ্যান্টার্কটিকার সাগরজলে বাস করা ‘সাউদার্ন রাইট হোয়েল’ একটানা চার মাস না খেয়ে থাকতে পারে। মেরু অঞ্চলের পাখি এমপেরর পেঙ্গুইন বা রাজ পেংগুইনও  না খেয়ে থাকতে পারে অনেক দিন। ডিম থেকে ছানা ফোটার পর কনকনে হিম পরিবেশে ওটাকে আগলে রাখে বাবা পেঙ্গুইন। আর মা যায় সাগরে মাছ ধরে আনতে। এ সময় মাস তিনেক একদম খেতে পারে না বাবা পেঙ্গুইন।

রমনা পার্কে সকালে হঠাৎ অট্টহাসি শোনা যায়। হাটার পর অনেকে ব্যায়ামের অংশ হিসেবে অট্টহাসির চর্চা করেন। অনেকে আবার কিছুক্ষন প্রান খুলে হাসার পরক্ষনেই বুক ভাসিয়ে কান্না জুড়ে দেন। এটাও এক ব্যায়াম। কিন্তু হাসি-কান্না তো মূলত কৌতুক বা বেদনাদায়ক কিছুর প্রতিক্রিয় মাত্র। এতে কিভাবে ব্যায়াম হয়? এটা আসলে ফুসফুস, হৃদযন্ত্র এবং গলা, বুক ও পেটের মাংসপেশির ব্যায়াম। হাসির সময় প্রবল বেগে ভিতর থেকে বাতাস বের হয়। ডায়াফ্রামের পেশিকে বেশ কঠিন কাজ করতে হয়। আমরা অনেক সময় বলি, হাসতে হাসতে মারা গেলাম। তার মানে, অবিরাম হাসি এত কষ্টসাধ্য যে একসময় শক্‌তির শেষ সীমানায় পৌছে গেছি বলে মনে হয়। একটানা হাসি বেশ চাপ সৃষ্টি করে ও হাপিয়ে তোলে। কিন্তু হাসি কি ব্যায়ামের মতোই শারীরিক প্রতিক্রিয়া সৃষ্টি করে? ব্যায়ামের ফলে সৃষ্ট কষ্টকর অনুভুতির প্রতিক্রিয়ায় শরীর এনড্রফিন নিঃসরন করে। এতে বেদনাদায়ক অনুভুতি কমে যায়। দেখা গেছে, জোরে একটানা হাসলেও শরীরে একই ধরনের প্রতিক্রিয়া সৃষ্টি হয়। অর্থাৎ, হাসিও একধরনের ব্যায়াম। কান্নার ব্যাপারটাও তাই। দলবেধে হাসি-কান্নায় আরও ভালো কাজ হয়।

কর্নফুলীর উজান ঠেলে ছুটে চলেছে জাহাজ। দূর পাহাড়ে সবুজের হাতছানি। নদীর পাড়ে বাধা ছোট্ট ডিঙি। চট্টগ্রাম শহরের পতেঙ্গায় বোট ক্লাবের রিভারভিউ রেস্তোরায় পাবেন এমন পরিবেশ। এখানে বসে উপভোগ করা যাবে নদী আর পাহাড়ের মিতালি। নদীর কোল ঘেষে রেস্তোরাটি এমনভাবে গড়া, খাবারের টেবিলে বসলে মনে হবে নদীর জল যেন আছড়ে পড়ছে গায়ে। পরিস্কার কাচে ঘেরা ঘরে বসার আয়োজন। রেস্তোরা থেকে নদী দেখে তৃপ্তি না পেলে নিচের তলায় গিয়ে চলে যান খোলা সবুজ বারান্দায়। পার্কের আদলে করা বারান্দায় রয়েছে বসার বেঞ্চ।

