Purpose\function of Law:
According to the School of thought: object of law is to main law and order in the country.
According to Bentham: providing the maximum happiness of the greater numbers of the community in question.
According to Holland: the highest well-being of the society.
Justice Holmes: not to punish the criminal but to prevent certain external results.
Salmond: the object of law is justice.
Hindu view: it should aim at the welfare of the people in this world also from the salvation after death.
Mohammadan view: is to discipline of soul the improvement of morals and the preservation of life property and the reputation.
Sir Abdur Rahim: the end of law is to promote the welfare of man for both life.
Roscoe Pound:
1.   To maintain the law and order in the society
2.   To maintain the status quo in the society
3.   To have the maximum freedom of a person
4.   Maximum satisfaction of the needs of the people.
