NBFIs asked to submit reports on CSR, gender equality performance

The central bank has asked the non-banking financial institutions (NBFIs) to submit statements on their corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities and gender equality related performance indicators to Green Banking and CSR Department (GBCSRD), sources said.

Besides, the Bangladesh Bank (BB) also directed the NBFIs to keep update their annual reports and websites with disclosures of CSR activities.

The BB sent a circular to the chief executive officers (CEO) in this connection recently.

As per earlier circular, financial Institutions are required to submit a statement on CSR and a report on gender equality-related performance indicators on half-yearly basis, the circular said.

Now, financial institutions have been advised to submit the statements to the GBCSRD instead of the Department of Financial Institutions and Markets.

Moreover, correspondences related to CSR have to be made with the GBCSRD, the circular also said.

In addition to this, the NBFIs have been advised to keep annual reports and websites updated with the disclosures on CSR activities/initiatives, the BB circular mentioned.
