Profile of Chairman of square group:
Mr. Samson H Chowdhury was born on 25 February, 1926. After completing education in India he returned to the then East Pakistan and settled at Ataikula village in Pabna district where his father was working as a Medical Officer in an outdoor dispensary. In 1952, he started a small pharmacy in Ataikula village which is about 160 km off capital Dhaka in the north-west part of Bangladesh. Mr. Samson H Chowdhury then ventured into a partnership pharmaceutical company with three of his friends in 1958.

The Major General was Mr. Amjad Khan Chowdhury the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of PRAN-RFL Group. PRAN stands for Programmed for Rural Advancement Nationally and has become Bangladesh’s largest grower and processor of fruits and vegetables. For Mr. Chowdhury, now a leading businessman, the beginning was far from smooth. He tried his luck in different sectors ranging from real estate to manufacturing of foundry items, after retiring from Bangladesh Army in 1981. But none of them paid him the best In 1985, Mr. Chowdhury, leased six acres of land in Narsingdhi, east of Dhaka to serve farmers and market its Farm produce. Initially, the company cultivated papaya, banana, and pineapple.

Dr. Muhammad Yunus was born in 28 June 1940. He is a Bangladeshi banker, economist and Nobel Peace Prize recipient. He previously was a professor of economics where he developed the concepts of microcredit and microfinance. These loans are given to entrepreneurs too poor to qualify for traditional bank loans. In 2006 Yunus and Grameen received the Nobel Peace Prize "for their efforts through microcredit to create economic and social development from below Yunus himself has received several other national and international honors. He is a member of advisory board at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology. Previously, he was a professor of economics at Chittagong University where he developed the concepts of microcredit and microfinance.
