What is P/E and why investors often calculate company's P/E?

Many successful investors use P/E ratio to find out what the market is paying for a company's earnings at any given time. Any one can understand easily and calculate P/E as a company's price-per-share divided by its earnings-per-share. Let's say BATASHOE is trading at 160 taka per share in the market, for instance, and earnings came in at 8 taka a share over the year, its P/E would be 20 (160/8). That means investors are paying 20 taka for every 1 taka of the company's earnings. In this example, investors are willing to pay extra 20 taka every one taka in BATASHOE's earning. It is some point crucial to find out how much investors willing to pay a best and blue chips companies stock according to their earnings. Let's say, there are 20 blue chips companies and how much their stocks are selling at current market and how much their earnings per share that will give us to calculate P/E which could be an industry standard market paying based on company's earnings.

সূচকের নিম্নমুখী প্রবণতা অব্যাহত

দেশের প্রধান পুঁজিবাজার ঢাকা স্টক এক্সচেঞ্জে (ডিএসই) আজ রোববার দুই ঘণ্টা শেষেও সূচকের নিম্নমুখী প্রবণতা অব্যাহত রয়েছে। এই সময় পর্যন্ত লেনদেন হওয়া প্রায় সব কটি প্রতিষ্ঠানের শেয়ারের দাম কমেছে। পাশাপাশি সূচকও কমেছে বেশ।
ডিএসইর ওয়েবসাইট সূত্রে জানা যায়, আজ বেলা একটার দিকে ডিএসইর সাধারণ মূল্যসূচক গত বৃহস্পতিবারের চেয়ে ১১৮ পয়েন্ট কমে ৫,০৪৫ পয়েন্টে দাঁড়িয়েছে।
সূচকের সামান্য ঊর্ধ্বমুখী প্রবণতার মধ্য দিয়ে আজ ডিএসইতে লেনদেন শুরু হলেও ১৩ মিনিটে সূচক কমে যায় ৬৬ পয়েন্ট। আধা ঘণ্টায় কমে ৯১ পয়েন্ট। এভাবে সময়ের সঙ্গে সূচক কমার হারও বাড়তে থাকে।
দুপুর একটার দিকে ডিএসইতে মোট ২৪১টি প্রতিষ্ঠানের শেয়ার ও মিউচুয়াল ফান্ডের লেনদেন হয়েছে। এর মধ্যে দাম বেড়েছে মাত্র ১৬টির, কমেছে ২১৫টির আর অপরিবর্তিত রয়েছে ১০টি প্রতিষ্ঠানের শেয়ারের দাম। এই সময় পর্যন্ত ডিএসইতে মোট ২১৮ কোটি টাকার লেনদেন হয়েছে।
দুপুর একটার দিকে লেনদেনের শীর্ষে থাকা ১০টি প্রতিষ্ঠান হলো: গ্রামীণফোন, বেক্সিমকো, এমআই সিমেন্ট, যমুনা অয়েল, মেঘনা পেট্রোলিয়াম, স্কয়ার ফার্মা, লঙ্কাবাংলা ফিন্যান্স, জিপিএইচ ইস্পাত, ইসলামী ব্যাংক, ঢাকা ইলেকট্রিক সাপ্লাই কোম্পানি।

