Why Organic Cotton?
« on: October 26, 2011, 01:21:26 AM »
‘Why organic cotton?’ is an important question.

     -   Is organic cotton more ‘sustainable’ than conventional cotton?
     -   An environmentally preferable product, of added benefit to the environment, farmers, and consumers.
     -   Is it essentially a marketing tool?
     -   Or is it both????????

Let first know about basic concept of Sustainability:

Sustainable is a pattern of resource use, that aims to meet human needs while preserving the environment so that these needs can be met not only in the present, but also for generations to come
The field of sustainable development can be conceptually broken into three constituent parts:
environmental sustainability,
economic sustainability and
Quality and Social Standards:

As organic cotton in its LC (life cycle) does not use any harmful chemicals, thus ensure sustainability in
-envronment control
-economical use of natural resources
-looking ethical and ecological issues
-social standards.

thus, it is believed that organic cotton and its processing through its life cycle is the best methods implemented unto now. GOTS(Global ORGANIC Textile Standard) concept make your idea clear in this regards.

There have been huge increases in the global demand for organic cotton as it is found to be helpful in reducing exposure to the vast amount of toxic chemicals we are unknowingly exposed to.To encourage long term economically sustainable sources of organic fibre, it is important to implement models that acknowledge the value of the product from the farm gate and continuing right down the supply chain.

Many thanks all to be involved with a very important environmental issue. The demand of organic cotton is increasing day by day for it's harmless impact on the environment. In that sense, it is a really nice post.
