1. Eat a light meal full of nutrients. Your brain loves balanced foods, and eating too much makes you sleepy.

2. While working or learning sometimes it's good to take a break. The break revitalizes you and may help clear your mind to get the job done.

3. Consider exercising. Maybe not daily, but a couple times a week would do you good. It's great for the body and the mind.

4. Laugh. Laughing impacts the regions of the brain where dopamine is released, and stimulates the release of other things such as endorphins. Laughing positively impacts your blood flow, respiratory system, and all of your body systems. A little laughter can go a long way for your brain.

5. Speeding up your brain is as simple as incorporating reading a book into your schedule. Reading helps nature dust off the years of built up cobwebs.

6. Think outside the box. Stop falling into daily routines. Daily routines become so nonchalant our brains hardly have to function for us to get through our day. Switch things up, and make your brain earn its keep.

7. Pick up a hobby that you've always wanted to do but never got around to. Make it something that takes a bit of time and skill to learn. This experience will challenge your brain, and help make it far more productive.

8. Get a decent amount of sleep at night. It's impossible to say what a decent amount is, because we're all different. Some people require 6-8 hours a night; it's possible your body needs more. When you get enough sleep you'll feel more focused and motivated.

9. The human brain abides by the "use it or lose it" policy. Your brain produces a chemical called cypin that helps build nerve cells. The more cypin you have, the more nerve cells your brain will build. As you learn cypin increases, which in turn allows your brain to establish new connections. These connections allow information to travel faster. If you decide to stop using your brain it will start to gradually lose its new-found skills again.

10. Enjoy simple activities like puzzle games, crosswords, trivia, or Sudoku. Brush your teeth or comb your hair with the opposite hand. The trick is to just keep the challenges coming, and people will start to notice the subtle changes after time.