বাজারের স্বার্থে বাংলাদেশ ফান্ড ও এসএমএসএফ গঠন প্রয়োজন

২০১০ সালের ডিসেম্বর থেকে দেশের শেয়ারবাজারে ভয়াবহ দরপতনের ঘটনা ঘটে। এ বছরের শুরুতেও চলে এই দরপতনের ঘটনা। আর এই দরপতন ঠেকাতে পুঁজিবাজারের সঙ্গে সংশ্লিষ্ট বিভিন্ন পক্ষের তত্পরতাও চোখে পড়ে এই দীর্ঘ সময়জুড়ে। দীর্ঘ এক বছরের বেশি সময়ে বেশ কিছু পদক্ষেপ নেন সংশ্লিষ্ট ব্যক্তিরা। এর মধ্যে কিছু কিছু পদক্ষেপ বাস্তবায়িত হলেও অনেক পদক্ষেপই এখনো আলোর মুখ দেখেনি। এই পদক্ষেপগুলোর মধ্যে ছিল দুটি তহবিল গঠন। কিন্তু বাংলাদেশ ফান্ড নামে একটি তহবিল গঠনের কার্যক্রম চললেও ‘স্টক মার্কেট স্ট্যাবিলাইজেশন ফান্ড’ বা শেয়ারবাজার স্থিতিশীলকরণ তহবিলের কোনো কার্যক্রমই চোখে পড়ছে না।
বাজারের সঙ্গে সংশ্লিষ্ট ব্যক্তিরা বলছেন, আলোচিত বিভিন্ন পদক্ষেপে বিনিয়োগকারীরা আশায় বুক বাঁধেন। তবে পরে তাঁরা এ ব্যাপারে আশাহত হন।
এদিকে, বিভিন্ন পক্ষের নেওয়া পদক্ষেপগুলোর সফল বাস্তবায়ন চান বিনিয়োগকারীরা। তাঁরা বলছেন, এসব পদক্ষেপ বাস্তবায়িত হলে বিনিয়োগকারীদের মধ্যে আস্থার সঞ্চার হবে, যা বাজারের জন্য ইতিবাচক ফল বয়ে আনবে।
শেয়ারবাজারে অব্যাহত দরপতন মোকাবিলায় দুটি তহবিল গঠনের ঘোষণা দেওয়া হয়। এর মধ্যে রাষ্ট্রায়ত্ত বিনিয়োগ প্রতিষ্ঠান ইনভেস্টমেন্ট করপোরেশন অব বাংলাদেশ (আইসিবি) ‘বাংলাদেশ ফান্ড’ নামে পাঁচ হাজার কোটি টাকার একটি তহবিল গঠনের ঘোষণা দেয়। তহবিলটি গঠনে আইসিবির পাশাপাশি যোগ দেয় রাষ্ট্রায়ত্ত চার ব্যাংক সোনালী, রূপালী, অগ্রণী ও জনতা। এর পাশাপাশি ছিল রাষ্ট্রায়ত্ত বিমাপ্রতিষ্ঠান জীবন বীমা করপোরেশন, সাধারণ বীমা করপোরেশন ও বাংলাদেশ ডেভেলপমেন্ট ব্যাংক লিমিটেড (বিডিবিএল)। এরই মধ্যে তহবিলটির উদ্যোক্তারা নিজেদের অংশ সংগ্রহ সম্পন্ন করেছেন। বাংলাদেশ ফান্ডের ইউনিট বিক্রির মাধ্যমে ব্যক্তি ও প্রাতিষ্ঠানিক বিনিয়োগকারীদের কাছ থেকে তহবিল সংগ্রহের কাজও এগিয়ে চলেছে। একই সঙ্গে ওই ফান্ড থেকে বাজারে বিনিয়োগ অব্যাহত রয়েছে বলেও সংশ্লিষ্ট ব্যক্তিরা জানিয়েছেন।
এ বিষয়ে ফান্ডটির মূল উদ্যোক্তা প্রতিষ্ঠান আইসিবির ব্যবস্থাপনা পরিচালক মো. ফায়েকুজ্জামান প্রথম আলো ডটকমকে বলেন, ‘আমরা ইতিমধ্যে বাংলাদেশ ফান্ডের উদ্যোক্তা অংশের অর্থ সংগ্রহ সম্পন্ন করেছি। ব্যক্তি ও প্রাতিষ্ঠানিক বিনিয়োগকারীদের কাছ থেকে ফান্ডের ইউনিট বিক্রির মাধ্যমে অর্থ সংগ্রহ করা হচ্ছে। বিদেশে অবস্থানরত বাংলাদেশিরা যাতে এই ফান্ডে সহজে বিনিয়োগ করতে পারেন, সে ব্যাপারে প্রয়োজনীয় পদক্ষেপ নেওয়া হচ্ছে।’ এই ফান্ড বাজারের ক্রান্তিকালে বড় ধরনের সহায়তা করবে বলেও আশাবাদ ব্যক্ত করেন তিনি।
এদিকে গত বছরের ২৩ অক্টোবর শেয়ারবাজারের জন্য বিশেষ তহবিল গঠনের ঘোষণা দেয় ব্যাংক মালিকদের সংগঠন ‘বাংলাদেশ অ্যাসোসিয়েশন অব ব্যাংকস’ (বিএবি)। শেয়ারবাজারে স্থিতিশীলতা ফেরাতে ‘স্টক মার্কেট স্ট্যাবিলাইজেশন ফান্ড’ (এসএমএসএফ) নামে তহবিলটি গঠনের ঘোষণা দেওয়া হয়।
প্রাথমিকভাবে এক হাজার কোটি টাকা দিয়ে এই তহবিলের কার্যক্রম শুরু করা হবে। পরবর্তী সময়ে এর আকার পাঁচ হাজার কোটি টাকা ছাড়িয়ে যেতে পারে বলেও ওই দিন জানানো হয়। রাজধানীর গুলশানে বিএবির নিজস্ব কার্যালয়ে এক সভা শেষে এই ঘোষণা দেওয়া হয়।
