This programme is designed in response to a growing societal need for professional scientists capable of dealing with environmental issues as they arise in a variety of natural, institutional, industrial and community contexts.

It provides a scientific understanding of the causes and effects of climate change on environment and environmental disasters and will equip you with the technical skills needed to monitor, manage and mitigate them, and to recover from their effects.
What will you study?
You will follow four key themes of study: earth and environmental science; human science; disaster studies and emergency planning; skills and techniques modules, e.g. fieldwork, data gathering, presentation and research. Experience of geographical information systems, remote sensing and fieldwork will equip you with specialist skills used to understand, monitor and manage natural hazards and disasters.
