Disabled population to be brought under central database

State Minister for Information and Communication Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak has said the entire disabled population of the country will be brought under a central database.

Palak made the statement on Sunday from the meeting room of the Ministry of Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs via video conference at the inaugural ceremony of a computer training course under a neurodevelopmental disorders project.

The training course will be run by Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC) under the Information and Communication Technology Division.

Under this particular project, a total 2,800 disabled people will be given various types of training. Among them, 280 have neurodevelopmental disabilities.

The courses include introduction to computer and application, graphics multimedia and outsourcing, web and mobile application development, software quality testing and digital marketing.

The state minister said: “The government is working to ensure every disabled person is employed according to merit; entrepreneurship will be encouraged as well.

“The government has implemented multiple projects that  granted independence to the disabled population of Bangladesh through training.”

He mentioned the government will continue its efforts to empower the disabled population.

BCC Executive Director (acting) Rezaul Karim, Director Enamul Kabir, project directors Monowar Uz Zaman and Golam Rabbani, and BCC regional office in-charges were also present at the event.
