Narrated Abu Huraira:

Once the Prophet entered the mosque, a man came in, offered the prayer and greeted the Prophet. The Prophet returned his greeting and said to him, "Go back and pray again for you have not prayed." The man offered the prayer again, came back and greeted the Prophet. He said to him thrice, "Go back and pray again for you have not prayed." The man said, "By Him Who has sent you with the truth! I do not know a better way of praying. Kindly teach Me how to pray." He said, "When you stand for the prayer, say Takbir and then recite from the Qur'an what you know and then bow with calmness till you feel at ease, then rise from bowing till you stand straight. Afterwards prostrate calmly till you feel at ease and then raise (your head) and sit with Calmness till you feel at ease and then prostrate with calmness till you feel at ease in prostration and do the same in the whole of your prayer."

আবূ হুরায়রা (রা.) থেকে বর্ণিত, একসময়ে নবী (সাঃ) মসজিদে তাশরীফ আনলেন, তখন এক ব্যক্তি মসজিদে প্রবেশ করে সালাত আদায় করলো। তারপর সে নবী (সাঃ) কে সালাম করলো। নবী (সাঃ) তার সালামের জবাব দিয়ে বললেনঃ তুমি ফিরে গিয়ে সালাত আদায় কর, কেননা, তুমি সালাত আদয় করনি। লোকটি আবার সালাত আদায় করল এবং পুনরায় এসে নবী (সাঃ কে সালাম দিল। তিনি বললেনঃ আবার গিয়ে সালাত আদায় কর, কেননা, তুমি সালাত আদয় করনি। এভাবে তিনবার ঘটনার পূনরাবৃত্তি। তারপর লোকটি বলল, সে মহান সত্তার শপথ! যিনি আপনাকে সত্যসহ প্রেরণ করেছেন, আমি এর চেয়ে সুন্দর সালাত আদায় করতে জানিনা। কাজেই, আপনি আমাকে শিখিয়ে দিন। তখন বললেনঃ যখন তুমি সালাতে দাঁড়াবে, তখন তাকবীর বলবে। তারপর কুআন থেকে যতটুকু তোমার পক্ষে সহজ ততটুকু পড়বে। এরপর রুকূ’তে যাবে এবং ধীরস্থিরভাবে রুকূ’ আদায় করবে। তারপর রুকূ’ থেকে উঠে সোজা হয়ে দাঁড়াবে। ধীরস্থিরভাবে সিজদা করবে। এরপর সিজদা থেকে উঠে স্থিরভাবে বসবে এবং পুনরায় সিজদায় গিয়ে স্থিরভাবে সিজদা করবে। তারপর পূর্ণ সালাত এভাবে আদায় করবে।

Narrated Zaid binWahb:

Hudhaifa saw a person who was not performing the bowing and prostrations perfectly. He said to him, "You have not prayed and if you should die you would die on a religion other than that of Muhammad."

যায়িদ ইবন ওয়াহব (র.) থেকে বর্ণিত, তিনি বলেন, হুযাইফা (রা.) এক ব্যক্তিকে দেখলেন যে, সে রুকূ’ ও সিজদা ঠিকমত আদায় করছে না। তিনি বললেন, তোমার সালাত হয়নি। যদি তুমি (এই অবস্থায়) মারা যাও, তা হলে আল্লাহ্ কর্তৃক মুহাম্মদ (সাঃ) কে প্রদত্ত আদর্শ হতে বিচ্যূত অবস্থায় তুমি মারা যাবে।

Narrated Imran bin Husain:

I offered the prayer with 'Ali in Basra and he made us remember the prayer which we used to pray with Allah's Apostle. 'Ali said Takbir on each rising and bowing.

ইমরান ইবন হুসাইন (রা.) থেকে বর্ণিত, তিনি বসরায় আলী (রা.) এর সঙ্গে সালাত আদায় করলেন। তারপর বললেন, ইনি (আলী (রা.) আমাকে রাসূলুল্লাহ্ (সাঃ) এর সঙ্গে আদায়কৃত সালাতের কথা স্মরণ করিয়ে দিয়েছেন। আর তিনি উল্লেখ করেন যে, নবী (সাঃ) প্রতিবার (মাথা) উঠাতে ও নামাতে তাকবীর বলতেন।

Narrated Abu Huraira:

The Prophet said, "Say Amin" when the Imam says it and if the Amin of any one of you coincides with that of the angels then all his past sins will be forgiven." Ibn Shihab said, "Allah's Apostle used to Say "Amin."