এখানে রয়েছে ১২০ জনের মিনি হল এবং ৩৫০ জনের বলরুম। মূল রেস্তোরায় একসঙ্গে বসা যাবে ৩৫০ জন। রেস্তোরাটি দুপুর ১২ টা থেকে রাত ১১ টা পর্যন্ত খোলা থাকে। এখানে থাই, চায়নিজ, ভারতীয় ও দেশি নানা খাবার পাওয়া যায়। দুপুরের খাবার ৩০০ টাকা ও রাতের খাবার ৫০০ টাকার মধ্যে পাওয়া যাবে। রিভারভিউ রেস্তোরায় অতিথিদের জন্য কিছু বিশেষ খাবা্র ও রয়েছে। এখানে ড্রামস অব হেভেন (চিকেন) দাম ২৫০ টাকা, ফিশ কেক ২৫০, চিকেন সতে ২৩০, বিরিয়ানি মোরগ মহারাজা ১২০০, গ্রিল লেগ অব ল্যাম ১৬০০, পেপের স্টেক সঙ্গে মাশরুম সস ৮০০, টি বোন স্টেক ৬৫০, গ্রিল রেড স্ন্যাপার ১৫০০ ও চিকেন সিকান্দারি ৫৫০ টাকার মধ্যে পাওয়া যাবে। এখানে সব ধরনের খাবার যে কোনো সময় পাওয়া যায়।

বাংলা সাহিত্যের প্রবাদ পুরুষ হুমায়ূন আহমেদ ১৯৪৮ সালের ১৩ নভেম্বর নেত্রকোনার কুতুবপুরে জন্মগ্রহন করেন। পিতা ফয়জুর রহমান আহমেদ ছিলেন পুলিশ কর্মকর্তা। তিনি মুক্তিযুদ্ধে পাকিস্তানি সেনাবাহিনীর হাতে শহীদ হন। মায়ের নাম আয়েশা ফয়েজ। ঢাকা ইউনিভার্সিটির রসায়ন বিভাগের মেধাবী ছাত্র হুমায়ূন পাঠ শেষ করে ওই বিভাগেই প্রভাষক হিসাবে যোগ দেন। একপর্যায়ে তিনি অধ্যাপনা ছেড়ে লেখালেখি, নাটক ও চলচ্চিত্র নির্মানে নিমগ্ন হন। ১৯৭২ সালে তার প্রথম প্রকাশিত উপন্যাস “নন্দিত নরকে”। হুমায়ূন আহমেদ একুশে পদক, বাংলা একাডেমী পুরষ্কারসহ দেশে বিদেশে নানা পুরষ্কার ও সম্মাননা পেয়েছেন। গত ১৯ জুলাই তিনি কোলন ক্যানসারে আক্রান্ত হয়ে নিউইয়র্কে ইন্তেকাল করেন।

হুমায়ূন আহমেদের জন্মদিন উপলক্ষে আজ তার বইয়ের প্রকাশকেরা ১২ দিনব্যাপী একক বই মেলার আয়োজন করেছে। কেন্দ্রীয় গ্রন্থাগার প্রাঙ্গনে মেলাটি ১২ দিনব্যাপী চলবে।

When civilization was not introduced among mankind, people was ferocious. They didn’t know the value of their lives. They lived their lives like animals. They didn’t think anything before doing any work.

But Civilization teaches us safety. It gives us the ideas about our lives. Now we can think about the earth, the stars and the solar system as well. So, our lives bear more values in this era of technology. So, we should take more care of ourselves for us as well as for the nation.

Recently, few young are being seen to drive motorcycle carelessly as if they are totally indifferent about their lives as well as about others’. They think that they enjoy their lives in a unique way or they make funs. But they don’t think that what they are doing is very risky. If unfortunately one accident is occurred, they may loss many unique opportunities of their lives. There are many examples where we can see that such type of enjoyment or fun is the root cause of one’s being paralyzed.

So, please be careful and live a safe life what our civilization taught us.

We love to live in Nature. Actually living in Nature is awesome. When we see a natural picture, we become happy. Even in our mind, we think that we should be there sometimes. Actually love for nature in our mind is assigned by God. Green is the sign of Nature. That’s why we always search a green place to build our home. Again “Green Signal” means everything is alright. Green is a positive sign. Besides these green bears many signs.

Green place is also a sign of healthy environment.  Many steps have already taken by our government as well as by private sector to make our capital green. I think only green environment can’t make people happy if people don’t feel them safe. If injustice is continued, green environment can’t spread peace among people.

I think all of us are familiar with the slogan of the Daily Prothom Alo  “Bodle Jao Bodle Dao”. This slogan has conquered many hearts of civil society. Many people from the civil society participated in various programs of the Daily Prothom Alo under the slogan of “Bodle Jao Bodle Dao”.

