The fall and winter months are the time for influenza and other respiratory virus infections that fill clinics, emergency departments, and medical offices with sick patients seeking diagnosis and treatment. Given that influenza virus infections share many signs and symptoms with infections caused by other common human respiratory viruses, including rhinovirus infection, there has been a long-standing need for tests capable of diagnosing influenza quickly and accurately.
Currently, 16 rapid influenza diagnostic tests (RIDTs) are commercially available in the United States for use in clinical settings. These RIDTs can identify the presence of influenza A or B virus antigen in respiratory specimens and display a positive or negative test result in 15 minutes or less. The advantage of these tests is that they are simple to perform and produce quick results, which can help with diagnostic and treatment decisions, such as whether to prescribe antiviral medications or withhold antibiotics.
Hope someday they will be available in bangladeh.