আবূ হুরায়রা (রা.) বর্ণিত যে, রাসূলুল্লাহ (সাঃ) বলেছেনঃ ইমাম যখন ‘আমীন’ বলেন, তখন তোমারও ‘আমীন’ বলো। কেননা, যারা ‘আমীন’ (বলা) ও ফিরিশতাদের ‘আমীন’ (বলা) এক হয়, তার পূর্বের সব গুনাহ মা’ফ করে দেওয়া হয়। ইবন শিহাব (র.) বলেন, রাসূলুল্লাহ্ (সাঃ) ও ‘আমীন’ বলতেন।

Narrated Ibn 'Abbas:

The Prophet recited aloud in the prayers in which he was ordered to do so and quietly in the prayers in which he was ordered to do so. "And your Lord is not forgetful." "Verily there was a good example for you in the ways of the Prophet."

ইবন আব্বাস (রা.) থেকে বর্ণিত, তিনি বলেন, নবী (সাঃ) যেখানে কিরাআত পড়ার জন্য নির্দেশ পেয়েছেন, সেখানে পড়েছেন। আর যেখানে চুপ করতে থাকতে নির্দেশ পেয়েছেন সেখানে চুপ করে থেকেছেন। (আল্লাহ্ তা’আলার বাণী) “নিশ্চয় তোমাদের জন্য রাসূলুল্লাহ (সাঃ) এর মধ্যে উত্তম আদর্শ।”

Narrated Abu Huraira:

The Qur'an is recited in every prayer and in those prayers in which Allah's Apostle recited aloud for us, we recite aloud in the same prayers for you; and the prayers in which the Prophet recited quietly, we recite quietly. If you recite "Al-Fatiha" only it is sufficient but if you recite something else in addition, it is better.

আবূ হুরায়রা (রা.) থেকে বর্ণিত, তিনি বলেন, প্রত্যেক সালাতেই কিরাআত পড়া হয়। তবে যে সব সালাত রাসূলুল্লাহ্ (সাঃ) আমাদের শুনিয়ে পড়েছেন, আমরাও তোমাদের শুনিয়ে পড়ব। আর যে সব সালাতে আমাদের না শুনিয়ে পড়েছেন, আমরাও তোমাদের না শুনিয়ে পড়ব। যদি তোমরা সূরা ফাতিহার চাইতে বেশী না পড়, সালাত আদায় হয়ে যাবে। আর যদি বেশী পড় তা উত্তম।

Narrated Saiyar bin Salama:

My father and I went to Abu Barza-al-Aslami to ask him about the stated times for the prayers. He replied, "The Prophet used to offer the Zuhr prayer when the sun just declined from its highest position at noon; the 'Asr at a time when if a man went to the farthest place in Medina (after praying) he would find the sun still hot (bright). (The sub narrator said: I have forgotten what Abu Barza said about the Maghrib prayer). The Prophet never found any harm in delaying the 'Isha' prayer to the first third of the night and he never liked to sleep before it and to talk after it. He used to offer the morning prayer at a time when after finishing it one could recognize the person sitting beside him and used to recite between 60 to 100 verses in one or both the Rakat."

সাইয়ার ইবন সালামা (রা.) থেকে বর্ণিত, তিনি বলেন, আমি ও আমার পিতা আবূ বারযা আসলামী (রা.) নিকট উপস্থিত হয়ে সালাতসমূহের সময় সম্পর্কে জিজ্ঞাসা করলাম। তিনি বললেন, নবী (সাঃ) যুহরের সালাত সূর্য ঢলে গেলেই আদায় করতেন। আর আসর (এমন সময় যে, সালাতের শেষে) কোন ব্যক্তি সজীব থঅকতে থাকতেই মদীনার প্রান্ত সীমায় ফিরে আসতে পারত। মাগরিব সম্পর্কে তিনি কি বলেছিলেন, তা আমি ভুলে গেছি। আর তিনি ইশা রাতের তৃতীয়াংশ পর্যন্ত বিলম্ব করতে কোন দ্বিধা করতেন না। এবং ইশার আগে ঘুমানো ও পরে কথাবার্তা বলা তিনি পসন্দ করতেন না। আর তিনি ফজর আদায় করতেন এমন সময় যে, সালাত শেষে ফিরে যেতে লোকেরা তার পার্শ্ববর্তী ব্যক্তিকে চিনতে পারত। এর দু’রাকাআতে অথবা রাবী বলেছেন, এক রাকাআতে তিনি ষাট থেকে একশ’ আয়াত পড়তেন।

Narrated 'Ubada bin As-Samit:

Allah's Apostle said, "Whoever does not recite Al-Fatiha in his prayer, his prayer is invalid."

