I am afraid, madam, hardly can we create brand image just by advertisement and sponsorship.
We have to do something more than that. Branding means creating distinctive image in the people's mind. What do the business teachers and others say to that? Let's listen and discuss....

Sir, I think to make brand image of DIU we have to do lot of work. DIU have to participate in many social awareness & cultural program, have to give more sponsorship in different types of  program outside the university in print & electronic media, have to give more attractive advertisement by followup all things what we have and why we are different from other university, also can by followup our renowned  faculty members. Sir, you also gave a good example that we can congratulate the HSC students who will pass out with GPA 5 or golden GPA 5 in the next couple of months by arranging a celebration program at DIU auditorium or elsewhere. If we can also organize social awareness program like Prothom Alo (Bodle Jao, Bodle Dao), hope this kind of program can create a impression about DIU to the peoples' mind. By these things if we have a permanent campus like other renowned universities, hope it will also create a good impact in our brand image.

To create reliability on peoples mind we have to take some unique attempt:
like
1. Promoting university in to different social and cultural events by sponsorship or by arranging which program can attract our target group or the society as a whole.

2. Direct Advertisement has some negative impact on human mind.but informative advertisement may create positive impact.

3. Though most of our students came from rural level, so we should give   more concentration on this level may be we can arrange some seminars relating higher studies in to different districts with the presence of local and national experts.

4. We should give our advertisements into some selective news papers, bcz it also create our brand image.

5. For  upcoming HSC pass students  we should attract them by some distinctive way rather only newspaper add bcz its common.

Dear All,

Conversation here is really helpful for getting effective IDEA for branding DIU. To me class room (teaching learning environment) and student as a product is really sustainable areas for branding an educational institute.

All other means of communication or motivational activities like advertisement, social interaction, award and scholarship is very much ornamental and rationally functional with original product: STUDENT!

To me branding activities can be calculated in a funny way: You can consider 1 for original product (Student here) and 0’s for all other branding initiatives. If you have 3 special initiatives for branding then can get 1000 credits, if you can increase by 2 more initiative then it will be like 100000………..

But without the great 1 in front of all 0’s, nothing!

All of you informed that  our varsity placed a strong position among the renowned private universities in Bangladesh. So now its the time to keep up this position. All of we should be very careful in this regard. I think our students are the main weapon to develop our image. Because we have a large number of highly qualified faculty members and well equipped labs so that students can easily improve their knowledge by using these resources. Now it should be the goal of a student to explore themselves practically more then theoretically. DIU now regularly invites industry leaders to share their views with the students. All of the students should present each of the seminar.

If our students prove their sincerity and skill in any organization then our image automatically will be increased day by day.

and by this way we student   can create strong brand image also.

so our student have a lots of responsibility ..

This is really interactive and result oriented discussion. Dear Shibli, just a casual request: can you please develop a strategy paper for DIU branding from this forum to prove how it works? I will be with you in some point if you feel.

May be getting product from e-forum will create confidence and evidence for future.

"Brands should be seen as more than the difference between the actual cost of a product and its selling price - they represent the sum of all valuable qualities of a product to the consumer. There are many intangibles involved in business, intangibles left wholly from the income statement and balance sheet which determine how a business is perceived. The learned skill of a knowledge worker, the type of metal working, the type of stitch: all may be without an 'accounting cost' but for those who truly know the product, for it is these people the company should wish to find and keep, the difference is incomparable. By failing to recognize these assets that a business, any business, can create and maintain will set an enterprise at a serious disadvantage."

Dear all, i do believe, its high time to think to develop the brand image of DIU by following the principles of branding mentioned above. Let us think to enrich everything without spending an extra cent. We have to explore our potential.

We should remember, everybody knows the name of Daffodil..question is how good they think of Daffodil. We know the name of Stamford, but how do u evaluate Stamford..Everybody knows that as a certificate university..so we don't need to establish brand name, all we need is repositioning our brand name as "facilitator university" or "career guiding university"

Also, i think we can avoid traditional marketing n advertising like others are doing. We have to do something different. We have to inform our students and others aggressively that we are providing our good students with jobs, part time or full time and assistantships. At the same time, we have to maintain some standard. The counselors, administrative officers as well as everybody can play a vital role in propagating the good things of our university.

Most importantly, our students are our brand ambassadors. They should be considered valued members of our family. The counselors, coordination officials, teachers and all who are associated with students should treat our students positively and considerately.

Last but not the least we should maintain some standard by implementing some rules and regulations like screening out students who have Grade D especially in English at HSC n SSC level.

From my point of view:
Our existing students are playing the vital role in advertising.
So we have to give them extra care and to take a look on their logical points.
