Timely post. Thank you, Sir.

I support Italy.

National Flag of Bangladesh

National Flag Like all other nations Bangladesh also follows approved rules as regards size, design, colour of the national flag and manner of hoisting the flag. According to flag rules (1972), the National Flag will be in bottle green and rectangular in size in the proportion of 10:6, with a red circle in the middle. The red circle will have a radius of one-fifth of the length of the flag. Its centre will be placed on the intersecting point of the perpendicular drawn from the nine-twentieth part of the length of the flag, and the horizontal line drawn through the middle of its width.

The green base of the flag will be of Procion Brilliant Green H-2RS 50 parts per 1000. The red circular part will be of Procion Brilliant Orange H-2RS 60 parts per 1000. Depending on the size of the building the flag sizes will be 10´ x 6´; 5´ x 3´; 2½´ x 1½´. The size of the flag for car is 12½" x 7 ½", and the size of the table flag for bilateral conferences is 10" x 6". Initially the flag had the map of Bangladesh in the centre, which was withdrawn later. The mujibnagar government adopted the pattern of the flag unfurled by the student leaders in the Dhaka University on 2 March 1971.

Occasions to hoist national flag The Bangladesh flag has to be flown on public and private buildings throughout the country and the offices and premises of Bangladesh diplomatic missions and consulates on Independence Day, Victory Day Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi, and any other day as may be notified by the government. The National Flag shall be flown at half-mast on the Shaheed Day (21 February) and any other day notified by the government.

Hoisting flag abroad The National Flag shall be flown over Bangladesh diplomatic missions and consular posts in foreign countries in accordance with the custom of the country in which the Bangladesh mission is situated.

Flying the flag on public buildings, official residences, motor cars, etc The Bangladesh Flag shall be flown on all working days on important government buildings and offices, i.e. the President's House, Prime Minister's House, Jatiya Sangsad Building, etc. All ministries and the secretariat building, offices of the high court, courts of district and session judges, offices of the commissioners of divisions, deputy commissioners/ collectors, upazila parishad offices, central and district jails, police stations, customs posts and such other buildings as may be notified by the government from time to time. Bangladesh chancery and embassy residence in a foreign country will also fly National Flag. The flag shall be flown atop the official residences of the President, Prime Minister, Chief Justice of Bangladesh, Speaker and Deputy Speaker of Jatiya Sangsad, cabinet ministers, chief whip, Leader of the Opposition in Sangsad, head of diplomatic missions in foreign countries. All of them are entitled to fly flag on their motor cars. There are detailed rules as to the showing honour to flag and protocol to maintain.

Rule of Hoisting the Flag of a Foreign country in a host country:

There are few rules regarding positioning, hoisting and maintaining the dignity of the flag. The 'Flag' should be flown only from sunrise to sunset except on cars, vessels and airplanes, provided that the 'Flag' may be flown at night on buildings on special occasions, such as the night session of the Parliament or the swearing-in-ceremony of the President or of Cabinet Ministers. There should nothing be written or imprinted on the 'Flag' nor should any mark be made on it on ceremonial or any other occasion.

The 'Flag' should never be dropped over the hold, topside or back of a vehicle, railway train or boat. The place of honour has to be reserved for the 'Bangladesh Flag' when flags or colours of other foreign countries accompany it. If there are only two flags or colours the 'Bangladesh Flag' shall be flown at the right of the building. When the number of flags is more than two the 'Bangladesh Flag' shall be placed at the centre and if the number of flags is odd; it shall be flown as the first to the right of the center. No other flag or colour can be flown above the 'Bangladesh Flag'.

When the flag of any other country is flown together with the 'Bangladesh Flag', the latter should be hoisted first and lowered last. The flags when flown at half-mast should first be hoisted to the peak and then lowered to the half-mast position. The 'Bangladesh Flag' should again be raised to the peak before it is lowered for the day. The 'Bangladesh Flag' should never be carried flat or horizontally but always aloft and free. The 'Bangladesh Flag' should not be hoisted, displayed, used, stored in such a manner as will permit it to be easily torn, soiled or damaged in any way. The 'Bangladesh Flag' shall be hoisted briskly and lowered ceremoniously.

It is unfortunate that though we are citizens of this country, most of us do not know the proper rules in order to show the due respect to our National Flag. We must not forget that the Bangladesh Flag was earned in exchange of so many lives, so much of tears and blood. It must be given the veneration it deserves.

I want to see Brazil Vs. Argentina in the final. I personally second Brazil but i was a fan of Maradona when he played in the Italian club Nepoli. He brought European championships three times for Nepoli. On the other hand, i still remember Zico (White Pele), Socrates, Junior, Alemao, Falcow, n others when they were the members of Brazil dream team in 1982 and 1986.

It must be fascinating if your wish comes true.

I assume, there must be a balancing statistic support between Argentina & Brazil in Bangladesh.

Almost every official encounter between Brazil and Argentina has ended in an Argentine victory, in the last 4 WC qualifying games in recent memory, Argentina has won 3. I remember 1997, 2001 and 2005.

What will happen in a semi-final or final between Argentina and Brazil?

head to head (official only):
WC 2006 Qualy 1. Brazil (H) won 3-1 / 2. Arg (H) won 3-1
WC 2002 Qualy 1. Brazil (H) won 3-1 / 2. Arg (H) won 2-1
WC 1998 Brazil didnt play Qualy
WC 1994 Qualy Brazil and Argentina didnt play each other (different group)

Copa America:
Brazil has won all but 1 in the last 4 editions and in the last one has beaten Argentina in the Final in a penalty shootout (1-1). Cant remember any other game except one in which they drew and Bazil won by penatlies (think its a QF or SF in 1999 -the night of the infamous Tulio handball).

The last Confederations Cup, Brazil gave Argentina a 4-1 thumping.

The 1997 game was a pre-WC friendly in Maracana. Argentina won 1-0.

So, what is going to happen in this WC...!?!
