Narrated Ibn `Umar:
Allah's Messenger (sallallahu 'alaihi wa sallam) said, "Amongst the trees, there is a tree, the leaves of which do not fall and is like a Muslim. Tell me the name of that tree." Everybody started thinking about the trees of the desert areas. And I thought of the date-palm tree but felt shy to answer the others then asked, "What is that tree, O Allah's Messenger (sallallahu 'alaihi wa sallam) ?" He replied, "It is the date-palm tree."
কুতায়বা ইব্ন সা’ঈদ (র) ......... ইব্ন ‘উমর (রা) থেকে বর্ণিত, তিনি বলেন, রাসূলুল্লাহ্ (সা) একবার বললেনঃ গাছপালার মধ্যে এমন একটি গাছ আছে যার পাতা ঝরে না। আর তা মুসলিমের উপমা। তোমরা আমাকে বল, ‘সেটি কি গাছ?’ রাবী বলেন, তখন লোকেরা জঙ্গলের বিভিন্ন গাছ-পালার নাম চিন্তা করতে লাগল। আবদুল্লাহ্ (রা) বলেন, ‘আমার মনে হল, সেটা হবে খেজুর গাছ।’ কিন্তু আমি তা বলতে লজ্জাবোধ করছিলাম। তারপর সাহাবায়ে কিরাম (রা) বললেন, ‘ইয়া রাসূলুল্লাহ্! আপনি আমাদের বলে দিন সেটি কি গাছ? তিনি বললেনঃ তা হল খেজুর গাছ।’
