Health benefits of Coconut oil
« on: June 21, 2016, 02:08:12 PM »
I found the information about coconut oil quite interesting. So I want to share it with you.
Coconut oil is so good that everyone should consume in a daily basis. This healthy oil is extracted from the fruit of the coconut palm. It is consisted mostly of lauric acid. Coconut oil has rather firm consistency on a room temperature and has a long shelf life, which makes it a great addition to any diet.
 Better brain function
The MCTs (medium-chain triglycerides) in coconut oil provide more energy, aside from glucose that keeps the brain and nervous system in a good working order.

A study published in the journal Neurobiology of Aging has shown that the regular intake of MCTs has led to better brain function. Higher levels of ketones indicate that the body is using fat as the major source of energy, together with glucose, so the brain can function properly. The MCTs in this oil may have health benefits for memory-impaired people.

Lowers cholesterol
Several studies have found that the saturated fats in this superfood are neutral in their effect on your blood cholesterol than in meat products.
The coconut oil is packed with saturated fats that can lower your risk of heart disease and raise HDL (good) cholesterol levels. It also has high amounts of lauric and capric acids that are known to have special health benefits, such as lowering your cholesterol levels.
Coconut oil had a bad reputation for many years, until it has proven that anything that raises your cholesterol levels isn’t bad. Now we know the difference between bad and good cholesterol, we also know that this oil actually increases the level of good cholesterol levels. The cells in your body need the ‘good’ cholesterol and consuming this healthy oil is one of the best ways to do it.
Weight loss
Coconut oil contains the medium-chain triglycerides that can boost your energy, compared to other oils.
But like all edible oils, coconut oil is high in fat (12 grams of saturated fat), and calories (110) per tablespoon, so you should avoid consuming large quantities of coconut oil to maintain your healthy weight.
These medium-chain triglycerides in coconut oil digest as fast as sugar in the body. However, most of us know that a calorie is not just a calorie. While burger may contain the same number of fats and calories as coconut oil, how our body uses those calories is what accounts. It is a good idea to use organic oil to get the maximum health benefits and avoid all harmful chemicals.
Moisturizes skin
A recent study has shown that coconut oil is also good for your skin.
It can help in increasing hydration and can prevent water loss from your skin, so many use it as a skin moisturizer because it is rich in Vitamin E and has a strong antioxidant activity.
This can prevent the damage to the tissues, since oxidation causes skin aging. Coconut oil is also great when applied to the skin’s surface. It can lower the amounts of staph aureus, harmful skin germs. The anti-microbial properties of coconut oil can help people with health problems like staph infections and acne; almost all skin-related diseases. The same study has shown that this superfood can raise lipid content for people who have dry skin.
This oil relieves dandruff and heals bruises faster
One of many health benefits is that your bruises will take a much shorter time to heal. To get the most health benefits from it, you should consume it and in the same time rub it onto your bruises.
It really works, and you’ll just have to see for yourself. This oil also contains the natural anti-oxidants, making Ii it the best anti-aging moisturizer, and even more, it can help treat skin abrasions.
Nearly all deodorants that you can buy contain aluminum. This can be a big problem, especially for sensitive areas on our body. You can make your own homemade deodorant that you can prepare in only 5 minutes. And you all probably know that you should use organic coconut oil to make it.
Energy
Coconut oil contains medium chain fatty acids, meaning that they are digested more quickly. When you consume this oil, you will get energy more quickly if compared to other oils.
People who have had gall bladder removal surgery have to avoid fats, but can eat foods with medium chain fatty acids. The fatty acids can also help the thyroid gland to work properly, keeping your body more energetic.
This increases your energy levels, meaning that and you will be able to move more and have more energy throughout the day. The more active you are, you will burn more calories, resulting in losing pounds. A healthy thyroid gland also has many health benefits for your body and your general health.
Strengthens bones and fights jock itch and athlete’s foot
If you have osteoporosis, then coconut oil is the best choice for you. Several studies have found that it can increase the amount of bone and its structure.
Calcium is not the only component needed for our bones. Besides the recommended calcium intake, you can use coconut oil, because coconut oil has the same benefits. If you have jock itch, put it on the affected area.
You should use it several times daily in order to see the best results, and it would also be great to consume it on a daily basis. This oil gives you a healthy and natural alternative to using prescription drugs, so that you don’t have to ask your doctor's help.
