The orientation program for the newly enrolled undergraduate students of Fall-2016 semester of Daffodil International University Permanent Campus was held today on October 29, 2016, at Permanent Campus Auditorium of the university.


Mr. Md. Sabur Khan, Chairman, DIU was present at the Orientation Program as the chief guest. presided over by Professor Dr. Yousuf M. Islam, Vice Chancellor, DIU the function was also addressed by Professor Dr. S M Mahbub-Ul-Haque Majumder, Acting Pro-Vice Chancellor, Mr. Hamidul Haque Khan, Treasurer, Prof. Dr. Engr. A K. M. Fazlul Hoque, Registrar and Professor Dr. Mostafa Kamal, Director (Permanent Campus).

This time Art of Living team from Daffodil International University has got the invitation from Lalmatia Girls' High School. To spread Art of Living in all over the country and contribute through Academic Social Responsibility, Daffodil International University has launched ART of Living: a Motivational Session at different schools and colleges in all over Bangladesh. The session was conducted on 07 August, 2016 by Mr. Syed Mizanur Rahman, Co-author of ART of Living & Director of Students' Affairs. Mr. Swapan Kumar Saha, Head Master of the school and a good number of teachers also attended the session.

Students' Activities / Green Freedom Cleaning Festival 2016

Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom, Bangladesh & Daffodil International University organized ‘Green Freedom Cleaning Festival 2016’

To create awareness on environment issues and to engage young groups in developmental work and to ensure safety of our environment, Daffodil International University (DIU) and Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom (FNF) of Germany jointly organized ‘Green Freedom Cleaning Festival 2016’ today on October 14, 2016 at Rabindra Sorobor of Dhanmondi Lake of the capital.



Country’s renowned Journalist, columnist and researcher Syed Abul Maksud inaugurated the festival as the chief guest. Mr. Sukumar Biswas, Director (Dhaka Metro), Directorate of Environment, Dr. Md. Zahurul Islam, Director, Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute, Mr. Anis Alamgir, Head of News, Asian Television, Mr. Hasibur Rahman, Executive Director, MRDI were present as the special guests. Professor A M M Hamidur Rahman, Dean, Faculty of Humanities and Social Science of DIU presided over the program. Conducted by Mr. Syed Mizanur

Rahman, Director (Students’ Affairs), the function was also addressed by Dr. A B M Kamal Pasha, Head, Department of Environmental Science and Disaster Management of DIU.



The main objective of this festival is to create public awareness about our environment and inspiring young generation to be involved in environmental development activities. 12 student groups comprising with maximum five members of different public and private universities and colleges took part in the festival. ‘Radiant’ group from Notre Dame University became champion in the festival while ‘Clean Fighter’ of Daffodil International University became 1st Runner Up and ‘Grilling Developers’ of Dhaka University became 2nd Runner Up.



At the closing session Professor A M M Hamidur Rahman, Dean, Faculty of Humanities and Social Science of DIU conducted the oath taking part of the ceremony where the students Swire upon to give their best effort to restore their environment and keep the environment green and clean. Later Professor A M M Hamidur Rahman distributed prizes among the winners.



Under the cleaning festival, participants had to clean the areas of Dhanmondi Lake from Rabindra Sorobor to Zhigatola area dividing in to 12 zones.

Mr. M Anis Ud Dowla, Chairman, ACI Group, speaks at DIU Industry Academia Lecture Series on Entrepreneurship Development.

With the aim to inform and motivate the educated youths of the struggle and challenges faced on route to success by the well known entrepreneurs of the country, Innovation and Incubation Center (IIC) of Daffodil International University (DIU) has taken the initiative where country’s renowned 12 successful well known Entrepreneurs will took part in these lecture series gradually titled “Daffodil International University Industry Academia Lecture Series on Entrepreneurship Development “ in different episode and will deliver their success story.



