Its better to have fought and lost than never to have fought at all

From birth to death, human life is a continuous struggle. In the course of our life, we come across situations time and again in which we are left two ways: Either fight through such situations or surrender before them. If we fight, we may either win or lose. We may even die in the latter case. If we do not fight, we live with shame and ignominy till death comes in the natural course. The question is: which of the two courses is preferable?

Death shall come today or two days later. The coward who trembles on his cosy bed is to die as surely as the brave soul who faces all situations with the courage of a tiger. Which kind of death should we prefer?

Life comes once which consists in deeds, not in years. The real joys of life lie in living with glory as long as we live. What does it matter if I live for a century during which I perform nothing of which I can be proud? Such a life is identical with that of an animal and never suits a human being. Human life must be purposeful, eventful and glorious. And if glory is to be earned, the dangers and difficulties that come our way must be faced bravely, for, it is in hazard and not in ease that lies the secret of earning glory. And if in the course of such fight we lose and die even, a trail of glory is left behind. Hence it is better to have fought and lost then never to have fought at all.
Those who worship the natural elements enter darkness (Air, Water, Fire, etc.). Those who worship sambhuti sink deeper in darkness. [Yajurveda 40:9]; Sambhuti means created things, for example table, chair, idol, etc.