উবাদা ইবন সামিত (রা.) থেকে বর্ণিত যে, রাসূলুল্লাহ (সাঃ) বলেছেনঃ যে ব্যক্তি সালাতে সূরা ফাতিহা পড়ল না তার নামায হল না।

Narrated 'Aisha:

I asked Allah's Apostle about looking hither and thither in prayer. He replied, "It is a way of stealing by which Satan takes away (a portion) from the prayer of a person."

আয়িশা (রা.) থেকে বর্ণিত, তিনি বলেন, আমি রাসূলুল্লাহ্ (সাঃ)-কে সালাতে এদিক ওদিক তাকানো সম্পর্কে জিজ্ঞাসা করলাম। তিনি বললেনঃ এটা এক ধরণের ছিনতাই, যার মাধ্যমে শয়তান বান্দার সালাত থেকে অংশ বিশেষ কেড়ে নেয়।

Narrated Anas bin Malik:

The Prophet said, "What is wrong with those people who look towards the sky during the prayer?" His talk grew stern while delivering this speech and he said, "They should stop (looking towards the sky during the prayer); otherwise their eye-sight would be taken away."

 আনাস ইবন মালিক (রা.) থেকে বর্ণিত, তিনি বলেন, নবী (সাঃ) বলেছেনঃ লোকদের কি হল যে, তারা সালাতে আকাশের দিকে চোখ তুলে তাকায়? এ ব্যাপারে তিনি কঠোর বক্তব্য রাখলেন; এমনকি তিনি বললেনঃ যেন তারা অবশ্যই এ থেকে বিরত থাকে, অন্যথায় অবশ্যই তাদের দৃষ্টিশক্তি কেড়ে নেওয়া হবে।

Narrated 'Abdullah bin 'Abbas:

Once solar eclipse occurred during the lifetime of Allah's Apostle. He offered the eclipse prayer. His companions asked, "O Allah's Apostle! We saw you trying to take something while standing at your place and then we saw you retreating." The Prophet said, "I was shown Paradise and wanted to have a bunch of fruit from it. Had I taken it, you would have eaten from it as long as the world remains."

আবদুল্লাহ্ ইবন আব্বাস (রা.) থেকে বর্ণিত, তিনি বলেন, নবী (সাঃ)-এর যুগে একবার সূর্যগ্রহণ হয়েছিল। তখন তিনি এজন্য সালাত আদায় করেন। সাহাবা-ই-কিরাম (রা.) জিজ্ঞাসা করলেন, ইয়া রাসূলাল্লাহ! সালাতে দাঁড়ানো অবস্থায় আপনাকে দেখলাম যেন কিছু একটা ধরতে যাচ্ছিলেন, কিন্তু পরে দেখলাম, আবার পিছিয়ে এলেন। তিনি বললেন, আমাকে জান্নাত দেখানো হয় এবং তারই একটি আঙ্গুরের ছড়া নিতে যাচ্ছিলাম। আমি যদি তা নিয়ে আসতাম, তা হলে দুনিয়ার স্থায়িত্বকাল পর্যন্ত তোমরা তা থেকে খেতে পারতে।

Narrated Asma' bint Abi Bakr:

The Prophet once offered the eclipse prayer. He stood for a long time and then did a prolonged bowing. He stood up straight again and kept on standing for a long time, then bowed a long bowing and then stood up straight and then prostrated a prolonged prostration and then lifted his head and prostrated a prolonged prostration. And then he stood up for a long time and then did a prolonged bowing and then stood up straight again and kept on standing for a long time. Then he bowed a long bowing and then stood up straight and then prostrated a prolonged prostration and then lifted his head and went for a prolonged prostration. On completion o the prayer, he said, "Paradise became s near to me that if I had dared, I would have plucked one of its bunches for you and Hell became so near to me that said, 'O my Lord will I be among those people?' Then suddenly I saw a woman and a cat was lacerating her with it claws. On inquiring, it was said that the woman had imprisoned the cat till it died of starvation and she neither fed it no freed it so that it could feed itself."