We, the members of DIU family, always keep our campus clean. Our all campuses are smoking and drug free zone. Everyone here follows the rules of the DIU. Eve teasing is strictly prohibited here. Now we should look our surroundings. We should make people conscious about our healthy environment and justice. So, can we create a slogan by ourselves under the banner of DIU? Because a slogan plays an important role to make something successful. Your valuable comments will help us to go ahead.

Common Forum / The Gift of God

Man can think. It’s a great gift from God. Only this unique power made a difference between man and other creations of God. It is such a power that till now things man has already done, he did trough this power. Why did God give man this power and why not to all other creations? Cause he assigned some responsibilities to man and not to others.

Now what are the responsibilities of Man? To be educated, to earn money, to lead happy life are these all? Does man think of his this unique power?

Man invented and discovered many things. But the question is that did he do those with a sense of responsibility or he had some other intentions? I mean intention to earn money or intention to be famous etc. If anyone does anything with a sense of responsibility, no illogical demand rises at him. But in our society, we can see most of the people doing better something with a hidden view. And for their illogical hidden intention, common people can’t lead better life and they are not benefited from any new invention.

Can’t we change ourselves? Can’t we think about our unique power that God gave us?

Can you find out a man who does not dream? In fact, everyone dreams. Some dreams are totally meaningless and we know it will never happen. Some dreams we like to dream but not to happen really. Some dreams we dream often and some are very rare. Then too we like to dream. We like to dream that are good for us. Sometimes if we don’t dream so, we appear that we have dreamt like that. Its for nothing but only for our satisfaction. Thus we all love to dream but many of us don’t know that Dream is the magic of success.

We can say, for example, the Tajmahal which was built by the emperor Shahjahan as a sign of love for his beloved wife Mamtaj. Actually Shahjahan dreamt a dream about it and then he decided to build that. There are many cases in the world that people dreamt first then made that true.

We also dreamt a dream about our Padma Bridge. The people of Bangladesh will enjoy more facilities through Padma Bridge. Foreign investors will choice our country to invest for its smooth communication facility. New industries will be setup. Unemployment will be reduced. A truly golden Bengal will come before us to enjoy freedom. Bangladesh will be a place of peace where none lives hungry. Was it a very big demand? Was it totally out of range of our government? Why all of our colorful dreams become black and white? Are we the nation doesn’t know about the magic of success? What should be the answers to these questions?

Moreover, we are known to the world as the most industrious nation. The people of this country are brave. They have maximum feelings for their country; even there are many examples of sacrificing lives for their country. Then, why can’t we be success?

After all drama Syed Abul Hossain resigned. That means government accepted the WB’s conditions. Now we are hopeful that WB will finance in the project and the construction work of Padma Bridge will start soon.

My friend, Shantunur  is a very gentle man. We really feel good when we be with him as he makes funs and delivers his speech in a different way. One day he told us a real story of his life that was occurred when he was a student of class ten and lived in Feni.

One day, Shantunur’s parents went to a invitation to Dhaka and he was the only person in their house. At the time of leaving his mother gave him 200tk to go to his grandfather’s house at Chandina, Comilla. After the leave of his parents, shantunur decided to go to a saloon and to cut off his hair. Then he did so. After completing the hair cut, saloon man asked him to have some more services from that saloon. Shantunur wanted to know the cost of those services but the saloon man did not make him clear by saying the actual price but he replied its very cheap sir. Shantunur agreed with him to have the services. After having the services when shantunur prepared himself to pay the bill, the saloon man asked 670tk. He was surprised as well as puzzled. He became angry and told the saloon man why you did not tell me the actual price before, now I don’t have this amount with me, I have to go to my house to collect the rest amount. The saloon man agreed with him and sent a stuff with shantunur to their house.

But shantunur thought he had only 200tk to go to his grandfather’s house and no more money in house. If he gives 200tk to the saloon man he can’t go to Chandina. Now what to do? Suddenly he got an idea that I think he did a BAD PRACTICE of his intelligence. While he was walking towards his house with the saloon man, he found an open gate of a house (he did not know whose house this is). He suddenly entered into the gate and closed the gate from his end. Then the saloon man was out of the gate and was knocking  to open it. But sitting on the stairs, shantunur was just waiting for his (saloon man) leave. The saloon man waited there for two hours.

Having no response saloon man became angry and left the place. when shantunur observed that saloon man was not in front of the gate, he came out of the gate and started running to his house.
