Awareness Program to Observe “World Mental Health Day-2018”

The World Health Organization (WHO) observes “World Mental Health Day” on 10 October every year, with the overall objective of raising awareness of mental health issues around the world and mobilizing efforts in support of mental health. The theme of this year is “Young People and Mental Health in a Changing World”. The Psychological services of Students’ Affairs is planning to organize mental health awareness seminar by focusing on this year’s theme as well as other aspects of mental health.

Time: 3 pm to 5 pm
Key Speaker: Mahjabeen Haque,  
Associate Professor & Chairperson
Department of Educational and Counselling Psychology, University of Dhaka.
Objective: To promote mental health awareness among young people.
Activity: Awareness speech and open discussion about mental health.
Outcome:
Develop an understanding about mental health.
Understand the impact of stigma on people of mental health problems.
Explore one’s own attitudes toward mental health.
Dispel myths about mental health illness.
reduce stigma and discrimination against those with mental illnesses
Introduce psychological services of DIU.
