Now-a-days human trafficking is the most common affair in the Asian sub continent specially for Bangladesh. Before writing we have to know, what is the definition of human trafficking? Human trafficking means the illegal movement of people, typically for the purposes of forced labor or commercial sexual exploitation. According to Wikipedia, "Human trafficking is the trade of humans, most commonly for the purpose of sexual slavery, forced labor or commercial sexual exploitation for the trafficker or others". Human trafficking can occur within a country or trans-nationally. Human trafficking is a crime against the person because of the violation of the victim's rights of movement through coercion and because of their commercial exploitation.
Human trafficking incidents are making headlines these days in the Bangladesh perspective. Innocent and poor people are lured by the well organized and ruthless international gangs. In the developing countries, human trafficking is occurring most.
According to Haken, a writer who writes "Transnational crime in the developing countries" he mentioned in his book about this type of crime,"Human trafficking represented an estimated $31.6 billion of international trade per annum in 2010"
In 2013, the total annual revenue for trafficking in people was estimated to be USD 32 billion.The average cost of human trafficking victim today is USD 90 which in comparison to the Southern American slave trade in the 1800s is significantly less.
Every year thousand of people men, women and children fall into the hands of traffickers, in their own countries and aboard. Almost every country in the world is affected by the trafficking.
we noticed that last one or two years, human trafficking in Bangladesh is severe position. Bangladesh is a source and transit country for men, women and children subjected to trafficking in person, specially forced labor and prostitution. In matter of just one year, human trafficking by sea route along the Bangladesh- Myanmar coast has gone up by 61 percent. Bangladeshi persons are being trafficked , mostly to Malaysia.According to the report of UNHCR, from July 2013 to June 2014, a total of 53 thousand people went to Malaysia illegally via the Bay of Bengal. In the previous year, it was 33 thousand.
Government should campaign and encourage to resort to legal channels for migration. General people also should be careful about the ruthless and gangs
party's. We must be educated ourself about human trafficking by reading and gathering knowledge. If we suspect that someone has been trafficked we should report it to the adjacent police station.
To stop the human trafficking Govt. should take the following steps....
**** to bring human traffickers to justice.
**** to tighten border vigil.
**** to strengthen coastguard operations.
It is high time, we stood united against traffickers about this inhuman activities.