জানা যায়, এটি একটি মিউচুয়াল ফান্ড হওয়ার কথা। এখন ফান্ডে প্রতিটি ব্যাংক ২০ কোটি টাকা দেবে। তবে চাইলে এর বেশিও দিতে পারে। এ ছাড়া পুঁজিবাজারে তালিকাভুক্ত কোনো কোম্পানি সর্বনিম্ন ১০ কোটি টাকা দিয়ে তহবিলে যুক্ত হতে পারে। এক সপ্তাহের মধ্যে ব্যাংকের পরিচালনা পর্ষদের সভায় তহবিলের উদ্যোক্তার বিষয়টি চূড়ান্ত হবে বলেও সেদিন জানানো হয়।
এ ছাড়া, তহবিলটি গঠনের জন্য একটি সম্পদ ব্যবস্থাপনা কোম্পানি গঠনের কথা জানিয়েছিলেন বিএবির সভাপতি ও এক্সিম ব্যাংকের চেয়ারম্যান নজরুল ইসলাম মজুমদার।
এর আগে ৩ অক্টোবর বাজার স্থিতিশীলকরণ তহবিল নিয়ে এসইসির চেয়ারম্যান ও সদস্যদের সঙ্গে বিষয়টি নিয়ে আলোচনা করেন বাংলাদেশ অ্যাসোসিয়েশন অব পাবলিকলি লিস্টেড কোম্পানিজের (বিএপিএলসি) তত্কালীন সভাপতি সালমান এফ রহমান, ব্যবসায়ীদের শীর্ষ সংগঠন বাংলাদেশ বণিক সমিতি ফেডারেশনের সভাপতি (এফবিসিসিআই) এ কে আজাদ ও বাংলাদেশ ইনস্যুরেন্স অ্যাসোসিয়েশনের (বিআইএ) সভাপতি শেখ কবির হোসেন।
ওই দিন এফবিসিসিআইয়ের সভাপতি এ কে আজাদ বলেছিলেন, ‘আমরা বাজার স্থিতিশীলকরণ তহবিলের বিভিন্ন বিষয় নিয়ে এসইসির সঙ্গে আলোচনা করেছি। এসইসি এ-সংক্রান্ত কাগজপত্র জমা দিতে বলেছে।’
বাজার স্থিতিশীলকরণ তহবিল গঠনের ঘোষণা দেওয়ার পর ছয় মাস পার হলেও তহবিলটি গঠনের কোনো পদক্ষেপ চোখে পড়েনি আজও। বিষয়টি বিনিয়োগকারীদের মধ্যে বিরূপ প্রভাব ফেলছে বলে মনে করছেন সংশ্লিষ্ট ব্যক্তিরা।
এ বিষয়ে জানতে চাইলে বিএপিএলসির সাবেক সভাপতি সালমান এফ রহমান জানান, এ বিষয়ে মূল উদ্যোক্তা বিএবির সভাপতিই ভালো বলতে পারবেন। তিনি আরও বলেন, ‘আমার জানামতে, তহবিলটি গঠনের কাজ চলছে।’ তবে কত দূর এগিয়েছে, সে ব্যাপারে কিছুই বলতে পারেননি তিনি।
এ ব্যাপারে বিএবির সভাপতি নজরুল ইসলাম মজুমদারের সঙ্গে তাঁর মুঠোফোনে বারবার যোগাযোগের চেষ্টা করে পাওয়া যায়নি।
এ ব্যাপারে বাংলাদেশ পুঁজিবাজার বিনিয়োগকারী ঐক্য পরিষদের সভাপতি মিজান-উর-রশিদ চৌধুরী প্রথম আলো ডটকমকে বলেন, ‘আইসিবি ও বিএবির পক্ষ থেকে দুটি ফান্ড গঠনের উদ্যোগ নেওয়া হলেও ফান্ড দুটির কার্যক্রম দেখছি না। বাজারের স্বার্থে এই দুটি ফান্ড গঠন করা প্রয়োজন।’ সিকিউরিটিজ অ্যান্ড এক্সচেঞ্জ কমিশন (এসইসি), আইসিবি ও বিএবিকে এ বিষয়ে যথাযথ পদক্ষেপ নেওয়ার আহ্বান জানান তিনি।
বেসরকারি বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় ইউনাইটেড ইন্টারন্যাশনাল ইউনিভার্সিটির অধ্যাপক মোহাম্মাদ মুসা প্রথম আলো ডটকমকে বলেন, ‘তহবিলটি গঠন করা হলে ভালো হতো। বাজারের ক্রান্তিলগ্নে একটা সাপোর্ট দেওয়া যেত। তবে যেহেতু এর কার্যক্রম চোখে পড়ছে না, তাই এর ইতিবাচক বা নেতিবাচক দিক নিয়ে বলা যাচ্ছে না।
আর বাংলাদেশ ফান্ড নিয়ে তিনি বলেন, উদ্যোক্তাদের পক্ষ থেকে বাংলাদেশ ফান্ডের ব্যাপারে বারবার বলা হলেও ব্যক্তি ও প্রাতিষ্ঠানিক বিনিয়োগকারীদের পক্ষ থেকে তেমন সাড়া পাওয়া যায়নি। আর তাই তহবিলটির অর্থ সংগ্রহে বেশ ভাটা পড়েছে বলেও মনে করছেন তিনি। তবে এই দুটি তহবিল পুরোপুরি গঠন সম্পন্ন হলে বাজারে ইতিবাচক প্রভাব ফেলতে পারে বলে মনে করেন তিনি।

