Bangladesh's smartphone market will double in a year.

The current demand for smartphones stands at around 200,000 per month, according to retail estimates.

“The demand was at 80,000 a month in January this year, but last quarter it grew three times and is now around 200,000 a month," said Q Mobile director Mohammad Meshbah Uddin.

"We believe it will double by next November."

Q Mobile distributes Chinese Huawei's handsets in Bangladesh.

Huawei introduced its Ascend P6 smart phone in Bangladesh on Saturday.

“Huawei targets a 10 percent share of Bangladesh's smart phone market by 2014," Mesbah told a news conference, where the new product was launched.

The brand wants to be the market leader in Bangladesh by 2015, HUAWEI Bangladesh's CEO Baker Zhou said.
