After graduation from Jahangirnagar University, Md. Sabur Khan[1] entered the business world, specializing in education and IT, and established the Daffodil Group.[2] He has had various positions heading and running the Daffodil Group as it changed and expanded over the years. In connection to his business, he has held membership and leadership in various Chambers of Commerce and business owners' groups. Additionally, he has worked with international committees to expand the roles of cooperation between governments and to improve Bangladesh's business ties with other countries in Asia and Europe.

He worked as director of the Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI),[3] immediate Past President of the Bangladesh Computer Samity (BCS),[4] Member of Prime Minister ICT Task Force,[5]BASIS,[6] BCS Computer City (IDB) founding,[7] Student leader during his University life, etc. He has lot of other representations in various Social, Cultural and Business organizations. In recognition to his outstanding service towards the nation, he already has attained awards, rewards and Gold medals above 100 from various national & international organizations.

A Successful Businessman

While he started small in the computer industry, beginning with desktop publishing, computer training and importing computers. Currently he owns and manages the Daffodil Computers Ltd. He has expanded business connections between Bangladesh and other countries. Other projects include collaborating with the Bangladesh government on the Computerized Seat Reservation and Ticketing Project for Bangladesh Railway from 2001 to 2007.

As the BCS President

In 2002, he was elected President of Bangladesh Computer Samity (BCS); he had been the Joint Secretary in 1996-97. He established BCS's new offices, organized the 2002 BCS Fair and expanded it into its current size and facility. BCS joined the World Information Technology and Services Alliance (WITSA), participated in the Asian-Oceanian Computing Industry Organization (ASOCIO) [8] events.
He represented BCS at the WITSA Conference, Adelaide, Australia, in 2002. He represented the company at WCIT in 2003. Mr. Khan helped establish the Ministry of Science and ICT, in 2002. Khan led the BCS team in a campaign to withdraw the VAT to the IT field, imposed by Parliament in 1996-97 and in 2002. He enlisted 30 people for a free scholarship from the Association for Overseas Technical Scholarship (AOTS), Japan in 2003.

ITC EMDS team member

ITC[9]/UNCTAD[10]/WTO[11] appointed him as their national representative of EMDS/ITC/UNCTAD through ECI in May 2004 where he joined with ITC EMDS team & participated to the Geneva E-Bridge Network, later on, in Philippine 2005, in Egypt in 2007, and so on.

In 2012, the Trade Bridge seminar was held from June 4 to June 12, 2012 in Istanbul. Khan represented the Bangladesh Delegation team. This Bridge[12] is one of the largest gatherings of World Business L name="_GoBack"aders. About 140 countries of the world participated in this world Trade Bridge[13][14][15]. Every year, the Turkish Confederation of Businessmen and Industrialists (TUSKON) with the support of Prime Minister, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Turkish Exporters Assembly, Istanbul Chamber of Commerce, and Istanbul Export Center hold “Turkey World Trade Bridge” seminar since 2005. This year about 20 Bangladeshi Businessmen from different prominent companies and government high officials of Bangladesh Delegation were teamed up by Turkey Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (TBCCI).

According to Mr. Khan, to open a new horizon of economic ties between these two countries, business communities should look forward. In fact, Bangladesh can be an attractive investment destination for Turkish investor to invest, while Turkey can be a proper source for agricultural products, machineries & technology for Bangladeshi business community. Bangladesh has comparative advantages for foreign direct investments over its neighbors China & India due to manifold facts.