আসমা বিনত্ আবূ বকর (রা.) থেকে বর্ণিত যে, নবী (সাঃ) একবার সালাতুল কুসূফ (সূর্য গ্রহণের সালাত) আদায় করলেন। তিনি সালাতে দীর্ঘক্ষণ দাঁড়িয়ে থাকলেন। তারপর রুকূ’তে গেলেন এবং দীর্ঘক্ষণ থাকলেন। তারপর দাঁড়ালেন এবং দীর্ঘক্ষণ দাঁড়িয়ে থাকলেন। তারপর আবার রুকূ’তে গেলেন এবং দীর্ঘক্ষণ রুকূ’তে থাকলেন। এরপর উঠলেন, পরে সিজদায় গেলেন এবং দীর্ঘক্ষণ সিজদায় থাকলেন। এরপর আবার দাঁড়ালেন এবং দীর্ঘক্ষণ দাঁড়িয়ে থাকলেন। আবার রুকূ’তে গেলেন এবং দীর্ঘক্ষণ রুকূ’তে দীর্ঘক্ষণ রুকূ’তে থাকলেন। এরপর রুকূ’ থেকে উঠে সিজদায় গেলেন এবং দীর্ঘক্ষণ সিজদায় থাকলেন। তারপর উঠে সিজদায় গেলেন এবং দীর্ঘক্ষণ সিজদায় থাকলেন। এরপর সালাত শেষ করে ফিরে দাঁড়িয়ে বললেনঃ জান্নাত আমার খুবেই নিকটে এসে গিয়েছিল এমনকি আমি যদি চেষ্টা করতাম তা হলে জান্নাতের একগুচ্ছ আঙ্গুর তোমাদের এনে দিতে পারতাম। আর জাহান্নামও আমার একেবারে নিকটবর্তী হয়ে গিয়েছিল। এমনকি আমি বলে উঠলাম, ইয়া রব! আমিও কি তাদের সাথে? আমি একজন স্ত্রী লোককে দেখতে পেলাম। আবূ হুরায়রা (রা.) বলেন, আমার মনে হয়, তিনি বলেছিলেন, একটি বিড়াল তাকে খামচাচ্ছে। আমি জিজ্ঞাসা করলাম, এ স্ত্রী লোকটির এমন অবস্থা কেন? ফিরিশতাগণ জবাব দিলেন, সে একটি বিড়ালকে আটকিয়ে রেখেছিল, ফলে বিড়ালটি অনাহারে মারা যায়। উক্ত স্ত্রী লোকটি তাকে খেতেও দেয়নি এবং ছেড়েও দেয়নি, যাতে সে আহার করতে পারে।

Narrated Abu Huraira:

Allah's Apostle used to keep silent between the Takbir and the recitation of Qur'an and that interval of silence used to be a short one. I said to the Prophet "May my parents be sacrificed for you! What do you say in the pause between Takbir and recitation?" The Prophet said, "I say, 'Allahumma, ba'id baini wa baina khatayaya kama ba'adta baina-l-mashriqi wa-l-maghrib. Allahumma, naqqim min khatayaya kama yunaqqa-ththawbu-l-abyadu mina-ddanas. Allahumma, ighsil khatayaya bil-ma'i wa-th-thalji wal-barad (O Allah! Set me apart from my sins (faults) as the East and West are set apart from each other and clean me from sins as a white garment is cleaned of dirt (after thorough washing). O Allah! Wash off my sins with water, snow and hail.)"

আবূ হুরায়রা (রা.) থেকে বর্ণিত, তিনি বলেন, রাসূলুল্লাহ (সাঃ) তাকবীরে ও কিরাআতের মধ্যে কিছুক্ষণ চুপ করে থাকতেন। আমি বললাম, ইয়া রাসূলুল্লাহ্! আমার মাতাপিতা আপনার উপর কুরবান হোক, তাকবীর ও কিরাআত এর মধ্যে চুপ থাকার সময় আপনি কী পাঠ করে থাকেন? তিনি বললেনঃ এ সময় আমি বলি – ইয়া আল্লাহ্! আপনি মাশরিক ও মাগরিবের মধ্যে যেরূপ দুরত্ব সৃষ্টি করেছেন, আমার ও আমার ত্রুটি-বিচ্যুতির মধ্যে ঠিক তদ্রুপ দূরত্ব সৃষ্টি করে দিন। ইয়া আল্লাহ! শুভ্র বস্ত্রকে যেরূপ নিমল করা হয় আমাকেও সেরূপ পাক-সাফ করুন। আমার অপরাধসমূহ পানি, বরফ ও হিমশিলা দ্বারা বিধৌত করে দিন।
