Clothing industry and garment industry are two terms we are using interchangeably. but note that a textile graduates or being a part of this sector, one should make himself/herself clear on two terms:
clothing industry/apparel industry
garments industry.
let focus on this issue.

Apu sir please let us inform the matter clearly.
thanks,

clothing or apparel is a body covering sheet made of cloth (could be woven or knitted), but a garments is also body covering sheet but could be made of textile/cloth, leather, made made polymer sheet.

a tee shirt
a shoe
a wait belt
a wallet
a goggle
a leather jacket
and then try to categorize them
apparel is a branch of garment,
if you are still confuse to recognize the similarities and dissimilarities, then you are requested to ....

I have a little bit controversy with Apu Sir!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
There is a difference between Clothing & Apparel. But you define the two terms as same.
-
Dear Tanvir,
As far as i know there is no difference between two terms apparel and clothing. but are bearing same meaning. and as far i realize from reading articles and news from America and Europe that Europe use clothing terms more intensively while American use apparel terms for the same meaning.

Thanks AAA, its a good info......
-
Dear Apu Sir,
Its true that in Europe clothing term is used more intensively while in America apparel term is used.
But
"Apparel" can also include things like nametags, jewelry or other stuff we wear. "Clothing" tends to refer to stuff traditionally made from cloth