Mr. M Anis Ud Dowla, Chairman, ACI Ltd. delivered the 4th lecture of the series on “Entrepreneurship towards Innovation” today on October 08, 2016 at DIU Auditorium as a part of its continuous process. Mr. Md. Sabur Khan, Chairman, Board of Trustees, Daffodil International University delivered the welcome address in the program. The program was also addressed by Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Yousuf M Islam, Daffodil International University, Alhaj Sufi Mizanur Rahman, Chairman, PHP Group, Md. Abu Taher, Director, Innovation and Incubation Center (IIC) of DIU. The program was moderated by Syed Mizanur Rahman Raju, Director (Students' Affairs).



 A large number of students, country’s renowned industrialists, business leaders, economists, teachers, researchers, secretaries, ambassadors and elites of the civil society were present at the program. Mr. M Anis Ud Dowla shared his long journey to ACI Ltd. and answered lot of questions of the students in the question –answer session and finally Mr. Md. Sabur Khan, Chairman, Board of Trustees, Daffodil International University handed over a memento to Mr. M Anis Ud Dowla, Chairman, ACI Ltd.

The concept of “Daffodil Startup Market – an entrepreneurs’ lab” has been initiated to promote entrepreneurial potentials of students and to create more buzz in Campus Life. It is a platform for YOU to run small businesses and learn from those practical experiences.

Startup market also facilitates you (student-entrepreneur) to learn about starting up a new business in all legal, financial, strategic planning, and grooming aspects, reason why it is called Entrepreneurs Lab where they are learning by doing. 

YOU can sell almost any wares, books, candles, foods, art-works, handmade goods, jewelry, bonsai, toys, seasonal items and anything innovative that they want to sale over a period of a whole day (from 10 AM-5 PM) at a rental of only BDT 300. It is an extremely viable option for budding Student Entrepreneurs in Daffodil International University.

As per practice, Office of the Director of Students' Affairs (DSA Office) successfully organized Foundation Class for the freshers of Fall-2016. The classes were started on August 20, 2016 and ended on September 20, 2016. A remarkable number of students from different faculties attended the classes regularly.


The freshers also organized a colorful Celebration Program on September 21, 2016 to celebrate their Foundation Class. They organized the program independently with their own initiatives. All the teachers who conducted the classes were invited in the program and students welcomed them with flower.



The students performed song, fun show, drama and dance in the program.

The Startup Markets held on 18 & 19 May, 25 &26 May, 1 & 2 June, 8 &9 June, 27 & 28 July, 3 & 4 August and 17 & 18 August in this semester. The Startups are: Bloom Food Ltd., Nutrikey, Agrona, Sweet Food, Con Agro Food, Friends & Food Ltd, Mom's Goody Foodie, Believer, Soil Gallery.The duration of the market was 10:00 am to 5:00 pm.

ASR / Art of Living at Doshaid A. K. High School & College

Daffodil International University has introduced ART of Living: motivational sessions at Colleges in allover the country as a part of Academic Social Responsibility (ASR) in the society.

ART of Living- has been designed by Mr. Md. Sabur Khan, Honorable Chairman (BoT) of Daffodil International University and Mr. Syed Mizanur Rahman, Director of Students' Affairs.

This time Daffodil International University has got the invitation from Doshaid A. K. High School & College, Ashulia. The session was conducted on 07 August, 2016 by Mr. Syed Mizanur Rahman, Co-author of ART of Living & Director of Students' Affairs, and Mr Ejaj Ur Rahaman, Lecturer, Business Administration and Assistant Director, Students' Affairs, DIU.

Around 200 Students from Doshaid A. K. High School & College attended the session. Professor Nasiruddin, Principal of the College and a good number of teachers also attended the session.

ASR / Art of Living Session at Giasuddin Islamic Model School & College

A team of Art of Living (AOL) was invited in Giasuddin Islamic Model School & College, Siddhirgonj, Narayangonj on July 31, 2016 for conducting a motivational session on ART OF LIVING. Director of Students’ Affairs and Co-author of the book ‘Art of Living,’ Mr. Syed Mizanur Rahman conducted the session. A student from Computer Science and Engineering department Syed Moniruzzaman bridged between the two educational institutions to coordinate the session.
Over 300 students of the college participated the session. They gave their feedback through evaluation form to the AOL team. They were satisfied with the session, they wrote.

