Tevez almost quit football over Mancini row
« on: August 08, 2013, 02:25:24 PM »
Carlos Tevez has claimed that he came close to retiring over his fall-out with Roberto Mancini at Manchester City.

Tevez, who left City for Serie A champions Juventus in June, did not play for the Premier League side for six months after refusing to play against Bayern Munich in a September 2011 UEFA Champions League tie.

The 29-year-old returned in March to help City win the Premier League title on the last day of the season.

Although the saga ended in celebration, Tevez has revealed that he considered retiring from the game during his spat with Mancini, who was sacked by City in May.

"I always said I’d retire at 28 and I was close to retiring after the fight with Roberto," Tevez said.

"I was tired as well. I spent six years in England and nobody would have given a cent for me to stay six years in England.

"I won the Champions League with Manchester United, the Premier League with United, the FA Cup with City, who hadn’t won anything for a long time, I won everything."
