A  skywalk, sky bridge, or skyway is a type of pedway which consists of an enclosed, covered, semi-covered or sometimes open footbridge between two or more buildings in an urban area. This protects pedestrians from the weather as it creates circulation of pedestrian above the road level. In Asia, Skywalks are owned separately by the city government, connecting between privately run rail stations or other transport with their own footbridges, and run many kilometers. Skywalks are designed in variety of spaces which may include shopping mall, university campus, business areas etc. and may provide a range of facilities and services other than walking.
