Rethinking 5 courses for particular student in a semester
Shampa Iftakhar:
Our course offer has been finished. Today a student asks me if he can register 5 courses or not. He has already four courses in this semester. He wants to finish his B.A.( Hons) as early as possible. Resetting the class is a hard job as two batches march together in a single course that he prefers to take. Then the regular students always face problems for such situation. For a teacher this is also bit uncomfortable as this sort of student always creates problem at the time of quiz, presentation, midterm and final exam.
Do you think this is justified one to suggest or allow any student to register 5th course?
A.S. Rafi:
For Uttara Campus, it has become a real problem. As the number of students is limited here, so fulfilling the requirement of minimum 10 students per course becomes really difficult if the number of this type "advanced" students increases. It allows the merging of uneven batches to be continued forever and the teachers always need to compromise his/her lecture-quality for the premature students while the regular students suffer. I do recommend a little need analysis particularly for Uttara Campus and revise the "5 courses'' issue for the betterment of the department.

Good Suggestion, no doubt.

Dear Ma'm and Sir,
Both of you are hitting some important points and discussing but one things I would like to add that, in our country job market are going to much harder to hardest day by day though it's true that if someone have the quality they don't need to be afraid but from the real experiences from senior graduates any student can easily admit that as soon they can finish they can go for the battle field as possible and conquer their position and also get some times for preparing themselves to reach their goal.
Again another things it is also uncomfortable for us to take any course which is belonging in higher level to fulfill the minimum requirement of students. We are the students from Uttara Campus facing this problem from the very beginning of our student life and surely it can be accused for our suffer of study and also achieving less sGPA . Is it not also a problematic and uncomfortable issue for forcing us to take those matured courses? And because of mixing different batches student is not make a total comfortable environment for us.
But another things is all of the students can not go for the fifth course, only those student who are fulfilling the University requirement they able to take that. Though the courses are designed for Four year duration but I think the University should provide some chances for eager and illegible students. And rethinking about the mix batches for one course to fulfill the requiring number of students.
Shampa Iftakhar:
Dear Tonmoy:
Thank you.
What will you ensure your quality for the job market? Definitely, proper and accurate knowledge on a particular subject and stream can do so. Put the point into consideration that finishing courses before hand does not mean you are too much extraordinary. Rather it might put in a race not in learning.
Yes, so far as I know it is also uncomfortable to see a senior student with a much tender batch or matching batches to fulfill the requirements. What makes this problem? From a very practical point of view we are not supposed to offer a course for 4 to 6 students. At the same time authority must stop giving privilege to some extraordinary students to registered themselves for fourth or fifth courses. I do believe if someone has that potentiality, s/he can go for the fight in the battle field of job market anytime . Here comes the point " The University Requirement" . I think authority must rethink on this issue to stop mess in course offering , class-timing, exam schedule , quiz, presentation.etc etc. If everything goes in a systemic way . we need not to match the batch or no student needs to be in a rush.
For your information, I can add that now three years honors certificate is underestimated and all universities launch the Honors program for four years.
Thank you again.