Definition of Fundamental Analysis

The price of share increased but the transaction decreased

In last Thursday, the maximum share price increased but the overall turnover of shares was decreased. The share investors are not confident to invest their money to shares. For that, the turnover of shares is decreasing. The news of buying shares of Directors of all companies hamper the right situation of our share market. The SEC announced that, the copy of order of court reached their hand and they research that and after that they announced the next decision for buying shares of directors of companies. It is mentioned that the directors of some companies gone to the court for vanish the decision of SEC for buying 2% shares of their company. But the court banned their application and said them to buy the minimum level of share. After that, the share market is going to a good position. But the trand of going is very slow.
The DSE general index raised with 34 and goes in 4734 and the CSE the overall transaction is 26 crore tk.

The General Index pick the 4885

Today is a good day for investors and also the all related people of our share market. The all shares of share market increased and the general index of DSE increased with 121 point. Maximum share price increased. But in the first time of today the index ups and downs and lastly it goes to  +121 and reach the index of 4885. The trad volume is also increased in the sense of Thursday. The 244 share's price is increased and 17's price is decreased and 4 shares price is unchanged. The DSE trade exchange volume is 277 crore tk which is 92 crore tk higher than the last working day.

So, it is a very good day for the investors of Bangladesh share market.

Market falls to 4682

Today's market (June 4, 2012) was start with ups and down. In first time, the index fluctuate to ups and downs. The maximum share's price gone down. The trade volume is increased to 327 which is bigger than yesterday. The trade volume increased. For that, it is said that some investors are getting out and some are entering. So, it is important to all investors to see the all situations and get the right decision before buy and sell your shares. The all over market situation is not good.
