We frequently visit different sites to know the different universities ranking. But hardly we visit sites for checking top ranking Subjects. Out of the curiosity, I searched some sites for top ranking subjects & found more or less same subjects in the line. Good words for law students, Law is not only the top ranking subject in the Faculty of Humanities & Social Science, rather it’s a top ranking subject among all the faculties. There is some variations in some reports but interesting to find that few subjects must be there & Law is one of them. As for example, I’m showing the subject ranking of Harvard University. The number one subject(s) of Harvard University are as follows: Accounting & finance, biological sciences, law, economics & econometrics, education, medicine, pharmacy, politics & international studies, psychology. I tell my students in the class, “The more problem we will face in the world, the more lawyers we will need in our life.”
So dear all have a look of the report on “University Subject Rankings: Top Ten Most Viewed Subjects”
University Subject Rankings: Top Ten Most Viewed Subjects

Which subject rankings will you be consulting – and is your subject one of the ten most popular?

1. MedicineTopping the list of most viewed subject rankings is medicine. This is not too surprising; not only is the medical field relatively stable in terms of appeal and industry demand, it’s also among the most competitive subject areas. Anyone planning on studying medicine at university is likely to do plenty of research beforehand – and perhaps continue checking how his/her chosen med school is faring in the international rankings!
2. Computer ScienceIn contrast to the long-established field of medicine, computer science is an academic discipline in its infancy – but it’s also among the fastest growing and most popular subjects worldwide. So its number two position here is unlikely to raise many eyebrows, especially when you consider how many roles for computer science graduates appear in lists of the world’s most desirable/fastest growing/ best paid jobs!
3. Law & Legal StudiesMuch like medicine, law is another subject area with enduring appeal and demand, as well as a reputation for being highly competitive. So again, students applying for courses in this field are likely to be among the most assiduous in researching top institutions, and also in continuing to track various law schools’ positions in the ranking.
4. Economics & EconometricsThe second social sciences subject in the list, the subject ranking for economics and econometrics is only slightly less viewed than the one for law.
5. Mechanical EngineeringThe subject rankings treat each of the four major engineering disciplines separately, and it seems the ranking for mechanical engineering is the most in demand among TopUniversities.com readers.
6. PsychologyJoining medicine from the life sciences group is psychology, which recently ranked at number five (ahead of medicine) in a list of the ten most popular degree courses in the UK. The psychology ranking’s popularity visitors to the website suggests it’s also one of the most popular degree subjects for students worldwide.
7. Electrical & Electronic EngineeringAnd the award for the second most viewed engineering ranking goes to... electrical and electronic engineering! If subjects like medicine and law have a longer established status, and computer science has the glamour of an up-and-coming discipline, then electrical and electronics engineering perhaps combines the two. Courses in the field could encompass everything from power generation to the latest smartphone.
8. MathematicsThe first natural science subject to put in an appearance is, appropriately enough, mathematics – ‘appropriately’ since it’s a core component for many of the other natural sciences, as well as many of the subjects already mentioned here.
9. PhysicsClose behind mathematics is closely related discipline physics. In recent years physics has enjoyed a surge in interest in many countries – prompting debate about whether it’s become ‘cool’ again, and if so whether this is thanks to ‘celebrity scientists’ like Professor Brian Cox and TV shows like The Big Bang Theory.
10. GeographyJust as arts and humanities students were about to despair, geography puts in an appearance – meaning all five subject areas covered in the rankings have at least one representative in the top ten most viewed.
