Google is blocking links to the Bangladesh telecoms regulator, after its routine scanning of the website for inclusion in its search results found malware being hosted on the regulator's own website.
If you attempt to visit the BTRCs website via a link from the Google search results, then you are taken to a warning page instead warning of the problem.
According to the warning message, of the 73 pages tested on the website over the past 90 days, 44 pages resulted in malicious software being downloaded and installed without user consent. The last time Google visited the website was on 17th May, and the last time suspicious content was found on this site was on 14th May.
Attempts to visit the website directly without using Google, using a standard set-up Firefox web browser also flagged up a warning message, although that data is based on the Google reporting system.
Google offers a free monitoring service for the owners of websites, and it usually fires off emails to the registered email addresses warning the website owner that there are problems before it blocks the website entirely.
