PLAGIARISM: Principles and Practice
« on: October 09, 2010, 03:42:38 PM »
Dear all,

Academic honesty is extremely important not only at your exam hall, but also at all other assessment, such as assignment, essay writing,  report writing or case analysis. Students hardly follow any standard  reference system when they made their papers.

Plagiarism means using the ideas of someone else without giving them proper credit. That someone else may be an author, critic, journalist, artist, composer, lecturer, tutor, or another student. Unintentional plagiarism can result if you don’t understand and use the acceptable scholarly methods of acknowledgement. In either case you have chance to face penalties, which can be very severe. When it is desirable, or necessary, to use other people’s material take care of include appropriate references and attribution.

All of the following are considered plagiarism:
    >Turning in someone else's work as your own
    >Copying words or ideas from someone else without giving credit
    >Failing to put a quotation in quotation marks
    >Giving incorrect information about the source of a quotation
    >Changing words but copying the sentence structure of a source without giving credit
    >Copying so many words or ideas from a source that it makes up the majority of your work, whether you give    credit or not.

Your character as a student and future business professional is defined by your actions. Student must practice a well guide to made reference for their work.

A number of Forum posts are the case of Plagiarism. Just copy from other source (website/books) and directly post to forum. I would like to request all those authors to follow the  proper guideline of reference.

Dear sir

Yes, copy and paste is a not good thing but slowly and gradually we hope to learn it. We will use the references and sources of others ideas. We should also like to know how to give references and works cited.....i think we should also need to know that........