FUTURE PLAN OF ACTIONS:
1.   Giasuddin Islamic Model School & College Authority will organize 2nd session by next 4 months to cover rest of the students.
2.   We, from Daffodil International University, will coordinate them through Facebook group and regular communication. We are going to create a database of the participants and then share it to the concern persons. After one year, our team will visit the college again for follow-up.

Fair and Events / ART of Parents Day

As an essential part of Art of Living course, a session with Parents titled “Art of Parents Day” held at DIU Auditorium, Daffodil Tower-5 on 1 and 2 April, 2016. Daffodil International University celebrated the triangular relationship of Parents-Students-Teachers in the ART of Parents Day in two days long sessions of 24 Sections from different departments. The whole session was conducted by Office of the Director of Students’ Affairs.

In this session Parents and Students have shared their thoughts and emotions. Parents throughout this session appreciated DIU authority that they have organized such great moments where everyone shared their feelings and got the opportunity to meet the higher authorities of DIU and spend some times with them in an intimate environment. This day helped every parents, children and teachers to know each other very well, to know what they want from each other. 

In the first session, Mr. Md. Sabur Khan, Chairman (BoT) of DIU & Co-author of Art of Living and Brig. General (Retd.) Mirza Baker Sarwar Ahmed, former President of ISSB attended the session to share and inspire the triangle relationship of Parents-Students-Teachers. Professor Dr. Engr. A. K. M. Fazlul Hoque, Registrar of DIU attended the second slot where in the third and fourth slot Md. Masum Ahmed, Upazilla Nirbahi Officer (UNO) of Mirzapur, Tangail, Professor A. M.M. Hamidur Rahman, Dean, Faculty of Humanities and Social Science, Mr. Mohammed Masum Iqbal, Head of Business Administration, Mr. Masud Ibn Rahman, Associate Professor of Business Administration were celebrated Parents Day. The whole session was conducted by Mr. Syed Mizanur Rahman, Director, Students' Affairs.
Students from this session promised that they will never send their parents to the Old Age Homes, whereas they will nurture their Parents-children relationships and give endless love to their parents.

Events of DIU / WE CAN-Daffodil Apps Fellowship 2016

Dhaka Residential Model College (DRMC) became the Champion whereas North South University became 1st Runner Up & Dhaka University achieved 2nd Runner Up at the Grand Finale of WE CAN – Daffodil Apps Fellowship 2016 held today on March 31, 2016 at Daffodil International University Auditorium. Aiming to raise awareness among youths and engage them in the movement to prevent violence against women, Amrai Pari Paribarik Nirjaton Protirodh Jote (WE CAN, Bangladesh) and Daffodil International University (DIU) jointly has planned for this fellowship program for some young talented groups of the country who would develop an apps on women rights issue and stand beside the society as a Change Maker.
Architect Yeafesh Osman, Honorable Minister, Ministry of Science and Technology was present at the Grand Finale as the Chief Guest and distributed prizes among the winners. Advocate Sultana Kamal, Chairperson, WE CAN, Bangladesh delivered the welcome address in the program while Mr. Md. Sabur Khan, Chairman, Board of Trustees, Daffodil International University presided over the program.

'WE CAN-Daffodil Apps Fellowship 2016' is designed to encourage people to share the ideas for developing apps on violence against women, Women rights etc. You can submit your ideas or apps . While preparing the idea you must also explain how it will benefit Amrai Pari Jote ( WE CAN Alliance) as well as the whole society.
Submissions must be original and solely owned by the participant.

We are looking for some talented young groups who will take on the challenge to share Ideas and develop an App on Women Rights issues as well as stand beside us as Change Makers through 'WE CAN- Daffodil Apps Fellowship 2016' organized by WE CAN and hosted by Daffodil International University.
